Illegal aliens

H. Hamster's picture

Ok, we are going to be polite here and address the actual issue without the name-calling, OK?

The illegal aliens I want to discuss are the non-residents of Peachtree City who come here and use our cart paths, playgrounds, lakes and other facilities without paying the taxes we do. Our taxes build and maintain those facilities, the "illegals" pay nothing.

So, is this fair? Are user fees an option? Should aggressive policing be used? Should we detain and/or fine these people?

Or, should we just invite them in? A live and let live solution.

Let's hear from you.

hamster the rodent, don't really need to say much that others have not already pointed out. Just do the rest of us PTC people a favor and never leave the city limits. Don't want your views to be considered the norm for the rest of us. Plus you could be in violation of your own view. Go hang out on your cart path or any other public facility and take pictures or try and get names of people not belonging here (according to you).

Respectfully, you're worried about the wrong illegals in PTC. I enjoy running into visitors to our town on our paths, in our parks, and quite often spending tax dollars in our hotels, restaurants, and stores. The ones that drive me crazy are the ones who REFUSE to use the paths -- the die-hard cyclists who are too good to mix with the other path traffic and insist on using our streets, but refuse to obey traffic laws. Cruising through stop signs, riding three and four abreast and refusing to get out of the way of cars, riding at night without proper lights. We've got something like 100 miles of paths. Use them! Please!

Ah, geez, Hamster....get a life !!! If you love your golf cart paths that much, and don't want to share them with anyone else, build your own on your own private property and post no trespassing signs. Have you ever been to another city and walked on "their" sidewalks or visited "their" parks....that had been paid for by tax dollars of "their" citizens?....Or swim in "their" beaches or hike on "their" trails. Where on earth do you get the idea that only PTC residents should have exclusive use of the cart paths? Being a resident of Peachtree City does not make anyone elite or privileged. You live in America....and you have to share just like every other city in America. What next? Build a wall around PTC and demand proof of citizenship before you can enter?

Lawdawga, you must own a business and are using cheap labor. Hamster, like all tax payers have a right to their opinion. People that use the phrase "get a life" are the people who do not respect other's thoughts and beliefs. Clean your ears out and listen, before your streets, cities, cart paths and your COUNTRY doesn't belong to you anymore.

HH,

It was not only PTC residents who paid for the cart paths. It was all property owners, whether they lived in PTC or not. It was also from SPLOST. Please, let's get over this and move on. There are more important tasks that should be addressed and resolved.

I agree with Highgreen; this board has become boring and new, clear and ingelligent postings are few and far between.

I need the name of that Tree Service. I would love to have a company that was reliable enough to come finish a job on a Sunday because they couldn't finish the day before due to rain. I think the yard is going to look great. It's obvious that you can't see they have a plan in mind. I wish more people in the neighborhood would pay attention to their landscaping. The natural (pine cone and sweet gum ball) look is a mess. If you want to worry about something, worry about the embarrasing, rottening sign at the front of the subdivision. I had family come in from out of town who commented that they where suprised that the houses were nice, because the sign out front was old and delapadated.

Be serious, they are not insured; that is why I almost had a heart attack when one worker almost fell out of my tree with a running chain saw. The only saving grace is I could have pretended not to know them since I did not pay with check. It was a case of rogue workers attacking my property.

The ignorant comments by "skyspy" and "yaught" above show that the Republican party's xenophobic 2006 theme of "Blame Those $%^&* Mexicans!" is working.

Javier's Tree Service is a licensed and bonded corporation based in Senoia. As such, I suspect they have more insurance coverage than skyspy and yaught combined.

Will you people get off whether or not people can come to PTC and look around? Do you want to be stopped everywhere YOU go and have to show your address? If you have a problem with a certain thing or color, then call a cop or move! Most ridiculous crap I have seen on here yet. If the level of writing isn't improved soon I wouldn't blame the paper if it cut the whole thing out. Things must be specific, truthful, and meaningful to many. Also, some symbalance of good English and effort must be shown.

Well highgreen109, in the interest of your request for "some symbalance of good English and effort must be shown", I would like to help you. I think the word you want to use instead of "symbalance" is "semblance".

HG,

I don't care if you spelled semblance correctly or not. Ignore mcg's comments. I don't always agree with you, but your comments here are dead on.

Thanks

As I see it 1 of you supports the idea of restricting cart path use to PTC residents, 3 are against plus the 2 personal attacks - so let's say 5 against. The 4 of you who somehow started discussing trees and the 3 english and spelling lessons did not count as real votes.

So, 5 to 1 against. Let 'em in! Use our cart paths with our blessing. Case closed.
