mmm...mmm...mmm...Barack 'One-Term' Obama

It wasn't so much of a "state of the union' speech as it was an aspirational campaign speech. The president didn't really provide any details or facts on how well our country is doing as he should have done. A good state of the union speech should tell us 3 things:

1. Is the U.S. safe?
2. Is the U.S. prosperous?
3. Are we unified as a country?

1. The president didn't say anything to make Americans safer. Admitting the shortcomings and failures of the intelligence community did little to after give Americans that we are safe from attacks by our enemies.

2. Implementing a spending freeze of less than 3% of the additional $9 trillion the government is expected to accumulate over the next 10 years is nothing but a token move to make it appear that the president is actually reigning in government spending. It's an insult to intelligent Americans that he would actually try to pass it off as something that will positively affect the massive deficits that he and previous administrations have run up.

3. This is the most polarizing president in recent history. He promised that he would bring the country together and end the petty bickering, yet he drew a line in the sand practically on day one with his "I won" statement. Since then, Republicans have been omitted from the bargaining table.

I thought he was positive. I'm sorry. I'm white, but I'm not going to side against him cause he's black. I don't care if he is GREEN!

The more I hear him, the more I trust him, it was the opposite with Bush. Obama made a good point, for the past 8 years, we tried no hands on corporations, and look where it got us. There is nothing ethical about what has been done in the name of a free market in this country. Small companies have suffered greatly, and way too many back room deals.

People are suffering and something has got to fix this.

I'm not trying to be mean, and please don't take it that way, but we have got to try something new. Wall street needs to be reigned in. It is wide open for crooks. People have lost their entire retirement funds in that thing.

The banks need to pay us back with interest. They sure as hell wouldn't give you a loan any other way. But, that is what we did for them.

Our government has not been working for us. I want to see some help for the little man.

I find it absolutely AMAZING that Liberals as well as most Conservatives and rightly so.. BLASTED Bush over the growing deficit.

But now they just ignore Obama and the Pelosi gang.

Obama as I warned wants Universal Education now.. Get a student loan you only have to pay 10% of it back as long as you go to work for the Government.. Hundreds of Billions more.. This is madness on a scale never seen.

I'm sure he'll do his usual "duck and cover" routine if/when Congress takes up the ideas that he proposed during his address, but it sounded like one of the stupidest trial balloons ever floated by a Prez. A major incentive and jobs program for the government? Like the government is having a hard time finding people right now???

Obama's approach of "be all things to all people/all factions of people" in his address came across as a man who has no clue what to do now that he is elected and the reality that you have to govern hits home. That's not surprising at all considering his background of nothing. It's so easy to be the "outsider" and bluster and then the day comes when you have to own it. He doesn't want to own it and does everything possible to make Pelosi/Reid take all the flack. He's gutless and even his most fervent lib supporters are realizing that he only cares about holding the office and not about anything resembling "change."

"The outlook for the federal budget is bleak," Elmendorf said.

He said that budget deficits "remain substantial through the decade" and then grow worse in the period after 2020.

Elmendorf said the U.S.'s current fiscal path will lead to growing debt levels that could be destabilizing."

US Budget Recap: CBO Offers 'Bleak' Report

Meantime, Obama's spending freeze proposal is a sham, affecting only a tiny sliver of the budget, and, by the way, it wouldn't take place until 2011 after the midterm elections. That is, if Congress adopts it. Lawmakers say that under his plan, spending will still rise by 44.3 percent instead of 45 percent over the next 10 years. That's why the recent GOP victory in Massachusetts was barely a tremor for the Democrats compared to the real disaster that's coming in November.
