Together we can make a difference and I respectfully ask for your vote.

Unlike the other candidates whom have not presented one plan on generating revenue for the city, I looked to my entrepreneurial skills and have presented multiple ideas; ideas that can generate fresh revenue to the city, as well as ideas on how to bring relief to our seniors that desperately need the help.

Just as I have managed to grow my businesses by listening to my employees and the members, I intend to help Peachtree City grow by listening to the city’s employees and more importantly, the input from the citizens of Peachtree City.

I am always open to ideas and this is why I championed the cause of “Town Hall Meetings” throughout the various villages as well as separate “Town Hall Meetings” for seniors and “Town Hall Meetings” for young adults. Ask yourself, have any of the other candidates even offered to accept your ideas?

There are a couple of candidates that have stated, through their financial expertise, they can cut the budget up to $1.5 million. However when asked, they can’t tell you where they will cut or how they will cut. They don’t have the first idea. They don’t even have a plan and haven’t presented one to date. Why? They simply don’t know.

I will look for ideas to generate revenue without taxing Peachtree City residents (see real-estate equities on my Web site www.joindar.com) at a level that actually lowers our property values. Nobody wants to pay higher taxes, but nobody wants to see the city’s character changed either.

Annexing the West Village has been in Peachtree City’s plan since the 1960s. Annexing property that can generate revenue while expanding the cities recreational facilities is right. The city could bring in upwards of $2 million in fees alone. Likewise, they will generate a fresh source of tax revenue.

As I am sure you are aware, some of the decisions that City Council makes today will have an impact today. Other decisions will be the building blocks for years to come. I hope that you will stand beside me today as we lay the groundwork for our tomorrow.

I encourage you to visit my Web site at www.joindar.com. Please feel free to contact me at joindar@aol.com if you have any questions or ideas.

Dar-

How exactly do you explain to the new PTC homeowner who bought a $350,000 home that he must pay 1/10th of 25% of the sale price to the city? That's $8,750 they must write a check for and send to PTC. This is on top of some of the highest taxes in the metro area.

Do you simply tell them it's a "real-estate equity" dressed in tax clothing? Are you honestly promoting this as a campaign promise? To force all homebuyers in PTC to pay this tax?

I believe the percentage proposed was 1/4 of 1% or 0.0025%. On a purchase amount of $350,000.00 you are looking at a fee, not a tax; of $875.00.

To offset the maintenance costs on the cart paths, any candidate will have to raise taxes or divert money from another program.

This fee will provide money to help with the costs of a portion of Peachtree City's lifestyle that is in much need of repair.

I believe my comment was posed as a question- so thanks for answering.

So a new home buyer will still have to pay a "fee" of $875. Not a "tax," but a "fee." Ahhh, okay. A tax in "fees" clothing.

I guess I could use some help counting my nuts- interested?

No, not a new home buyer A NEW RESIDENT. It has been commented that current citizens downgrading in a home purchase would have to encounter this fee. ABSOLUTELY NOT!

This is not a tax, and if the new resident (not a PTC citizen) stays in thier home, the ROI (return on investment) will be approx. 2 years, which after that point they will be making money on their fee due to little or no increase in taxes. It's a matter of investing in the future and it's really just simple economics.

Most people have lived in PTC 2, 5, 10, 20 years or longer. their taxes, your taxes have helped build this wonderful city over the years. Because PTC is PTC is it wrong to ask someone that moves here tomorrow to pay a small one time fee to enjoy what the current citizens (you)have built? We now pay taxes every year...ongoing for the amenities we enjoy. So at the end of the day do we want to raise taxes to keep amenities to our standards or do we lower taxes and watch the amenities suffer, which at that point would cause a decrease in house values.

This plan is simple economics and business 101, it's a mechanism for constant cash flow for the city.

I personally don't thing anyone who can afford a $350,000.00 house is going to complain about $875.00, especially if they understand the future positive impact it will have on lowering their taxes as well as increasing home values.

I thank you for expressing your concerns and I hope this will clarify this plan as it truly benefits all the residents of PTC, even the new residents over 2 years. I would be interested to know if you have any additional thoughts concerning this plan.

Note: Although you may not be aware, almost everybody in PTC has already paid this fee as there are passthroughs from the builders. The city charges builders an impact fee which is just pass strait on to the buyer. Most buyers are not aware of these fees.

I don't like Dan because he's been mean to me. I don't really understand what the other candidates are talking about - its so confusing. I'm voting for you because we look alike.

Scruffy,
You said the other candidates are confusing. Now I'm confused.
You say you are voting for Dar because you look alike, but you
put up this picture up for your blog i.d.
Are you saying Dar is a cross dresser?

No, Dar is not a cross dresser - he is without a doubt the best candidate for mayor. The photo is of a belly dancer and the reason it is there because some dude on the Tennant blog said something about Paul Schwainze being as interested in city politics as the writer was about becomong a belly dancer. This stuff is really really funny if you follow it. I'll delete her tomorrow and use my real photo. Then you'll know why they call me Scruffy.

By the way, you don't have a tiger graphic on your messages - get it done!!!
