System worked as it should have?

Joe Kawfi's picture

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says investigators did not have enough information to keep a terror suspect from boarding a flight bound for Detroit and that the system worked as it should have.

Other than the fact that the terrorist purchased a one-way ticket, with cash, and had no luggage.

Napolitano should be fired immediately.

The blame for this incident lies squarely at the feet of the Obama administration. We have a "president" that refuses to state that we are at war against terrorism. Rather than send this pond scum to Guantanamo for enhanced interrogation as an enemy combatant, Obama will treat it as a law enforcement problem.

The terrorists obviously see weakness in the current American "leadership" and they continue to exploit it. Obama does not care about our safety, he only cares about how this will make him look.

should be fired.

As reported by CNN, Napolitano was quoted as saying:

And yes, when we find illegal workers, yes, appropriate action, some of which is criminal, most of that is civil, because crossing the border is not a crime per se. It is civil. But anyway, going after those as well.

But guess what, ENTRY WITHOUT INSPECTION IS A CRIME: In fact, pursuant to 8 U.S.C. 1325, crossing the border illegally is a crime–a misdemeanor for the first offense and a felony for the second and subsequent offenses. But of course, ignoring or mischaracterizing the law is a very convenient way for those in power to avoid the laws they find most inconvenient. Sadly, statements such as these are also a signal that Americans will have to wait a long time before their government articulates any credible immigration enforcement policy.

Fire her and fast.

The libs have supporters like everyone else and they tend to reward those supporters with lucrative jobs after they get elected - like everyone else.

Problem with the lib supporters is that they have no brains, no real job in their background and of course, no brains - just mindless marching to the goose step of the Socialist Democrat Party.

So, as a result when someone is supposed to have their eye on the ball, the liberal and useless appointees respond as the Janet person has done. What worthless people Prezbo has around him.

The person of the week (if they still do that on ABC) needs to underwear boy - not for his flame out, but rather for his confirmation that he was encouraged and funded by Al-Quida (although Prezbo called him a rogue terrorist) and most importantly because he said a major attack is coming.

I hope I'm wrong, but it may take a major attack on the US to wake up the citizens and eventually the President. George Bush was a great President for his reaction to 9-11. Obama is being tested or probed on a low level right now. What's next? Another coordinated airplane attack? Will he finally understand it? And then do something about it?

As long as we have a 'president' that refuses to refer to radical Islam as the enemy in some lame attempt to make peace with our enemies, our great country will not be safe.

Now it has been well established that Obama wishes to treat the 3 terrorist attacks during his administration as a law enforcement problem instead of a war. Face it, he as a pre-9/11 mentality and has no intention of doing what is necessary to protect America or its citizens. His golf game in Hawaii cannot be interrupted for such trivial matters.

He would rather perpetuate partisan blather with his meaningless speaches read off of the teleprompter while dismantling the greatest health care system in the world so that he and his cronies can have more power over Americans.

As long as we have a 'president' that refuses to refer to radical Islam as the enemy

This president and past-presidents have referred to ALL radicals (Islamic and Christian) as the enemy. Extremism - from any ideology - is dangerous and destructive.

"If Obama fails America Fails" Well, duhuh!?!

Correct- if Obama fails to acknowledge that we are at war and does not take that proper measures to defend our country and we are attacked yet again, then America fails. This means that Presbo will have to do more than just keep the incontinent from going to the bathroom an hour before landing and turn the security checkpoints into a peep-show.

Our enemies see weakness and inexperience in Obama, and they will continue to take full advantage of it until he decides to grow a pair, stop listening to the anti-war crowd and stop these maniacs hell bent on destroying our country.

The conservatives will do what they have always done, ignore Bush’s massive failure which led to the 9/11 attack while praising empty words. How anyone can think that saying “war on terror” has any effect one way or the other is beyond me. The conservatives will clamor to give up any right in their quest for security. Search our houses, tap our phones, read our mail, detain us without charges, deny us lawyers. Please ignore any provision of the Constitution as long as it might make us a little safer from some terrorist somewhere sometime. No freedom is too great to sacrifice. Then give up on the institutions that make America great. We can’t trust the courts so don’t allow any trials. Lock them up forever and torture them while we applaud. That’s what has made America great, right?

Don’t worry about Obama. He’s doing good and getting better. We beat them last time and we’ll do it again.

When Obama fails, Obama fails and he should be replaced - either early with impeachment - which gives us a semi-experienced Biden or normally in 2012 which gives us either Hillary for the Democrats or some buttoned-up former white governor - they are all interchangable in my mind.

Obama's failure is happening now before our eyes. He is obsessed with politics and political correctness and thinks he is above the advice of the generals fighting the war. Heck, he even refuses to call it a war. He's going to get more people killed (Bush did not, by the way) and then maybe Obama's inexperience and lack of commitment to his sworn duties will become an issue for the majority in the House and Senate - just as they are obvious to the majority of Americans. Yes DM, the majority of Americans - look at his job performance poll. Then imagine what it will be after some goon he released from Guantanamo kills several hundred Americans.

This President is dangerous to the country and his rock star persona will not overcome his obvious leadership deficiencies.

Extremism does kill - except in Israel where they segregate and interrogate all Muslims before they get on the plane. Profiling? Yes. Sensible? Yes.

(Bush did not, by the way)

Please explain that to the thousands of parents who held memorial services for their sons and daughters who returned from the 'war' in a flag draped coffin.

As I asked Mr. Morgan - do Americans have the 'will' to give up privileges and rights to return to segregation/racial profiling? Will that strengthen the so-called 'unity' of the United States?

His job performance is under scrutiny - especially by those who voted for him, because they voted against the practices of the former administration (Check Bush's numbers while he was in office) - and Obama hasn't moved beyond their divisive operations. . .Democrat and Republican. He tried for bi-partisanship - and it's just not going to happen. We are not blind. The REPUBLICAN bankers are walking lock step to refuse to give the much-needed loans to small businesses so that we can get America working again. . .as their CEO's 'earn' bigger bonuses.

Obama's leadership is being tested to the core. . .as is the leadership/representatives in Congress. Our intelligence systems are sorely lacking - and that is also becoming more obvious to the public. Maybe Mr. Mud needs to remove some of the mud from his eye.

I've never been mistaken for a Mr. in real life - let's not start here.

I was reminded of David's Mom last night watching Alan Colmes on Fox News. He made some of the same points using the same arguments and I actually think he was serious.

Suggest that you and Mr. Colmes drop the word "bi-partisan" when discussing our current President. He is very much a partisan and he cares a lot more about that than he does our country. The "my way or the highway" approach is his attempt to imitate George Bush's "You are either with us or against us" but it is not working because he is so arrogant.

And once again, Obama's failure is not America's failure. We will survive this President the same way as we have survived others who simply did not get it. Sadly, some of us will be killed in the next attack, but that's probably what it will take to wake everybody up - including the President and his clueless group of political hacks who are actually running the country.

Oh Mudcat – You really got her worked up now! Did you have to use the word “segregate”? Now DM is having flashbacks to the 50’s and accusing you of promoting segregation, even though intelligent people understand that you meant it in the context of singling out potential terrorists based on their background and ideology.

And remember, whenever Obama starts screwing things up, the pathetic liberals always drag out Bush as their whipping boy.

Obama never had any intention of working in a bipartisan manner. During his first few days in office, he drew a line by stating to them “I Won”. This meant “you lost, and therefore I am under no obligation to listen to you or work with you”.

You are correct Mud - Obama is dangerous for our country. He can’t bring himself to say “Islamic Extremism” or refer to the battle against Islamic extremism as the “War on Terror”.

What systems are in place that can determine one's background and ideology before they board a plane? The ones used at present haven't worked. Mr. Mud pointed out the practice

except in Israel where they segregate and interrogate all Muslims before they get on the plane. Profiling? Yes. Sensible? Yes.

"Most people shed their flighty liberal ideas in their early 30's."

Wrong, mudkitty

"All the evidence we have found refutes the idea that as people age their attitudes become more conservative or more rigid," said Nicholas Danigelis, a sociologist at the University of Vermont. "It's just not true. More people are changing in a liberal direction than in a conservative direction."

Except for Fayette County, of course, where it would seem that most folks continue down their conservative path of idiocy, intolerance, and racism.

Liberal Seniors

"...contrary to generally held beliefs, the changes are towards more tolerance rather than more conservatism. So it may seem that as we age we become more liberal instead of more conservative."

Conservative Myth

Their study was submitted to the American Sociological Review:

Abstract:

Prevailing stereotypes of older people hold that their attitudes are inflexible or that aging tends to promote increasing conservatism in sociopolitical outlook. In spite of mounting scientific evidence demonstrating that learning, adaptation, and reassessment are behaviors in which older people can and do engage, the stereotype persists. We use U.S. General Social Survey data from 25 surveys between 1972 and 2004 to formally assess the magnitude and direction of changes in attitudes that occur within cohorts at different stages of the life course. We decompose changes in sociopolitical attitudes into the proportions attributable to cohort succession and intracohort aging for three categories of items: attitudes toward historically subordinate groups, civil liberties, and privacy. We find that significant intracohort change in attitudes occurs in cohorts-inlater-stages (age 60 and older) as well as cohorts-in-earlier-stages (ages 18 to 39), that the change for cohorts-in-later-stages is frequently greater than that for cohorts-in-earlier-stages, and that the direction of change is most often toward increased tolerance rather than increased conservatism. These findings are discussed within the context of population aging and development.

This so-called study used a very limited base clearly designed to create the desired results.

AGW studies follow the same example.

Mike King's picture
Submitted by Mike King on Wed, 12/30/2009 - 3:20pm.

Speaking only for myself, I would ask that you concentrate really hard and compare the two terms of 'evidence' and 'opinion'. You will find that the two are quite dissimilar. Evidence is something you can hang your hat upon, factual in other words. Whereas an opinion is a conclusion that one or more have reached after some effort including study, but is by no means yet undisputed.

Now before you get your pants in a wad, I will admit that evidence is sometimes contaminated and no longer factual. Herein lies the rub, it's now a fabrication something akin to global warming that Al Gore ignored for eight years as Vice President.

Submitted by Davids mom on Wed, 12/30/2009 - 3:30pm.

The articles that Main Stream shared with us are based on research by persons who have some knowledge of analyzing evidence. They base their 'opinions' on their research. What is being asked of you - and would be appreciated, is to share the 'research' that your opinion is based upon. It is obvious that there are those who have different opinions regarding this subject. Your respectful response is anticipated. Happy New Year!

By the way, I acknowledge that 'facts' are disputed. That's how we grow and expand our knowledge.

Mike King's picture
Submitted by Mike King on Wed, 12/30/2009 - 3:41pm.

The quandry you have is that what was originally asked was "evidence." What has been provided thus far by the two students and the good Dr of Cereal Science from North Dakota State, I believe, is their opinions which is not evidence. Too many today take the written word or the words spoken from a teleprompter by a 'talking head' as Gospel.

I would have thought the lessons of Jonestown remedied that lemming philosophy.

Submitted by Davids mom on Wed, 12/30/2009 - 4:11pm.

The only quandary that I have is why you can't participate in a discussion without denigrating the work of others with whom you disagree. You've offered nothing to support your disagreement - except your ‘retorts’. . and that's fine. (Except it doesn't add anything to the discussion.) It was alluded to that you have served your country with honor - in the Marines. I've had the privilege of having service personnel in my classes - and they are articulate, inquisitive, and respectful. They also know how to challenge an idea that they question or disagree with, and that always stimulated interesting discussion. You sir, have utilized overused 'talking points'. Thank you.

The security in the airport in Israel was really frightening - and the young men and women carrying the guns left no doubt that they would use those weapons - probably with great accuracy. It wasn't too different in Paris, Zimbabwe, or other places. I'm told that Mexico has eased up a bit around tourist areas (not the young men in fatigues with rifles everywhere one looks). Some say - What is our world coming to? It's there - full of fear and mistrust. . .sad. The terrorists can strike anytime, anywhere. This is not the type of 'war' that we have been involved in in the past.

I guess they can't sew their insignia's on their uniforms. The important thing to remember about Mexico City is don't travel alone at night and take one of those green and white VW taxi cabs. In Tel Aviv should they schedule around morning and evening 'prayers' checking the direction faced by those with their butts in the air. The religion part kind of takes care of itself since all Muslim terrorists are fanactically religious, right? Now would you consider this a form of 'profiling'?

Oh DM, You really need to relax. Someone your age shouldn't get yourself all worked up like this.

You are so pathetic though - You can't speak intelligently to the issue so you just attack the messenger. Typical Lib.

George Bush was a great President for his reaction to 9-11

9-11 never should have happened!! What about the 'conservatives' that surrounded President Bush who ignored the report that several Saudi citizens were taking flying lessons - without learning how to land?? What about our 'war' strategy that cost 7000 American lives in Iraq - when the enemy that killed 3000 on American soil were NOT FROM IRAQ - and WMD were never found??? Labels not withstanding, we need better intelligence - persons who know the enemy and their language/culture. We relied on this friend of Bush and Cheney (the guy from Iraq) who fed our intelligence a lot of garbage.. .and then wanted their support for him to 'lead' the new Iraqi government. The enemy wins as long as we, as Americans are divided between 'liberal'/'conservative'. . . Black/white. . .Republican/Democrat. The sickness caused by fear and mistrust is killing us from within. But we love to call each other names, denigrate our leaders, and feel superior to someone/anyone.

I hope I'm wrong, but it may take a major attack on the US to wake up the citizens and eventually the President.

I hope you're wrong also. There are those who are considered 'experts' who have knowledge and should be listened to. My prayer is that our leaders, regardless of ideology, will listen and act. The problem may be that the American people may not have the 'will' to sacrifice certain 'rights' and 'privileges' in order to remain 'safe'. What do you think?

Before we 'fire' her - can we do something about those 'good' American business people who keep hiring illegals? There are Americans who are out of work, need food and clothes for their families - but these good American businesspersons don't want to pay the legal wage. There are Americans who would put roofs on houses, cut the lawn, trim trees, etc.

I would not only fire her but Congressman Jack Kingston (R) as well as he and Newt G. and the late Senator Paul Coverdell use that their political muscle to stop an INS action called Southern Denial in '98. Growers in South Georgia complained to them that the INS was scarring off all the help.

Just like Barack said before, acting stupidly. Our famous leaders are causing all this crap. I really wish it was better but they are so damn dumb. When the nigerian banker tells the US embassy not to let his kid fly here because he is a threat and they ignore him. Enough said I guess you all get my point. We will all suffer because of the idiots running the show. Happy New year

I do think this fellow boarded in a foreign country to come here!

However, the thousands of "marshalls" we are supposed to have on board must not have taken that flight, and didn't the foreigners have everyone remove their shoes?

As to who gets fired about all this, let us just go to the top and fire the President! We also need to invade another country or two (where he came from and where he boarded) and let them know we still will blow them up for ten years just as we have in Afghanistan!

I however don't think these nutty dudes care what we do! Would you if you went straight to heaven and eleventy-eleven beautiful clean women? And your family paid for life!

The mope had applied for re-entry to the UK and they denied him a visa---HELLO OUT THERE! ALERT! Anyone awake in the State Dept? And today, we see that another Nigerian from the same flight was arrested ffor locking himself in the toilet and being disruptive. So what was the purpose of his visit? Valid visa? And no, Bonko, removing shoes wouldn't have helped-the explosives weren't in the original mope's shoes.
