FCBOE Can't Think Out of the Box?

MeNPTC's picture

I find it hard to believe that the FCBOE had to make one decision on the redistricting of all elementary schools. Why doesn't the FCBOE review each schools situation, independently? Are they too busy to analyze the situation that best fits each school? They are using a broad-brush approach to much more detailed problem.

Questions to ask:

1. Is Peachtree City Elementary over crowded?
2. Why doesn’t the board act on this fact alone?
3. Is taxpayer money is being wasted on temporary buildings, utilities, and supplies for the temporary buildings?
4. Are there schools less than one mile away that have empty classrooms?
5. Are those empty classrooms already being heated and air-conditioned?
6. Why is Pinegate the only neighborhood off Kedron Drive not going to Kedron elementary?
7. With 41 students transferring from Pinegate why is the FCBOE unwilling to provide a bus?
8. Should everyone in this county be concerned?
9. Does the FCBOE have the responsibility to be fiscally responsible?

FCBOE

You gotta ask yourself--- if the School Board [[[[[DELETED]]]]] the boundaries so bad that they move a subdivision of students within visual eyesight to a school 5 miles away, well then----

How much can we trust them with curriculum and important matters ?

The teachers must all go home at night shaking their heads.

Excluding DeCotis, it might be time for sweeping leadership change.

or just dont care. Ive been to several meetings. After 2 meetings of watching them act like they dont want to be there, I decided not to go anymore. The last one I went to, they were discussing where they should spend there budget. One was for a new track at sandy creek. What I wanted to ask them is why not go after all the illeagal students and make there parents pay back the 7000 dollars its takes to fund a student in our county. There is well over 100 illeagal students in fayette as we speak. Thats 700,000 dollars that could be recovered and spent on a "new track for Sandy Creek." Will it happen? Probally whenever the Devil starts ice skating in hell.I will be sure to vote against the main 3 and Decotis. Dyarymple come back.

Who acts like they don't want to be there? They all had to be elected. Why would someone do that if they didn't want to be there?
Who are the main three? There are five. Only two are up for reelection this year. Do you even know which ones those are?
Dr. DeCotis is board appointed, so you'll never be able to vote against him. Dalrymple has been gone for about ten years. Your ignorance (and apparent illiteracy) is showing.

Lee Wright, Terri Smith, Marion Key. Just like immaturity to show its face and attack something other than the matter at hand. I’m not here to debate with you about misspellings and grammar. The fact is people from other county’s are stealing services and use of tax money. School tax is 72% of your total tax bill ever year. So 72 % of your money is going towards funding an illegal student. When BOE was asked in a meeting, they sort of shrugged it off as if they wasn’t too concerned.

Someone suggested before to prosecute the family of the ones comming in illegal, and more important, the Fayette resident helping them. I agree, that is the ..ONLY...way to stop it....I don't feel sorry for them because I moved here for my child and still owned a home in another county...and paid 2 house notes for 3 years...others, I am sure have moved here and bit the bullet, I don't think it should be a free ride for others, that makes a mockery of the honest parents who have given all they had like me.

It is time we starting noticing what the school board is doing with the 72% or so of our tax dollars. In addition, they receive about the same amount of state moeny that is our tax money as well. Time for new leadership. I, for one, would like to see Dr.
Bob Todd elected to the board. He is retired now and has grown children, so he would not be there to advance his children like some do. He has a PhD in education. He is well qualified. Let's elect him and another new one and see if the dire situation of our schools can be inproved.

Agree with almost all of this - except bringing Darymple back. Fayette kids are just beginning to graduate without a marbles-in-the-mouth southern accent and I'd like to keep it that way.

Anyhow, take what is obviously wrong - the 2 major things being idiotic school district configurations and the illegal students and make it a campaign issue for 2 people to run against the two do-nothing incumbents. Those 2 issues alone will either get some new school board members elected or force the 2 incumbents to address the issue somehow.

Can we elect someone with guts to stop the illegal students? How about the schools with trailers and others with empty classrooms. What poor management!

Sure we have the guts (use the word fortitude in the future) to elect someone to school board who will stop the illegals. The real question is does anyone have the fortitude to run for school board on a platform that opposses illegals?
