White House gets marching orders from Unions

Mark my words - Union members will be exempt from these new taxes on "Cadillac" health plans. Obama will take care of his union buddies and hang the rest of us out to dry.

"Look For The Union Label" to "From Your Pocket To Ours!"

You are one of the very few.

1. You guys are arguing about the lack of transparency, and yet you gents have all of the details of the coming legislation. how do you guys get all of the "secrets" Hutch? I don't get it. Secretive deals that you know about?

2. Hutch: Is YOUR healthcare going to be taxed? YOURS, Hutch. Is it going to be taxed? Do you know this to be true?

Look what Republican Governors like Tim Paulenty and Mitt Romney have done in attempts to balance budgets. They juggle fees and taxes. It's happening right here in Fayette County. How can tea partiers clamor about an unbalanced budget and then about mechanisms to balance that budget?

Again, Hutch, the soup is still on the stove and ingredients are being added and subtracted. All of this anger for legislation that isn't even complete is, to me, a waste of venom.

We were informed “AFTER-THE-FACT” Kevin, not during the negotiations!

It’s kinda the same thing when a pilot fly’s 150 miles past the airport and turns around and eventually lands the plane. The error was “transparent” to the passengers wasn’t it?

Hear are some definitions of “Transparent”

- Capable of transmitting light so that objects or images can be seen as if there were no intervening material. See Synonyms at clear.
- So fine in texture that it can be seen through; sheer.
- Easily seen through or detected; obvious.
- Free from guile; candid or open.

Hear are some definitions of “Closed-door”

- Not open to the public.
- An obstacle or restriction.
- Private; barred to members of the public.

Please tell us how closed-door negotiations and transparent are synonymous with one another.

AFL-CIO drops opposition to health care tax over objections from some unions

“WASHINGTON - After almost a week of pressure from the Obama White House and intense closed-door negotiations, union leaders decided to drop organized labor’s opposition to taxing health insurance.”

That’s a direct quote from the AFL-CIO by the way.

As per “Politics Daily”

“House and Senate negotiators have agreed on significant changes to the tax on high-dollar insurance plans in the health care bill, Richard Trumka, the president of the AFL-CIO, announced Thursday.”

But feel free. Dig for a reply I sent to Gitreal. I'm not a CSPAN voter. I sent my guy to Washington to do his job. I don't watch the auto mechanic change my oil. I don't stand over the heating and air guy's shoulder. I couldn't care less about seeing all of the details in ongoing legislation. Folks that study the minutia rate the Obama administration as one of the most open to date. But you don't care about that. And I don't care that you don't care. This is a non-issue for moi.

Just for fun Hack, how do you define “transparency”?

F.Y.I. Hack, I would equate watching CSPAN to watching paint dry with the added benefit of watching your and my tax dollars accomplishing little.

Hack, you were the one that was touting “transparency”, see bold in my previous post, and when confronted with the truth you ran and tried to hide behind your CSPAN mantra.

As far as watching the auto mechanic work on my car, you can bet your bottom I do. I just don’t have the faith in anyone to do the right thing for the right reasons anymore. The ‘fast buck’ surpassed personnel integrity somewhere in 2007 if not earlier.

As for whose ‘running the ship’ currently I said it before and I’ll say it again, we only had a choice of the lesser of two undesirables’ last November. Neither party ran a true statesman or a clearly defined leader. We ended up with the best two losers had to offer.

Please remember it was Pres. Obama that promised “transparency” in almost every speech he gave. McCain simply chose a “transparent” running mate with Caribou Barbie.

In closing, if you feel “transparency” is letting the select few, unions via closed-door meetings, announce to the American people that the current administration has once again granted special favors to help push a corrupt and misguided agenda forward without first disclosing their intent, so be it. Just man-up and say it and quit trying to hide behind what the Chaney administration may or may not have done.

You seem to pick and choose the questions that you'll answer here. I have excellent health care, excellent, so yes I am afraid that mine will be taxed, and guess what, My wife and I make less then the 250K that was promised as a limit. Now the difference as I see it is that while there is a question about mine, there seems to be none about yours, all because your in a union? Does that really make sense? I don't trust what is coming out of our Capitol because it is worded vaguely and open to interpretation after it is passed. You seem to lump me in with the Tea Partiers, have I ever mentioned them on these blogs? Yes the soup is on the stove, but the aroma isn't to my liking so far. Maybe I'll be surprised, but I doubt it.

None of us can answer all of the questions flying around here. I refuse to live on this blankety blank computer. I'll give this one last shot and then the great outdoors calls.

You are "afraid" your healthcare will be taxed. You do not know that it will be.

All of us are commenting on an unfinished product. We were worried there would be single payer. There was much gnashing of teeth. Alas, there will be no single payer.

Some were horrified that there would be death panels and abortion funding (similar to that which was in the GOP healthcare policy at the time). There was fear and anger. That fear and anger was for not because neither is in existence now.

So for people to lower themselves to immature name calling and "the middle class is being screwed" arguments on legislation that is as fluid as the DOW Industrial to me is very interesting; especially when the main complainers (not you specifically Hutch) had no problem with the government growing in size while millionaires received tax breaks. These same people try to scapegoat unions when the whole reason unions exist is because greed leads some large business owners to work people in unsafe conditions (mine companies) for unreasonable hours at unreasonable wages (the textile industry of old). How conveniently we forget mine companies who short-cutted safety measures like underground oxygen stations to save money. Then when miners died, we were shocked! Shocked I say!

Big businesses and health insurance companies have their lobbies. Conservatives are arguing side by side with them. That says alot to me, Hutch.

As for taxes on healthcare plans, I have explained that we negotiated away pay for healthcare. Those that have not are arguing apples and oranges. And if you can't tell me with certainty that YOU will be taxed while receiving no reduction in healthcare costs, then you are prematurely angry. I don't know what the final legislation will look like, so I can't weigh in with certainty. Fairness, IMHO, would dictate that all insured person's healthcare expenses plus compensation be affected similarly. If my healthcare gets taxed then I would expect a tax cut in pay to account for the pay I gave up for the healthcare. If your healthcare actually does get taxed I would expect your overall healthcare cost to be reduced in the signed legislation. If your healthcare cost is not reduced (or at least inflated at a slower rate than you currently experience), I would call the new system unfair. But you don't know. I don't know. But I do know where filthy stinking rich folks are weighing in on this. And United healthcare, the company that has dictated what pills I can and cannot take, and what doctors I can and cannot see, would love for the system to stay as is.

I'm not arguing their point for them.. And I ain't wasting any more time on this puter.

Since we are answering all questions, why did conservatives not have tea parties the first 8 years of our deficit growth?

You said it was a "minority" of tea partiers. You said it was not representative of the group. Now you are saying the signs were not there????? Do I need to post them again? The only difference between a tea party and a republican gathering are the tea bags hanging from hats. 9/12: A group that thinks Sara Palin has a political future; a group who align themselves with the man who thinks our President has a "deep seeded hatred for white people." When I think of tea partiers, I think sour grapes....people who lost last time and want to believe that McCain and Palin the woman at war with her former campaign staff would have had all of the answers. They would have started with "bomb bomb bomb Iran," moved on to the "I'm not too smart on Economics" agenda, and then they would have come up with great reasons why liberals were the reason all of our problems were not being solved immediately.
I just see and HEAR sour grapes, bro.....sour grapes. You (as in Republicans) will win seats in 2010, but you had best find actual ideas if you expect voters by and large to latch to your wagon. Just my two pennies.

Did you try to imply that I am Gort???

anyway...

So you infer to Gort that the pictures don't exist.

Then you say you saw the pictures i posted but they are "out of context?" But, of course, that means they DO EXIST.

Did the Huffington Post doctor the photos?

Can you tell me why the Tea Party would not publish photos of folks with Confederate flags and Nazi references towards the political opposition?

Why would they supress those Lindsey? But more importantly....

PICK AN ARGUMENT:

A) The pictures do not exist because Tea Party patriots would not allow their movement's message to be hijacked.

OR

B) The pictures DO exist, but this is a minority of attendees.

Hopefully you can see the impossibility of arguing both A and B.

By the way, I'll help with your selection (the life coaching part)

but then again I have no need of one..

Anyone can pick and choose pics that fit an agenda.. I guess by your claiming that all teaparty/912 people are Nazis then by association I am too..

Bushnazi 1

I hate Republicans

Democrats for Che

We are all Socialist Now

I guess these guys are Nazis too..

Black Conservatives in the Teaparty Movement

Ok I can live with your assessment the same way Dm, you and others claim by not standing with Obama while he "transforms" America into a Socialist Nation.. we are called "Racist".

These things are all you guys have.. You are nothing without demonizing mainstream America and the ones who are on the "Right" side of things.

30% of Americans self identify as Liberal. While 40% self identify as Conservative.. and that number continues to grow.. What have Progressives like you done but bring down America.

Progressives brought us:

The Federal Reserve

Prohibition

The Income Tax

Let's see what else you guys represent:

"All that progressives ask or desire," wrote Woodrow Wilson, "is permission--in an era when development, evolution, is a scientific word--to interpret the Constitution according to the Darwinian principle; all they ask is recognition of the fact that a nation is a living thing and not a machine."

The Founders believed that all men are created equal and that they have certain inalienable rights. All are also obliged to obey the natural law, under which we have not only rights but duties. We are obliged "to respect those rights in others which we value in ourselves" (Jefferson)

"The Progressives rejected these claims as naive and unhistorical. In their view, human beings are not born free. John Dewey, the most thoughtful of the Progressives, wrote that freedom is not "something that individuals have as a ready-made possession.""

For the Founders, then, the individual's existence and freedom in this crucial respect are not a gift of government. They are a gift of God and nature. Government is therefore always and fundamentally in the service of the individual, not the other way around. The purpose of government, then, is to enforce the natural law for the members of the political community by securing the people's natural rights.

The Progressives regarded the Founders' scheme as defective because it took too benign a view of nature. As Dewey remarked, they thought that the individual was ready-made by nature. The Founders' supposed failure to recognize the crucial role of society led the Progressives to disparage the Founders' insistence on limited government.

In accordance with their conviction that all human beings are by nature free, the Founders taught that political society is "formed by a voluntary association of individuals: It is a social compact, by which the whole people covenants with each citizen, and each citizen with the whole people, that all shall be governed by certain laws for the common good" (Massachusetts Constitution of 1780).

The Progressives treated the social compact idea with scorn. Charles Merriam, a leading Progressive political scientist, wrote:

The individualistic ideas of the "natural right" school of political theory, indorsed in the Revolution, are discredited and repudiated…. The origin of the state is regarded, not as the result of a deliberate agreement among men, but as the result of historical development, instinctive rather than conscious; and rights are considered to have their source not in nature, but in law.

For the Founders, the purpose of government is to protect the private sphere, which they regarded as the proper home of both the high and the low, of the important and the merely urgent, of God, religion, and science, as well as providing for the needs of the body.

Because of the Progressives' tendency to view the state as divine and the natural as low, they no longer looked upon the private sphere as that which was to be protected by government. Instead, the realm of the private was seen as the realm of selfishness and oppression. Private property was especially singled out for criticism. Some Progressives openly or covertly spoke of themselves as socialists.

The Founders thought that laws should be made by a body of elected officials with roots in local communities. They should not be "experts," but they should have "most wisdom to discern, and most virtue to pursue, the common good of the society" (Madison). The wisdom in question was the kind on display in The Federalist, which relentlessly dissected the political errors of the previous decade in terms accessible to any person of intelligence and common sense.

The Progressives wanted to sweep away what they regarded as this amateurism in politics. They had confidence that modern science had superseded the perspective of the liberally educated statesman. Only those educated in the top universities, preferably in the social sciences, were thought to be capable of governing.

All of this sounds familiar? It is TODAYS Liberal.. which was hijacked by the Progressive movement when Americans wanted to put a stop to their madness. We see it today in the Michael Moore, George Soros crowd.
I could go on and on for days about you guys, but why bother.. The Democrat party needs to discover who they were.. If not as I opined last year.. They are done as a Party in this Country. We are starting to see the push back by Americans in Massachusetts. The very fact that Brown MIGHT WIN is in and of itself ground shattering for the Democrats.
That is why all you progressives have to attack the Teaparty/912 people.. We represent a threat to your transforming America campaign.

November 2010 represents the beginning of a new revolution of Mainstream Americans.

"I guess by your claiming that all teaparty/912 people are Nazis then by association I am too.."

that is a L I E told by Y O U. I've never said that. You just pulled it out of thin air.

"Ok I can live with your assessment the same way Dm, you and others claim by not standing with Obama while he "transforms" America into a Socialist Nation.. we are called "Racist"."

Another Lie..... and nonsensical. I claim that by not standing with our president you are called racists? What in God's name does that even mean? And when have I called anyone racist for not supporting The POTUS? I've called people holding signs that said, and I qoute:

"There is an African lion in the Zoo and an African lying in the White House"
I've called them racist. But you absolutely distort and disfigure my words with your paranoia when you claim I call non-Obama supporters racists. I don't think Walter Williams, Armstrong Williams, or LArry Elder are Racists.

You argue far worse than my obtuse Beagle on her worst day. I'm quite serious. And she can at least admit, by holding her head low and crouching, that she is wrong sometimes.

You predict the democratic party which holds the White House and both houses of Congress is dead.......

Monday at about 0921 Cyclist stated this:"I don't think Gort/Hack will ever answer that one for obvious reasons."

Six minutes later you replied this:"What's up with the multiple personalities?"

I then asked you point blank if you were implying I was Gort.

So, S and L, what exactly did you mean by this: "I was responding to CY.. on the MP issue.. you will have to go back a ways.."

Ummm... I went back a ways. What was the MP thing?

I concede that on one level this is a minor point. But that is all the more puzzling. Why would someone not concede that they were in error on such a minor point? All I can come up with is you truly lack the ability to admit you boned something up. That's very interesting.

By the way, Brown, who one the better campaign, is at his victory party with the crowd shouting "41." By my math, subtracting that number from an hundred, the democrats are far from dead.

Oh, please, your embarrassing yourself. I seen your “Tea Party” on Fox News when they had all day coverage of the 9/12 March on Washington. There were so many signs with swastikas’, hammers and cycles, in the crowd, for a minute, I thought I was watching the History channel. You must have seen it on TV? If their message got lost in the symbolism, it’s their own fault.

I don’t know were you got the idea that you hurt my feelings? In the future should I capitalize every letter?

Anyway, I’ll be busy for a month or two but I’ll be back soon enough. Be ready, I’ll do my best to stick a rhetorical finger in your eye. You can call me names, not answer my questions, and accuse me of having an ‘agenda’ or some other diabolical ‘ulterior motive,’ all over again.

In the meantime, for your own mental health, please take my advice. Push that keyboard away from your belly. Turn your eyes away from that monitor. Walk upstairs to your attic. Curl up on the floor with your blanket. We all know that there are some in this community that belong to unions. Heck, I even work besides fellow company employees that are unions members. But because of Barry's decree they are immune to new taxes; you know, the taxes he said would not happen to the middle class. Sad

Cyclist, I guess I just don’t see it the way you do. In my opinion, there is not one business, or tradesman, in all Fayette County, that has not indirectly benefited from the wages of the union members living in the community. They live here and spend their money on goods and services here. If they don’t have to pay extra taxes, they will spend that money here too.

Instead of being jealous of their good fortune perhaps some of that outrage could be directed at our senatorial delegation. Why not ask them, why they didn’t get a ‘sweetheart’ deal for the people of Georgia?

But please, don’t tell me it was because of the Democrats. You would need to be blind not to see the leverage Olympia Snow had on the process. Can you imagine the leverage of two votes?

As far as the “Tea Party” goes, well. They march under signs with swastika’s and the hammer and cycle. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. I don’t want anything to do with them.

Third party,.. good luck. The established party's would come at you with everything they got. Ask H. Ross Perot. Ask a Libertarian. Ask Ralph Nader. History is littered with those that tried. Your fooling yourself if you think something like that is going to happen.

Good Fortune my tookus! It's political corruption and payback, pure and simple. You ask why our Senators didn't work out a similar "Sweetheart" deal for Georgians--Well just maybe they don't have the same hunger for corruption as some others do. Snowe? That's easy--RINO, RINO, RINO. No one disputes the value of union members in our community--but they don't deserve special tax treatment any more than the rest of us.

Athomegym, that’s strange, I didn’t see anything about virtue on their web site. Good thing your here to tell us about it. I would have never known.

the Tax Deal with Big Labor, I doubt that you would recognize virtue if it smacked you between the eyes--repeatedly.

did not include the stipulation that no one else could get the same deal. Collective bargaining is a good thing. God Bless America.

It's not easy being the carbonunit

If they don’t have to pay extra taxes, they will spend that money here too.

Why not ensure that the remaining 86% of the work force is not taxed so they can spend that money in their respective communities? After all, Georgia - like many other states - have seen it's revenue streams shrink due to a lack of sales taxes.

You might not realize it but this whole deal thingy is not making Barry nor the Demos very popular right now. Let's see what happens on Tuesday.

Cyclist, are you telling us that the 86% of the rest of the workforce has “Cadillac:’ health plans they have to pay an extra tax on? I don’t think you have the correct number.

opportunity to speak with the POTUS. I hope all those Demos in swing districts get the boot this year and he is gone in 2012.

indentured servant status at best.

What part of that don't you understand?

You have no 'right' nor should you have any expectation to ever address “he that should not be questioned”.

You are a minion, get over it and behave as such.

Damn good thing you don’t build Hondas in TN or work for Uncle Sugar. If you did you would have learned how to bow correctly by now and not ask questions.

If you were a CFO of a large bank, a lawyer employed by such, you could tell Mr. Pres. to go pound sand and demand your 8 figure bonus.

Do you have any other questions?

Perhaps this Tuesday something wonderful could happen, a shout heard throughout the country.

Good morning to the two of you.
For the sake of argument (actually prodding), concerning photos of Palin and Brown, if given the choice between pin ups of these two and those of Barney Frank and Maxine Waters, which would you choose?
Just thought I'd add a bit of sweetener to your morning coffee.
Have a great day guys.

Simple math still looks pretty good to me. Would you rather trade numbers and the White House with the democrats, or do you prefer to have 41 Senators, and no executive? I think I know the answer. Now congress can get back to getting nothing done Laughing out loud

Mass. just sent a Senator to Washington who posed nude in a magazine as a mature adult.

Sara Palin enthusiastically endorsed this man who posed nude as an adult.

Sara Palin also enthusiastically criticized the young, immature father of her grand child for doing THE SAME THING.

That's interesting right there, and I doubt this picture is going away.

Mike King, I'm pickin Palin on the calendar question....every time. All looks. That is why we know who she is.

Wow we are full of it today arn't we..?

One has no relationship with the other.. Let's see one guy is the FATHER of her grandchild and the other is a politician on the other side of America..

Yep I see the linkage..

If you had a picture of Harry Reid posing for Cosmo....or Barack posing for Cosmo....or Rahm.....or Nancy..... or any other well known democrat posing in the bare for Cosmopolitan Magazine, you would run it up a flag pole, duct tape it to your truck, and drive it to the next Tea Party gathering. Smiling You know it. We all do. This is why we tell our children to be careful what they do....what pictures they take....what decisions they make. Because one day you may be somebody.

I think it's rather flattering, personally. And what can he say if his daughters follow suit? Honestly? What can he say?
