stormwater bills?

Did anybody get a stormwater bill in the mail today?

What's all that about? Smiling

I'm just waiting to hear everyone complain about this....

Well, yes, the bills came today. What it is all about is the issue that has been debated in city hall for many months. You know, the meetings no one attends.

But, since I did attend - at least the first two, I think I can 'splain this to you.

You have a house in PTC, right?

It rains on your house and driveway and that water runs off - some into your yard and some off your property - hopefully downhill, right?

Downhill usually means someone else and someone else and someone else and eventually your water arrives on city land (with fertilizer and dog poop, but I digress) and the city has to handle it, Got it so far?

The city needs money to handle your water - I guess to cleanse it before it runs into the lake - makes sense so far, right?

Since they don't have builders and developers to fine anymore for stormwater runnoff issues it means - Tag! You're it! How does that feel?

Pay your bill. You have no choice.

Got mine. $22.20 for a year.

Developers and builders are not responsible for 20 year old pipe that rusts, rots and break. Nor all those stormwater ditches along roads to carry stormwater. Nor many of the detention and retention ponds on city property.

You have a stormwater drain to collect water off the street you live on? That is stormwater.

And not all stormwater ditches and pipes are on city property. A great mean are on home property, or under. The city does not own that property. They have a right of way.

And all those pipes to get the water from one side of the road to the other.

There are tons or repairs that have been long neglected. Time has run out to get them done.

Needed. Not a luxury. And not something that can be installed so as to be maintenance free.
