Science vs. faith: Unbelievers ignore evidence to contraryTue, 04/11/2006 - 4:14pm

Peter Duran cites a “major study” which concludes that prayer does not appear to affect the health of sick people and delights that more of this type of “evidence” may be available in the future to help determine what religious beliefs are legitimate or superstition. The problem is that the Peter Durans of the world care nothing about evidence when it comes to matters of faith. Despite overwhelming evidence that God must exist, the Duranites choose to ignore this evidence because it does not give them the answer they are looking for. Much like those who are making arguments that the Holocaust never happened, Duranites start with their conclusion, then grab onto anything that appears to bolster their viewpoint, ignoring all the evidence to the contrary. Everyone chooses to put their faith in something. Like the Duranites, some choose a blind faith that is contrary to the evidence; others see that their faith is supported by the evidence, for the heavens really do declare the glory of God and the skies really do proclaim the work of his hands.
