Too cold for Teabags?

George Washington personally crossed the icy river to fight.
Is it too cold for the local Tea people? I miss their gatherings on TV although Hannity fakes some of the crowds.

I can't figure out yet who they are or what they want. No taxes of course but they might as well ask for their soul's salvation now as that!

No democrats in office I suppose, but that also isn't very likely.
Certainly they don't want any of their women to have an abortion---nor any other woman. Also not likely and none of their business.

The crowds appear pretty white looking. Maybe I just haven't seen enough of them to judge.

They seem to hate "towel heads" whatever that is, and AAArabbs," Muslim or not. I hardly ever se one here myself. A few London and on TV in New York. Mostly we have to go to their places to see them (Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemin). Them thar Iranians air Persian, ain't they? What air Persians if not AAArabbs? Didn't they conquer Israel territory once? Didn't we hep the Mullahs oncest to throw out a Shah (I don't know what that is though). Now it air hard to throw out the Mullahs, or air they Imams?

These folks still wave Rebel flags too. I ain't got no object to that but don't no whut it mean!
Could it be they want to succeed?

They seem to have a pecular attitude toward air current President too. Something about they can't imagine howe he got there. They also claim to not know what he is up to! They also detest a Pelosi and a Harry rail bad. They say demos have too many votes and don't know why thet happened.

If only Sir Renaldo wuz back hit wouldn't haf happened.

I jest ain't gettin it.

Boinkers... He knows not what he does..

2k10 is going to be surprise for a lot of people.

The 9/12 project and Teaparty project will raise more then just a few eyebrows..

People like Boink, Hack and others totally dismissed us when this first started.. Now we are MILLIONS strong.. and growing daily.

A recent poll placed a non-existant "TEAPARTY" party over the Republicans and the Dems..

"Among voters not affiliated with either major party, the Tea Party movement emerged victorious, the results indicated. Thirty-three percent of people surveyed said they preferred the Tea Party candidate, 30 percent said they were undecided, 25 percent would vote for a Democrat, and 12 percent favored the GOP. " Rasmussen Polling

"In a three-way generic ballot test, results found Democrats attracting 36 percent of the vote, the Tea Party candidate garnered 23 percent and Republicans collected 18 percent, Rasmussen said in a release. Another 22 percent of respondents said they were undecided."

and the "Teaparty" party does not even exist.. at least not yet..

Are the Tea Party groupies trying to form a new party or are they trying to reform the Republican party so there would actually be a difference between the dems and republicans?

Why are so many extreme left liberal/socialist dems so offended when people compare our current president to a socialist/marxist nazi? That is what they wanted. That is why they voted for obama. They loved his extreme liberal socialist wild ideas.

JeffC's picture
Submitted by JeffC on Thu, 01/07/2010 - 5:10pm.

Because he's not a socialist/marxist. Your Party has moved to the right so much that your perspective is skewed. Your side will keep up the "marxist" accusations trying to make us look like extremists, my side will point to your side labeling us as extreme liberal socialists as an example of how extreme your side has become. The centrists will evaluate the arguments, vote, and decide the election. I don't believe that you can convince the majority of the voters that Obama is a marxist but I do believe that the Dems can use your sides rhetoric to good advantage in making it seem that you all are the extremist Party. No offense meant, of course.

(Fair warning to all: I am super busy right now and will not be able to respond to the upcoming lists of examples "proving" Obama's marxist/socialist nazism but I'll try to read them when I have more time).

Stay warm!

Keep deluding yourself that the Republicans have moved so far to the right and that your own is so centrist! The Repubs have forgotten what they should be standing for and the Dems never knew! They all, with few exceptions, have forgotten who they work for and what they should be doing in Washington! And don't worry that I'll try to "prove" that Obama is what he is, a marxist, with lists of examples. You're a fairly smart guy (for a Carter) and will one day figure it out for yourself! One suggestion, though, take off the blinders. You'll see things so much clearer!

For recognizing how smart I really am! As to the blinders, well, I'm too old to change now and having too much fun, and anyway, it would be boring here if I didn't provoke everyone every now and then.

Having said that, before I get too, too old, I might write a book denouncing the liberals and suck millions of dollars out of you right wing extremists! Rush and Sean would have me on selling it to the gullible masses and NewsMax and WorldNetDaily would buy thousands of copies to give away if you subscribed to their magazines. I could get the future former President Palin to write a blurb for the back cover!

When it's published, don't buy it. I'll send you a free autographed copy from my island.

C&P sorry but here it is..

There is much talk of the formation of a third political party based on the tea party movement. In Florida, a Democratic operative with absolutely no connection to the tea party movement has filed papers to form a third party called the Florida Tea Party. He has issued legal threats against local tea parties demanding that they cease using the name "Florida Tea Party."

Tea Party Patriots is issuing this statement in order to make it clear that we are not associated with this, or any attempts to form a third party. Additionally, we believe that such efforts are unproductive and unwise at this time. The history of third party movements in this country is one of division and defeat. We believe that it is instead time for all Americans to rise up and demand appropriate reform within their own parties. The mechanisms exist for citizens to participate in their parties, and to drive their parties in the right direction.

The Tea Party Patriots encourage all citizens to get involved in the party process, and to reshape their parties into something in which they may once again believe. This country does not belong to any one party, nor does it belong to the career politicians. This country belongs to the citizens. As Benjamin Franklin once said, "We have given you a republic madam, if you can keep it." The founders knew that it would be our sacred obligation as citizens to get involved, and to work hard to hold on to this great nation. We have much work to do, and future generations will look back in judgment. We hope you will join us in preserving the republic.

Arguing about stereotypes and the reductio ad absurdum arguments is fun but futile. Neither side will ever convince the other in this hyper-partisan atmosphere, so arguments among the politically aware people like the ones who read and participate here can never be won.

However, the politics of all this is very interesting too, and that leads to something that can be decided and won and that is elections. The Teaparty phenomenon is interesting for several reasons. Essentially, the Teaparty represents a fracturing of the Republican Party; a break between the fiscal conservatives and the sex obsessed wing of the party whose concern is almost exclusively fighting gay rights and promoting government control of the reproductive choices of the citizens. But, as you note, the TP is not really a party and that's a huge problem.

In my opinion, it is virtually impossible to form a new political party from scratch. Besides the current election laws which lock in the two parties, historically, new political parties come about when old parties break apart. There is a zero prospect of a three way race as in your poll. So, the first battle is going to be in the Republican primaries and it looks like it's going to be a vicious fight. If the TP doesn't put up the candidates then who cares how many rallies they hold; they're just another lobbying group. They don't seem like just another lobbying group so I'm expecting some TP candidates running in the primaries.

The TPers are really an insurgent faction. It's so new it's unfocused and unled and undisciplined. Any insurgency with a chance to topple the power structure attracts elements from others who want to topple the power structure too; even though that's where the commonality ends. The Nazi's and weirdos at the TP rallies are just a reflection of lack of party discipline because of no leader, coupled with radicals attracted to an antiestablishment faction that is showing some strength. You know this is true because I bet you can't imagine anyone to lead the TP who wouldn't kick out the Nazis and a few more. Being leaderless allows the opposition to define you and they will try to define you as a radical party infested with Nazis and fringe thinkers. Hey! Look at the signs at their rallies! Pointing out the fringe groups in the Ds Party is not going to be anywhere near as effective in scaring people because the Ds are pretty much defined already and voters are used to them.

Before the TP runs against the Ds though, it has got to run against the Rs, and that's going to be a really big intraparty fight. Look at Brats comment, "Will they rid the Republicans of their "wolves in sheep's clothing"?" I like that attitude! They are willing to shrink the Republican Party down to a base core of true believers; a guaranteed losing electoral strategy but acceptable as long as ideological purity is maintained. That used to be our trap and you are welcome to it.

Either way it looks fairly good from my point of view. I'd like a more balanced Congress, still retaining its Democratic majority, so some Democratic losses are OK with me as usual in a midterm election. The huge gains being projected for a Republican majority seems a long shot fantasy. The Republican primary fight is going to drag the Party more out of the mainstream to the right and if the TPers do win, they'll be characterized as radicals by the Ds in the general election. Plus, a lot of the opposition to Obama showing up in the polls is from the left. A danger for the Ds is our side sitting the election out. A more radical right wing Republican Party can only motivate and alarm the left now expressing disapproval of Obama and bring them back into the fold.

The TP is not going to be an asset to the establishment Rs in 2010. It's got to fracture the Party and take control or at least show some electoral strength to be effective. If the TP is strong enough to do that it hurts the Rs by shrinking the Party affiliation and adding to the up-for-grabs Independents. I'm expecting that round one, 2010, is inconclusive and round two, the 2012 elections, will be even more fractious for the Rs because the stakes will be elevated and Party control might be up for grabs.

The bottom line is that while the TP and Republican Party structure fight it out with each other, the Ds keep their majority in 2010 and Obama wins re-election in 2012.

Submitted by USArmybrat on Thu, 01/07/2010 - 9:53am.

My comment about the "wolves in sheep's clothing" was referring to replacing the elected leaders in the Republican Party. So many of them are no better than the Dems that you guys put up for the vote. As far as your assessment of the Tea Party Patriots, we will see. Hopefully the Republicans will see the writing on the wall and join ranks.

JeffC's picture
Submitted by JeffC on Thu, 01/07/2010 - 11:35am.

I understood your comment and I didn't mean to single you out as any type of lonely fringe thinker. Your comment struck me as an example of the attitude I was trying to describe. It had a kind of "take no prisoners" flavor to it with more than a hint of, "we had to destroy the village to save it", vis-a-vis the Republican Party. I think there are a whole lot of people with similar leanings and that the TP will be a force to be reckoned with. Realistically though, in my opinion and that's all it is, the movement is too new to make huge gains in 2010. I see 2010 as the opening shot for either control or a strong voice in the Party; an initial positioning. The biggest drawback is that the TP is unfocused and leaderless and that makes it more difficult to make huge gains against an entrenched Party. The big test and potential for the TP faction is going to be in 2012 when they choose a leader in the national election to rally behind. If they can get behind someone like Mitt R. they could potentially take over the Party from the Palinistas. Even if they do well in 2010, 2012 is still going to be a much, much bigger opportunity for them simply because it's going to be a Prez election year which always generates more interest.

I still see 2010 as a wash with potential damage to the R establishment, maybe helping the Ds and ending with typical but not overwhelming gains for the out of power Party. It's very similar to the dynamics of the capture of the D. Party by the Kennedy/McGovern wing. The Party became infested with ideologically pure losers because elections are won in the center and the purified bases just don't have enough votes on either side.

Even so, short term damage might be outweighed by the long term gains. Big political realignments are always fractious, divisive, and messy, but you can't make an omelet without breaking some eggs.

In 2010, the people of this wonderful country will rise up to strike. They may take out the control of the Democratic Party, but will they continue? Will they rid the Republicans of their "wolves in sheep's clothing"? Will their anger and fury be enough to bring us back from the brink? I pray that it is so, but I have been disappointed too many times...

Please trust me when I say that the left is certainly giving substantial recognition to the "Tea Party" movement. You see by the preponderance of the "movement" coming from the right, only serves to weaken the GOP while virtually leaving the left untouched. Any student of history will tell you that Teddy Roosevelt was highly favored by the general population of the US, but by alienating himself from the GOP (splitting it, if you will) it insured he would not be reelected.

Remember the 2000 election where the state of Florida finally fell into the GOP corner and Bush was declared winner by an electorial vote majority despite losing the popular vote? The Dems are renown for sitting by and watching their adversaries repeatedly shoot themselves in the foot.

The tea party is going to crush everyone: Dems. Republicans. It will finally give moderate independents just what they want: A party of just regular moms and dads, like S.L. has described. Just normal, moderate folks. They certainly WILL NOT divide the GOP. They are a very different demographic group! Just ask Lindsey Smiling. Heck, Michelle Bachman, who spoke near the NAzi death camp sign, can be the new voice of "moderation."

As for this statement from S.L:

The best "total dismissal" I can find is S.L's response to this post.

It's no surprise that you would ignore the FACT that Michele Bachmann and Dick Armey spoke at tea party gatherings with Nazi banners and "Obama's going to Hell" truth trucks accompanying them. You ignore the FACT that not ONCE did either of them denounce this symbolism. No, you think it more important to focus on who posted the picture. Fair enough. Let's play by your rules:

1. Please show us where democrats have stood shoulder to shoulder sharing a message of pedophilia with Republican Mark Foley.

While you are looking, I'll share these "main stream" regular old moms and dads views from a couple of proud tea party patriots:

Dick Armey explaining how medicare is tyrannical and people probably want out of it.

And this next one is absolutely Riveting! It is a tea party patriot weighing in on our Nation's President's politics:
"Communist in the Whitehouse"

Now, I realize that last source has a credibility problem, but that's all I have to work with. :S .

As to the 9/12 movement you are pumped up about, and God Bless anything that can bring hope to the heart of a "conservative" these days,

Here is the #1 cheerleader of the 9/12 movement.

Now if that isn't a mainstream view, what is, my friend?

Good luck with the movement. I'll be watching with buttered popcorn and a route 44 cherry coke Eye-wink

My impression is that those holding Nazi signs at rallies are insinuating with their signage that Washington has gone Nazi - not that they themselves are Nazis. I may be wrong on this, but I really don't think so. Further, I think that those with "Nazi" signs represent a small percentage of tea party attendees.

Great to hear from you. I hope you survived Christmas and New Year in style!

My point is not that tea partiers are calling themselves Nazis. My point is tea partiers are comfortable calling our President, Speaker of the House, Senate majority leader, and anyone else who they lost politically to in 2008 Nazis. And that is not a main stream view. Dick Armey and Glenn Beck and Michelle Bachmann are hard right tea partiers trying to portray their views as "mainstream." That dog didn't hunt in 2008 and I don't think it's going to bag any prize game in 2010. I'm sure republicans will pick up seats in 2010, but let's see how many Tea Party candidates go to Washington to join the government they have been saying does nothing right.

Take care, and hope to see you soon!

Good to hear from you too.

I find the discussion on the tea party movement taking shape as a viable political party interesting. Where do the Libertarians fit into this picture? If the Republican party is being splintered and the Democrats are losing members - and they have lost a few in the last decade, then could this leave the Libertarians with an edge they have been lacking in previous elections? I see them grabbing up the scraps as something more realistic than a true Tea Party party. Then again, what do I know?

Hope to see you soon, too. Maybe you could make the meeting Jan. 16th? It would be nice to see you again. When we met last year, I found you to be a lovely person.

As for the Nazi stuff, sure both sides have done it. We don't try to dress ours up as "mainstream." And our elected Dems are generally smart enough not to make speeches in front of signs that say, "Public Healthcare Dachau, Germany."

By the way. Saw your comments about Turkey. You described them as radical Muslems and terrorists, etc. Why do you think we have and do train their Air Force and armed services? Do you think I voted for our President because I thought I could watch Congress on CSPAN? Well, surprise, Git. I was not a CSPAN voter.

Now that's the way to defend your lying POTUS Hack. Way to go. We know you were not a CSPAN voter. That is obvious. You are a die-hard Democrat voter. Obama's Transparency Lies were not designed to appeal to his 'lock-step voting base'. Those lies were designed to appeal to those in the middle and the many independents that DO watch C-SPAN and believed your boy to be what he portrayed himself to be..... One of them. (Another lie and whole other topic)

It would be real simple and beneficial for your defense of the lack of transparency taking place, regarding the takeover of our healthcare system, by narrowing this issue down to 'CSPAN'. This whole healthcare takeover has been schemed secretly behind closed doors in a way that makes our Fayette County Commissioners look like Puritans. Your Nancy Pelosi's own words yesterday reminded me of watching TV as a kid while hearing a USSR official deny an issue when the whole world knew they were full of crap. For fun let's review her words: "There has never been a more open process for any legislation." She said that with a straight face man. Eye-wink

I like the level of transparency I've seen so far.

Hmmmm..... Wow!...... Evocative of the phrase: "He may be a bad guy.... but he is MY bad guy". LOL! Whatever.....

We don't try to dress ours up as "mainstream."

Uh huh..... To quote the famous and quotable historical figure, Soupy Sales... "Yeah... Riiiiiiiiiiight". Or to quote the famous philosopher and noted Fayette Countian famously known as 'Muddle': "Whatever".

And our elected Dems are generally smart enough not to make speeches in front of signs that say, "Public Healthcare Dachau, Germany."

Of course they wouldn't. That would not benefit THIS Democrat cause. They will save those photo ops in front of a similar sign for a speech protesting a different cause being proposed by the right side of the aisle.

Regarding Turkey... Thank God we have what we have with them. Shaky an alliance as that may be. Regarding the nuance... this same government overlooks the persecution of the peaceful Christian populous that exists within its borders.

Git. Oh if this was a black and white world; for us or against us..... But it just isn't.

If only it were..... I agree. And within the last couple of years and with a bit more age and (yes) wisdom, I have come to realize that more and more while altering my world view of many issues.

I noticed you felt it necessary to ignore my point and just continued to brand the groups as semi-terrorist and nut cases.. OK..Just remember the next time you get stereotyped because of your lifestyle or life choice be they whatever they are.. Just remember live be the sword.. die by the sword.. It cuts both ways.

We know who we are.. no amount of trying to stereotype us bothers us. Neither you, the Huffy or the rest of you progressives can change that.. You will see the rest of us very soon..

Oh btw... Tell me who Van Jones is?

Hack looking for real Radicals.. Fact Check me on it…

I dare say the fact you have to ask and I would have to google it tells me Van Jones in no way defines the President of the U.S. or the democratic party's views. But see how much mileage you can get out of Van Jones. Hopefully more than birthers turned tea partiers got out of Orly Tates. Again, the "stereotyping" card you are pulling makes you sound like a... ummm.... liberal. But run with that pair of scissors as well.

Sitting on the sidelines? I walked neighborhood after neighborhood and volunteered time for a politician (other than my dad's mayoral election) for the first time in my life. My guy won. And now I get to enjoy what some call "a life" while others grit and gnash their teeth daily wondering where America has gone..... Hello! It's right here! Open your eyes. Get out and enjoy life. Promote your tea party and its ideas. And let's see where the chips fall.

Bottom line here: dick Cheney is a true "conservative." Sara Palin says she is a true conservative. I hope they run in 2012 so we can see where oh where our nation stands on the Glenn Beck Sarah Palin Dick Armey Dick Cheney "world view."

By the way, did you hear Ron Paul smack down Dick Cheney yesterday? I love that guy! A politician that has the stones to speak his mind!

It’s a legal term look it up..

It has convicted more than one person in this Country.

I noticed you completely overlooked my little challenge about the REAL Radicals in this ADMINISTRATION.. Go ahead FACT CHECK ME ON IT.. Heck even Jeff hasn’t touch that one.
This is what is called a Preponderance of the Evidence. Do you not think Obama approved these people in his circle.. or do you think he was just too stupid to notice.. Which is it?

If you like America losing it's triple A credit rating, Racking up more DEBT than any President combined, Taxes, Closed door backroom deals, bribes paid out like giving away candy, Real true Mao and Chavez sympathizers and avowed Communist in the inner circles and advising the President.

If you truly believe that all this is as you say "My guy won. And now I get to enjoy what some call "a life" while others grit and gnash their teeth daily wondering where America has gone....."
is right for America..

Then I will honestly say I have made a MISTAKE.. I misjudged you.

Until the tea party movement considers taking a substantive amount of tar, feathers, and 535 rails to Congress to rid ourselves of an elitist society, I'll watch. No doubt, a superb grouping of Americana, but by in large poorly led and thus unguided.

How have you been? Hopefully, you'll be in town awhile so we can perhaps grab a brew.

Mike in no way are we leaderless and unfocused.. You don't have 10k+
show up in DC on a 3 day notice to protest the Healthcare vote without being very well organized and focused.

9/12 Project on 3 day notice

Try getting a bunch of Moderate Republicans/Democrats to do that on just a call out.. Won't happen.

Republicans are no better then the Democrats.. When they want to re-discover their Conservative roots we will welcome them in.. Until then they can go the same way Dems are going...
