Tennant critic hides his own bias

Last week’s letter from Paul Schwanitz criticizing Dan Tennant for his record on taxes and spending was laughable. Mr. Schwanitz did not have his facts straight.

The fact is that during Dan Tennant’s four years of service on the city council, he was an outspoken critic of excessive spending and over-taxation, and has the proven voting record to back it up. Without his efforts, our taxes would have been higher and our expenditures even more.

As a long-time PTC resident and Delta employee, I am thankful for Dan’s efforts in the past and for his pledge to help reduce our tax burden and the city’s excessive spending.

Since many residents of our city work in the airline industry, it is particularly important in these lean times for us to elect someone like Dan with a fiscally conservative viewpoint. Dan Tennant understands that in tough times, government must sacrifice as well as the individual.

I happen to know Dan Tennant personally, and I wanted to share one other interesting fact that Mr. Schwanitz conveniently forgot to mention.

The real reason Mr. Schwanitz writes letters to the editor criticizing Dan Tennant is because he is the boyfriend of Tennant’s ex-wife, and was the subject of a police report initiated by Tennant for threatening one of his sons.

Mr. Schwanitz is no more interested in city politics than I am of being a belly dancer. His shameful tactics from two years ago continue today, and his secret personal agenda needs to be exposed for the fraud that it is.

I am too interested in city politics. I'm a Delta pilot. I know everything. I support Dar. We look alike.
