Paris Bennett heard the magic words tonight, “You do not have the lowest number of votes,” said Ryan Seacrest to a relieved Bennett.

Bennett performed “Midnight Train to Georgia” on the Tuesday night performance show of “American Idol.” The crowd showed a lot of love to the 17-year-old contestant from Fayetteville, Ga. and the judges agreed. “That was great,” summed up judge Simon Cowell of Bennett’s performance.

This week four contestants, two guys and two girls, were told that their experience on this year’s season of the hit reality show was over. Becky O’Donohue, the 25 year old twin from Dobbs Ferry, NY, was the first to receive the bad news. Bobby Bennett of Denver, Stevie Scott of Fair Oaks, CA and Patrick Hall of Gravette, AR were the three other contestants to follow O’Donohue out the door.

Each week the contestant or contestants with the lowest number of votes will be sent packing. Make sure to watch Paris Bennett on “American Idol” next Tuesday night at 8 p.m. The number to call, in the hours following the performance show next Tuesday, to vote for Bennett will be posted here on TheCitizen.com as well.
