Hey, Cynthia, I have to show my I.D. everyday to the same guard at the same gate, AND he knows me by name. If I slapped him, I’d be in jail and out of work. Maybe your new slogan should be, “What can black do for you?”

----------------------------------------------------------------

So, Fayette is a county of racists and bigots? You are entitled to your opinion and here’s mine: move back to your county of thugs, drive-bys and “race card“ games before you ruin ours. You can add whatever color you wish to this.

----------------------------------------------------------------

I think the welcome sign has been removed at the Fayette County line. From all of the recent media and other activity, it seems we no longer welcome blacks, Mexicans, anybody with a Muslim name, and apartment dwellers of any kind. If this sort of intrusion happens to reduce our property values, maybe our taxes will start down instead of up every year? Equal is as equal ranks.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Rep. Dan Lakly is acting absolutely silly. Somehow, fear of the blacks is a good reason to stop the move to district voting. Lakly always cites Clayton and Fulton counties as his reasons. What about the 96 percent of the other, most majority white, counties that have district voting? Somebody needs to tell Chicken Little Lakly that the sky is not falling in those counties.

----------------------------------------------------------------

So, if five candidates are running for office, one of whom happens to have a white face and the other four happen to be of a darker complexion, and the light-skinned candidate is elected, then the county is full of racists. If on the other hand, the roles are reversed and the darker-toned individual is elected, this is the voice of the people being heard. Please, give it a rest. I am a liberal-minded person and even I am getting sick of this double standard being perpetuated. I would expect the educated of every race to do their best to instead perpetuate the late Rev. King’s well-articulated dream that all would be judged by their character and not their color. Too many people of different races, religions, economic backgrounds, and family origins have become successful in private and public life in America for us to have to continue to be bombarded with this kind of community dividing dribble. These folks who ran for office all have good qualities and (being humans) bad ones. When I hear such unfortunate comments from one of the unsuccessful candidates, I believe that indeed his character is showing, and that at least his not being elected was the right choice, whatever color his face.

----------------------------------------------------------------

To Mr. Emory Wilkerson: It is a shame you blame the outcome of the election on race. If you want to see racist attitudes, look at the wearers of the now famous T-shirt which states, “We took over Riverdale and Fayetteville is next.” They are not worn by Caucasians, and I find these very racist. Perhaps Fayette citizens do not want their city turned into another Riverdale.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Isn’t it enough that everywhere you turn, someone is claiming racism because they lost an election or slapped a police officer? Now the PTC police chief is stating that the residents of Village Park may have been a little too confrontational with the residents of Harmony and Balmoral Villages when they trespass on or vandalize their property. Do law-abiding citizens have any constitutional rights in this age of political correctness? Who are their advocates? I don’t see anyone marching for them, holding candlelight vigils, or getting celebrity spokespersons and media fanfare. When is this nonsense going to end? No wonder America is not respected in the world today.

----------------------------------------------------------------

If there is anything I despise more than “chicken-hawks,” (people who haven’t served in the military, who always urge wars on), it is those who continually say, “Close the borders, close the borders,” who do not have a plan to legalize or deport those here from approximately 45 countries who came here without being invited. First we can’t close the borders, it is impossible. They will just use boats from the Gulf if need be, or use elaborate tunnels or helicopters as they do in Canada. To pretend that we can close the borders is groveling for votes only. Second, if we don’t fine and jail those who HIRE them, it won’t stop. Even our local police will not pick up one illegal due to no plan as to what to do with them; that must stop. Say it is impossible for employers to know who they are? Just an excuse since we want things done cheaper.

----------------------------------------------------------------

One of the local TV stations says they are going to tell us the good, the bad, and the ugly when they report the news. But when their politically correct news guy identified illegal aliens in our country as “undocumented workers,” I said, Whoa! How about just giving me the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

----------------------------------------------------------------

How can you people complain here? We are in the middle of nowhere, Georgia. I am only 16 and I wonder where the immaturity comes from you adults. Does it make your ego feel bigger by complaining about the dumbest issues (John Kerry for example) in a paper that talks about sewer problems and MySpace on their front page? Don’t you have anything better to do? In a planned city controlled by Christian conservative white people, you seem to be having such a hard time with your lives (sarcastic), especially compared to the little orphan boy that is starving in some third world country. Stop this foolish behavior and ramblings and act your age for my sake and the sake of your children.

----------------------------------------------------------------

The sounds of Bush bragging in Fayette County have dried up like a desert lately. The Republicans can’t bring themselves to brag on him anymore for scores of reasons, but they also can’t bring themselves to say he was and is wrong and do something about it. Three more years can be really bad. Stop at least some of it now.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Concerning the oak tree by the Delta Credit Union. I’m sure it was a bunch of Delta pilots with chain saws. They are the root of all evil.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Good grief, now Delta is being blamed for cutting down trees. What’s next: All the traffic in Fayetteville is Delta’s fault because of the layoffs and people are out job-searching?

----------------------------------------------------------------

The picture in this morning’s AJC of Delta’s pilots walking two-abreast through Hartsfield had the same effect as fingernails on a chalk-board. Why do they need our attention? All I want is safe, frequent, reliable air service at a competitive price. All these guys (boys) want is to work less and get paid more, and the only value they offer is to strike (pout) if they do not get it. If their only measure of value is collective action, it is not much value. In fact, it recognizes that there is little value-added between a union pilot and a non-union pilot, other than a bad attitude. Why can’t they(as individuals) go to a company and say, “I have these skills. Do you have jobs which use these skills? If so, what do you pay?” Accept it, or go ask someone else, just like anyone else looking for work. These guys get paid $150,000 on average, and they work less than half time. The company pays for their training and the planes, the company fills ’em with people and bags and fuel, the company maintains them, and the company competes in the market. But these guys don’t want to compete. And, if you talk with them, they would say management made this mess, why don’t they simply raise their prices? My question is, if they want management salaries, why don’t they go into management, and take the commensurate risks? Management does not hide behind a union. These guys are spoiled, and are living in the past. Go get a real job, and work.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Now I know that what happened on Peachtree Parkway was an optical illusion, or was it a delusional experience? Was I all alone out there? Why is it necessary to disrupt half the city? What are the cart/bike/jogging paths for? Why not put these events in the northern part of the city? Run them at night? Lease the AMS? For the record, this octogenarian has played baseball, basketball, racquetball, a little football and tennis, for many years sailed a 27-foot sloop, jogged (on a track) and still a lot of golf. None of these activities take place on the city streets. Why must running and biking? And I still don’t know how many idiots it took.

----------------------------------------------------------------

I’m still looking for the status of the Tennis Center debt to Peachtree National Bank. Are we still paying lawyers every day? Just give the bank the center if they have title to it. If not forget it.

If the PTC National Bank had their hands clean in this Tennis Center mess, they would have already taken a formal legal action to recover the funds.

Gee ya think?! It goes without saying if any of this had been a legal transaction conducted by people who were honest, the bank would have reposessed their property. But they have not done that because they know it is not worth anything, otherwise they would have already taken it back and be running it as a profitable business. Yet another Lenox and company fiasco we the tax payer has been stuck with.

I can appreciate the 16 year old's position on what he or she is reading in the paper. The funny part is this young person will one day realize that there can be problems in the world and in our community that are not as dire as world hunger. Idealism is not a bad thing, it's just easy. Maturity is being able to state a position on an issue rather than trying to dilute it with extreme problems. Yes, world hunger is more serious than myspace but it does not mean that myspace is not a problem. It is a very juvenile tactic to sit back and point out the obvious all while trashing us for worrying about our "minor" problems. How worldly of you. I do like the fact that you are reading the paper and are interested in current events, your head and shoulders ahead of your classmates. Stay involved, a little maturity will do you good! Don't take offense, I was in the same place you are when I was in school and was taken aback when someone told me that I would mellow a little when I grew up...they were right.

Idealism is what keeps people from turning into greedy, selfish, angry Republicans. It keeps your mind healthy and your life in perspective.

Myspace isn't the problem. Poor parenting is.

Perhaps if parents in Fayette County worried more about the drugs that their kids can acquire from their teammates and classmates, they wouldn't be so focused on Myspace.

Like I said. It's all about perspective. Take care of important things, and the little things will fall by the wayside.

You are correct, MYSPACE isn't a problem. I think we should use it as a way to keep track of Jr's activities. Since Jr is just dumb enough to put it all down in writing.
