Is the ice melting?

Of course it is! It is now possible to sail the Northwest Passage now in winter or summer. First time in history.

Finally the Northwest Passage has been found.

Might it freeze over again in 10,000 years as Limbaugh says? I don't know.
Neither does he.
Studies of tree rings however does indicate that the tree growth has increased in winter due to a slight increase in normal temperatures.

If one can not see and believe that we have polluted the air we breathe and also fogged up the upper sky so as to hold too much heat here rather than deflect it out wards, then I suppose the earth is still flat and the sun still circumnavigates the earth! There are also real witches---not to be confused by the current bitches we have.

Don't be selfish, help out your descendent's to live better.

This quote is from someone almost as old as you......"There is something fascinating about science. One gets such wholesale returns of conjecture out of such a trifling investment of fact."

in 2009. I have quickly reviewed sea ice logs and diagrams for the months of Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov and found no open passage to traverse. Typical bovine excretion, courtesy of Bonkers

The Northwest Passage opened up for an extended period in 2005 for the first time in over 1000 years as can be seen here:

Arctic Ocean sea ice diminishes to record low

It was definitely open in 2009. Check here for the images:

Quotes:
NASA satellite images indicate "the Arctic is in a death spiral caused by global warming." It has been occurring for sometime.

NSIDC "The Passages are open. It is a historic event."

All this is not to say that there isn't much to happen yet to clear a wide swath for huge tankers, etc. but it is open to good navigation---and it hasn't been very often before---even for a sailboat.

Some simply can not see a hundred years or even fifty years in advance. Don't even mention a thousand years to them.

I suppose you dudes feel we Will not live on Mars eventually? By "we" I mean people with some imagination.

No need for you to mention anyone's excretion unless you want to cover up your ignorance!

How about some four hundred years hence when the Vikings named a mini continent Greenland based upon its fertile soil and lush vegetation? Even you would admit that our world has cooled off since-well maybe not. Point is the earth temperatures rise and fall and have done so throughout the ages without the help of man.

Or are you one of those that believe the glaciers melted to form the Great Lakes due to excessive carbon emmissions resulting from mastadon manure?

We know nothing about the Vikings in this area for sure.

They found some stuff similar to the gnostic gospels that may be about
the Vikings, and they named something "Vinland" also and it has never had a grape on it!

If they came in those old rickety boats in the open air, then they must have found Maine, Or Nova Scotia, if anything.

In 5010 I suspect they will argue if we were the missing link!

It's obvious that comprehension is not among your attributes, therefore I must assume that activities such as reading or research are but a waste of time for those of your intellect.

First we fouled the water (love canal, etc.) now we are fouling the air. Doctors are getting rich treating lung and respiratory problems.

There are only two things left for us to destroy:
Upper atmosphere and the dirt. (I suppose eventually the galaxy).

You guys need not worry it may not happen in what few years you have left.

There is no such thing as a government wasting money---just print more. It distributes better that way.

Ya know that Love Canal was not actually a canal at the time, but the name of the land that a subdivision was built purposely on a Chemical waste dump? or that Niagara Falls forced the company to sell the land for housing and the company fought to keep building from happening?
Do you even know the science behind this? We are fouling the land with our own (and every living thing's) breath? CO2 that plants need to survive and thrive? How would you have us live there Bonkers? What do you suggest?

Get on the NSIDC website- no open NW passge. Also, the record that they cite is only the satellite record- going back to the mid to late 60's. There have been periods of even less ice- look to the news reports from the 1920's. Once again, scrubbed the press releases and the website- no open NW passge. Certainly you remember seeing the papers in the 20's don't you?
