Obama.. Not my FAULT

Obama defended his strategy but conceded officials mistakenly believed unemployment would go no higher than "the 8 percent range." He also said that many of the jobs were lost in December, January and February of 2009, before he took office or before any of his programs took effect. Despite better-than-expected reports on everything from housing to manufacturing this week, recession-wary U.S. companies are still shedding hundreds of thousands of jobs. The government reported that the nation's employers cut 663,000 workers in March, pushing the unemployment rate up to 8.5 percent, the highest in nearly 26 years. ABC News April 09 Results

The US unemployment rate rose to 10.2 percent in October, according to data released Friday by the Labor Department. This is only the second time official unemployment has reached double digits since the end of World War II. It is the highest level since early 1983. US Dept of Labor

Disappointing news on the jobs front from the US. Employers there laid off 85,000 people in December.
That was a lot more than economists had predicted and was a blow to recent optimism about a recovery in the labor market.
The figures for October and November were also revised to show the economy lost 1,000 more jobs than had been previously estimated over those two months.
In October 2009, the jobless total was the worst in 26 years at 10.2 percent of the working population.
