Ding Dong the "Witch"(Universal Healthcare) is DEAD (maybe)

S. Lindsey's picture

"Speaker Nancy Pelosi says House does not have the votes to pass the Senate's version of a health insurance bill that is now in severe jeopardy of being scrapped."

With Scott Browns election the Senate loses its Filibuster proof Supermajority.

President Obama has hinted that he may be open to a much watered down scaled back version of his Healthcare bill.

His position was not Pelosi's position however who has vowed to press ahead despite the Polls and despite the fact most Americans do not favor the bill.

However today is as they say a different day.

"In its present form without any changes I don't think it's possible to pass the Senate bill in the House," said Pelosi, D-Calif. "I don't see the votes for it at this time."

"We're not in a big rush. We'll pause," Pelosi said. "We have to know what our possibilities are"

My question is SINCE WHEN?

With a POSSIBLE break in the Senate's Supermajority and the House's inability to pass the Senate’s version.. The Healthcare bill as it is crafted right now is essentially dead at this point.

Long live the Independents. The Independents will speak again in November both parties will hear them. Who will actually listen is however the question.

"DEVELOPING ...

WASHINGTON -- President Obama says his health care overhaul has "run into a bit of a buzz saw" and acknowledges the process is looking ugly. Nonetheless he says he'll keep working to finish sweeping legislation.

In comments prepared for a town hall meeting in Ohio Friday, Obama said that the GOP victory in Tuesday's Senate election in Massachusetts has thrown Washington into something of a frenzy.

Republican Scott Brown's victory denied Democrats the 60-vote filibuster-proof majority needed to advance the health care bill.

Obama also said the health effort ran into a buzz saw of partisan politics and special interest opposition.

But Obama said he had no illusions that overhauling the health care system would be easy. And, added, "I am not going to walk away just because it's hard."

LINK

A couple of things:

The town hall meeting isn't until 2:00, so the comments could change. Of course, they have to be prepared and pre-loaded for the teleprompter-in-chief to use.

Hopefully, he and the other Dems in Washington still don't really get it. The buzzsaw they ran into was "partisan politics and special interest opposition"????? Lots of folks think that the American people who oppose that bloated, vote-buying, entitlement giving, pork laden abortion of a bill is the buzz saw. This is just getting better and better....

The Healthcare bill as it is crafted right now is essentially dead at this point.

There are some points in this health care proposal that are needed NOW!

1. Pre-existing conditions based refusal gone!
2. No stopping coverage if/when you become 'sick'.
3. Stop the graft/waste in Medicare/Medicaid.

The pork and the rest of this waste of time and effort can be dealt with later. If this Congress can't serve the people and get this done - then they'll all be gone regardless of 'party'.

Partisanship has killed 'democracy'.

"The pork and the rest of this waste of time and effort can be dealt with later."

The problem with this statement is that if this bill passes it (pork etc)won't ever be dealt with. Regan said it best when he said:

"No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. So, governments' programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth."

If the government really wants to see that everybody has health coverage why not just make Medicare available to everybody and charge on a sliding scale based on income? Don't increase rates for preexisting conditions. Your income is the sole determining factor for cost and you can't be turned down. Now it's just another choice. If someone still chooses not to purchase coverage they can go to a free clinic or Grady. Those that are happy with what they have through work or whatever keep it no questions asked.

"There are some points in this health care proposal that are needed NOW!"

Why are the items you mentioned needed "NOW!"?

Isn't rushing a bill that people don't want exactly what got the libs into trouble in the first place? Obama acted as if the fate of the entire U.S. economy hung in the balance if his beloved "health care" bill didn't get passed. He was using fear-mongering to scare people into thinking that if the bill didn't pass that America was doomed.

Trouble is, he didn't do what he promised on the campaign trail. He's proven to be ineffective, immature, and a liar and America cannot trust him to do the right thing. He's beholden to ACORN, the Unions, and special interests. He's not interested in making America better, he's interested in "transforming" it into a socialist nirvana.

Thank the Lord that the libs lost the Massachusetts election. America will be better off for it.

I haven't heard anyone say that they don't want the waste and corruption in Medicare/Medicaid stopped. I haven't heard anyone say that they want pre-condition to remain as acceptance/refusal of insurance coverage. I haven't heard anyone say that they do not feel that there should be affordable health care in our country. You are so intent on Obama failing - that you and those like you can't see beyond your hatred. The most conservative person here has reasons for their opinions other than hate for the current POTUS. The American people need assistance. We do not have to have all of this argument over the specifics, etc. at this time in order to get help. American citizens are relying on ER rooms for medical care. Come on people/Congress - we can do better than this. The Independents are sick of this partisanship. That is the message from Massachusetts. Congress needs to listen - and Obama needs to lead. The bills that came out of Congress are a colossal mess.

I fully support getting rid of Medicare waste & fraud, but guess what--you don't need legislation to do that! You just need honest, efficient management of the current system--and that could have been done yrs ago without fanfare & opublicity. But no, those politicians must make it look like they're creating something new. A pox on them all!

No disagreement here. I just want it done now - so that funds can be expended to provide affordable healthcare for more of our citizens.

Oh Lord have mercy! Americans have to get their medical care in emergency rooms.
Which Americans, DM? - The ones that are too lazy to go out and get a job and resort to robbing innocent people? Enough of this socialist entitlement mentality – Not everyone is a victim. Some of us can stand up for ourselves, work hard, and aren’t waiting for a government handout at every turn.

The message from Massachusetts was that the ineffective, immature, egotistical, lying Obama, the libs, and their efforts to cram down a disaster of a bill so that they could claim a hollow victory at the expense of hard working Americans will not be tolerated. Obama was under the false impression that Americans are stupid and that he could pull the wool over their eyes.

Americans are smart, they see through his outright lies, and have had enough. Obama is now a lame duck. We have seen through his blind ambition and his lies and we now know that he cannot be trusted.

So, Joe, since you read election messages so well,

What was the message from New York's 23d district in November?

Forget fog. It doesn't stink. You are back to being molded meat in the back corner of the fridge. I've gotta go buy some baking soda!

Like Obama, you are a very small, immature man. "Molded Meat"? How old are you - 15?

You bring my late mother into this discussion again, right after I just informed you that she was no longer with us.

What a mean, hateful, evil, despicable excuse for a human being you are. I feel so sorry for David.

I want to sincerely thank you for this post, Joe, because it is truly revealing.

Deep down, you and your fellow travelers believe Americans who find themselves outside the employer insurance network are simply lazy, goldbricking losers who are undeserving of any effort to fill gaps in the current system or come up with a better one. As long as most people have it OK, why should we give two figs about them?

Most reform opponents are too polite (or maybe self-conscious) to put it as bluntly as you have. I applaud your honesty.

this was/is a BAD bill.. Period.

Not to mention mostly un-constitutional.

You can't have out and out BRIBES, closed door deals and provisions that FORCE citizens to purchase something under threat of incarceration and expect the citizens not to react.

And react they did Tuesday. Even Obama had to admit there is a lot of “ANGER” out there.. He just missed a little point.. He thinks they are angry BECAUSE they have not done the deal yet.. He still doesn’t get it.

America does not want the Government involved in their Healthcare.. at least not to the extent that Reid and Pelosi is pushing it.

Hopefully this will get them to fix this the right way and stop trying to control us.

This crop of politicians will absolutely say ANYTHING.. It is sort of like catching your spouse with another lover and you have pics to prove it and they say "Who are you going to believe me or those lying pictures"?

Pelosi is the worst of them I think she actually believes some of what she says.

Yes, let's all toast the death of “universal healthcare.” We certainly wouldn’t want all U.S. citizens to have affordable access to the insurance network regardless of employment status or medical history, now would we?

WE did celebrate and still are. Anytime America can stop the ABORTION that has become the political process in DC it is time to celebrate.

Maybe we can hit the reset button and DO IT RIGHT instead of the HANDOUTs to Big Pharmacuticals and BIG Insurance.. you know those you are supposed to hate.
