Enough is Enough!

Enough is enough when it comes to our so-called elected officials pulling out the race card. I am a citizen of Fayette County and I am a Black woman who is fed up to you know where with people like Cynthia Mckinney always claiming that they were harmed because of the color of their skin.
I have not walked in her shoes but I assure you that her irrational banter is a direct product of her father's misguided beliefs. I am well aware of the origin of this irrational paranoia and I feel that she is a disgrace to all women, Period.
I agree that these public officials are sending the wrong messages out to the kids that we are trying to raise to follow the rules. Darn...We learned that in Kindergarten.
I am also upset with the media because after this story broke, they didn't try to talk to the true people of our race who would have been more than happy to express the fact that just because we are black, it doesn't mean that we agree with her or that we would even vote for her ever. I've spoken with a vast majority of black people on this subject and we are beyond shame for this foolish charge.
Mr. Wilkerson:
With all due respect sir, you disappointed me and my family by saying the things that you said. While you are free to your own opinion on why you lost, it was a cop-out. Arrogance.
What a perfect opportunity for you to teach your girls a lesson and let them know that sometimes in life the more experienced person does not get the job. (Sheriff Tuggle losing to Sir Hill). What a disaster that is turning out to be. A majority Black county voted the lesser experienced man in. Get over it and move on.
If I were you, I would have jumped right back into the business at hand and congratulated the winner, because if he is not competent, then you should just sit back and wait for his downfall. After that happens I'm sure people will learn more about you and try to vote wiser next time.
Oh, by the way, here are a few things that you and Ms. McKinney and The Reverand also known as Jackson along with the NAACP can do for OUR people.
1.Get the government to revoke the Section 8 vouchers for the people who are abusing the system and terrorizing their elderly neighbors. This is not the answer.
2. See if you can do something about the filth on the radio stations that are causing our young boys and girls to grow up wanting to be pimps, drug dealers, and video vixens.
3. Get off of your pedastals! Use your moments in the media spotlight to talk about real issues, not by trying to get a mob behind you because your feelings were hurt.
When it comes to racial issues, I am convinced that the younger generation is doing just fine. It's the older, hungry politicians that are beginning to push our race back hundreds of years.
The bottom line is that contrary to what some people may believe, you will not get our votes just because our skin color is the same.
I do want to say that these cases of racial bologna have helped me to continue to talk to my daughter and family members about how disgraceful it is for people to always look for excuses for their failures.

I've always wondered what the folks of the 4th saw in Ms. McKinney, but that's who they thought would represent them the best and such is our political process. As a Black man, I was embarrassed by her behavior and subsequent ranting in the media. There's a reason why Representatives were give these credentials to enter the halls of Congress. For her to think she could ignore or test those reasons was childish and unprofessional for someone of her position. Yes my fellow Fayettetians(?), there are Black people here who roll our eyes at ignorance and know that while the media wishes to regard us all as following our "Black Leaders", I and many more like me can think quite nicely for ourselves, thanks!

One thing is for sure, Fayette County does not lack for cowards. People in this county say anything and everything without any accountability by either blogging under a "pen name" (like yours truly) or sending something to Free Speech which better qualifies for a "signed" letter to the Editor. At least Mr. Wilkerson was brave enough to run for office and offer an opinion on the outcome of the election, to which there has been no lack of comments. ENOUGH already!

Amen!!! Thank you for your comments. I agree with you totally. As a black woman, I'm so tired of people of color throwing out the race card every time something doesn't go their way-particularly when they are in the wrong!

Yes, racism exists (on both sides) but you shouldn't automatically assume that you are a victim of it everytime you encounter/disagree with someone of a different race. My advice...take each man/woman as he/she comes.

Mckinney is a nut (sorry I couldn't resist the name calling because I get so emotional about this issue)!!! Good Lord... she quotes Tupac on a regular basis!!! All those ignorant fools who jumped on her band wagon are an embarrasement to the race!!

Mckinney, Jesse Jackson, Lowery and all of the other black opportunist politicians are the biggest pimps in the country!!!

Just wanted to thank you for your comments.

I guess there is as much a black silent majority as there is a white silent majority. Neither one of us really gets all involved in these childish games but when we cast our vote.

I'm still convinced that the majority of Americans can see right through the charades being played in the media and politics, but sadly it is getting harder and harder to get the real facts. All sides spin everything to their advantage and sometimes you just can't tell which side is up, down, left or right....

Thanks again for your comments and I'm glad that my fellow citizens, regardless of colour, are trying their best to raise good kids and don't care much for all the bullying of these idiots and wanna-be politicians!

PS: I feel the worst this country has ever done for the african-american population is to lower their standards for them and giving them free handouts. If you think about it, that is racist at it's most evil: "Here is a handout, because we know you can't do any better!"

it is called breeding, upbringing, "raised right", and obviously Cynthia has none of the aforementioned. Rather than being glad that the police officer was doing his job, and protecting her, she chose to act a fool. After being addressed three times, could she not have simply identified herself, pulled our her drivers license, or some reasonable action. In this day of terroism, not to mention, just general everyday crime rates; if a police officer were addressing anyone in a crowd, most of us would stop and fully cooperate realizing this is the world we now live in. It does not matter, black, white, red, green, yellow, stripes or polka-dotted, rules are rules, right is right, wrong is wrong. Old Cynthia is simply projecting onto others her racist way of looking at the world; because she thinks that way, she automatically assumes everyone else does too.
