Peachtree City police have charged an Atlanta man for the sawed-off shotgun robbery of Creekside Chevron on Ga. Highway 54 West in the early morning of Dec. 19.

Orlando Marquez Peavy, 21, is being held in the Coweta County jail on other charges, police said.

“This arrest is based on a coordinated effort between Peachtree City Police Department and the Newnan Police Department,” according to Chief H. C. “Skip” Clark, II.

Newnan contacted Peachtree City police after investigating a kidnapping and armed car-jacking incident over the weekend in the city of Newnan, Clark said in a Christmas Eve news release.

“Information obtained in the Newnan investigation identified a suspect who matched the description of the suspect in the armed robbery at the Creekside Chevron,” Clark said.

“Peavy is currently being held at the Coweta County Jail under the charges from the Newnan Police Department. Peachtree City Police have warrants on Marquez Orlando Peavy for armed robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a firearm, use of a sawed-off shotgun during the commission of a crime, and carrying a concealed weapon,” the chief said.

It's no perception problem....it's a serious issue. In the last year or so, a Kroger employee at the Banks' Kroger gets hit over the head with a rock in a parking lot robbery, 2 people are robbed in separate incidents at the Bank of America ATM, BOA itself gets stuck-up, Food Depot, Regions Bank stuck up, now WalGreens....I'm sure I'm missing a few more too. Riverdale South has pretty much taken that area over.

This is just another prime example of why it would be a good idea if more citizens carried concealed weapons. As more and more of these worthless thugs are put out of our misery, the faster the crime will move back to Riverdale where it belongs.

Steele never met a commercial development he couldn't approve. That part of Fayetteville is terrible. Stopped going that way several years ago.

Craziness!! I was there right before this happened. I checked my receipt and the time says 7:34. When I was walking out the door I saw a car pull up slowly with two young males in it. For some reason, it just didn't look right to me. The weird thing is I thought to myself as I backed away, "I'm glad I'm outta there". I never thought about it again until I saw the 10:00 news lead. May not have been the guy who did it, but as always I was very aware of my surroundings.

That is the best "aware of my surroundings" talk I ever heard!
"It didn't look "right," "I thought to myself," "as I backed away," and you were glad you were "outta there."
You saved your own life!

"That is the best "aware of my surroundings" talk I ever heard!"

No, that was not talk. That was the thought processes of a somewhat intelligent individual who knows what is happening in his neighborhood. Unfortunately for you, those brain synapses don't fire in the same way so you can't understand it. Shopping at Walgreens is fun for you!!

"You saved your own life!"

Hardly, it was lucky timing for me. You would have loitered around the Depends display so long, you would have been right in the middle of it.
