BTW, large engines like those shown in the video burn over 100 gallons of Jet-A (very similar diesel fuel) every minute at full power.

Back before the jet age, piston engines consumed gasoline at about 100 gallons an hour at full power.

That aircraft could transport something like 180 individuals and all its gear for a ninety minute flight to Charlotte, NC. A piston driven aircraft could not lift a fraction of the weight and took much longer.
