A man of courage, I think. I think he has a speech impediment but he overrode it for this! 60-40 polarization!

The Wicker guy should have said: "Well, I am not a crook, I earned every penny I have!" Henry and I just got drunk praying at the fireplace upstairs and he said I was correct! (or something like that)

I miss you on here. Won't you share more with us?
Not me, I understand some of the goughes that I have made to prompt you, just US.

can idiocy be stacked? How tall are you, Bonkers?
From wiki:" Dionysus is the god of wine, the inspirer of ritual madness and ecstasy, and a major figure of Greek mythology, [snip] He was also known as Bacchus, the name adopted by the Romans."
Baucus and Bacchus are pronounced the same.

Thaks for the info.

As to idiocy, I have never seen the good of "mythology!"

At least the drunk ones wake up sober the next day and can stay that way for a while. Others start out stupid, stay stupid and wake up the next day just as stupid as they were the day before. See below for a prime example - Maxine Waters.

Think she may get dumped in 2010?

Submitted by Davids mom on Mon, 12/28/2009 - 11:29am.

Like Barbara Lee and Lynn Westmoreland, she represents her constituency. She won't be dumped.

. . and she has been politically correct in embracing the needs of the Latino population in her community - and is VERY CLOSE to the mayor, a Mexican American. If she decides to run - she will be re-elected. She delivers for her community - latino and black. (That's how all of our representatives are re-elected. They know who will go to the voting booth - and special interests back them with the election funds needed to get the word out.)

"If she decides to run - she will be re-elected. She delivers for her community - latino and black."

No time or effort expended for those pesky "white" constituents, huh? Well, they don't vote for her anyway is probably how she sees it.....

Submitted by Davids mom on Mon, 12/28/2009 - 7:01pm.

Cute. But it just shows that you are not at all familiar with the Los Angeles district that Maxine Waters represents. There are a number of 'whites' in the Los Angeles area that support her outspoken advocacy of some unions, etc. . . but they are not her 'constituents who go to the voting booth come election time. In my lifetime, I have not seen more integrated living areas than here in Georgia. I also have not seen the number of 'black' people who are residents of a state as in Georgia. Maxine Waters is not anti-white; she is pro-poor, underpaid, mistreated Americans. You may see that as a black-white issue - but there are whites that cheer her on because by getting fair treatment for the above mentioned, they benefit. There are 'whites' that fit that classification - poor, underpaid, mistreated. Her time and effort for those that she 'fights' for are rewarded by their vote and support. I don't think she sees anyone who needs her help as 'pesky'.

These were your words:

"She delivers for her community - latino and black."

You didn't say "She delivers for her community" period. You didn't say "She delivers for her community - latino, black and white. My point was simply that her role as a representative is to represent all people in her district, no matter their color. I was confused as to whether Maxine only represents and delivers for latinos and blacks in reality (as you stated) or if you only felt the need to point out the non-whites that she works for. For someone who is constantly preaching to us all that race should not identify or divide us, that seems to be exactly what you did.

Submitted by Davids mom on Mon, 12/28/2009 - 10:47pm.

. . but you need to 'talk' what you 'know'. Maxine Waters represents the 35th District, which is in South Central Los Angeles. For years, that has been considered a 'minority' community - solid black for many years - and now a majority of Latinos. There has not been a 'white' voting bloc in the Watts area for generations. The community of the 35th District in Los Angeles is 'inclusive' when described as Black and Latino. No exclusion intended - there just aren't 'whites' there to represent. You live in an area where blacks and whites live next door to one another or in close proximity. The 35th District has not been like that for years.

She is regularly at the very top of every list of corrupt congressmembers and is a disgrace to the office. The fact that her district supports her heavily is more indicative of the kind of people who live in her district more than any perceived competence on Waters' part. Her ties with OneUnited bank and her getting the bank 12million in bailout funds that she personally profited from is the exact kind of behavior that repulses the average citizen.

I don't call that "pro-poor" or fighting for justice; I call that cashing-in by using the power of your office to enrich yourself. Some crusader.

Submitted by Davids mom on Mon, 12/28/2009 - 10:20pm.

Nuk - your point is well taken. She learned how to play the 'corrupt' Congressperson game from the best. She and the others who received and misused 'bailout' funds are in the same 'basket'.

Joe:

Please, your comprehension skills are deplorable. White people have supported legislators who do not represent them for decades. Some are called lobbyists. They DO NOT live in the 'district' - but benefit from the 'power' of the legislator.

You ability to articulate is astounding. This morning I've been called a crack -smoking wh----in response to my contribution to this discussion. Certainly Joe and Mud can read and spell . . this is not in question. It's their ability to express their opinion without name-calling that is sadly lacking.

I would bet that she will continue to be re-elected until she dies, then as part of her 'birthright' a close relative will assume her seat.

Submitted by Davids mom on Mon, 12/28/2009 - 12:09pm.

Reading the history of Lincoln, one realizes that he was not always admired during or after his tenure as President of the United States. There were members of Congress who left the Union and there was a 'war'.
He negotiated, compromised, and fought for the union. . . and Obama will have to do the same. . .and Congressional 'heart attacks' did not solve the problem.

Your tunneled view of history does amaze me. Can you explain the lack of admiration within Congress for the 16th President after the War of Secession? Hopefully you are not comparing Mr Obama's Administration to that of Mr Johnson's during Reconstruction, are you? Or, is it that you don't comprehend my distain for out current Congress?

Submitted by Davids mom on Mon, 12/28/2009 - 12:38pm.

I understand your disdain. My vision of history is not tunneled. Some historians have completely denigrated the 'Congress' after the end of the Civil War. Andrew Johnson is not in this discussion since Obama is still president - and we are still a 'union'. . .with an ideology conflict.

I seem to remember in the days immediately following Hurricane Katrina - when relief efforts were still in their early, desperate stages - that Rep. Waters DEMANDED that the Governor of Louisiana provide Waters and her entourage with National Guard helicopters so she could personally view the rescue efforts of "her people" (her term, not mine).

She was outraged when the Governor told her the helicopters were being used for more important, life saving functions.

Why a U.S. Rep from California felt she needed to involve herself and demand the retasking of vital resources for her use is beyond logic.

The sense of privilege displayed by some of our "public servants" turns my stomach.

You all seem to think it is funny that Maxine Waters is a barely functional illeterate fool with a very clear hard left-wing agenda. Sure, her performance is funny and sad, but wake up people - she represents us (well not me, thank God, but others) and therefore she is one of our leaders and a policy-maker for the country. Is she one of the reasons we are in trouble?

She referred to the 1992 LA Riots as a Rebellion. According to her, riots sound like it was just a bunch of crazy people who went out and did bad things for no reason.

Tell that to the beaten truck driver Reginald Denny and the 53 families of the others that died. Not to mention the $1 billion damages; some of it in her district.

But hey, all that matters is that she improves the lot of her constitutes.
