Real American, right here. Cyclist asked. Here it is

Robert W. Morgan's picture

This is a response to David's Mom when she questioned my definition of Real Americans.

The fact that I have to actually explain the definition of Real Americans is in itself a statement on how far we have declined as a country.

Well, David's Mom, since you asked, here is my definition of Real Americans:

Real Americans are first and foremost patriots who understand the sacrifices our forefathers made to establish our government and the quality of life we all enjoy - or would if you stupid liberals could stop asking for more handouts to the "less fotunate" (yes, I know that is a Neal Boortz term and I have credited it to him).

Real Americans in the spirit of their forefathers volunteer for the military and serve their country through good and bad times and through good and bad Commanders-in-chief. The abhor stupid liberal political policies such as "Don't ask, don't tell" and they dislike wars being fought with deadlines for surrender.

Real Americans work because they understand they should do their fair share to help themselves and contribute to the economy.

Real Americans support their families because it is the right thing to do. They don't run up big bills on their credit cards and skip out. They don't cheat on their spouse. They don't beat their spouse or kids. As a result, they don't go to jail.

Real Americans pay their taxes because they understand that the taxes they pay will be used for the essential services of government as outlined in the Constitution. Thus far, no Amendments to the Constitution about wealth redistribution, free abortions, health care defined as a right, welfare queens given $3,000 per month plus food stamps only because she has birthed 3 kids. But they pay their taxes anyway.

Real Americans get married and have an average of 2.3 children and pay for their support, educate them and remain in their lives - both the father and the mother. No mention of gay marriage or same sex marraige of life partners or any of that deviant behavior in the Constitution.

Real Americans vote and express their opinions freely whenever they can. Some protest government policies that they feel are wrong.

Real Americans do not attack and demonize other Americans who disagree with them.

Hope that answers your question, DM

The Native Americans to which you refered - some are Real Americans by my definition, some are not, most are dead.

Don't forget those whose ancestors were 'brought' here for labor against their wishes and have made America their home by hard labor, defending it since the Revolutionary War, and all of the subsequent wars, and today are contributing in all areas of American life. I agree with you - you just forgot a few folk.

Really real Americans don't jump up on their soapbox and try to define other Americans out. They aren't small minded bigots who cannot tolerate other Americans who are different from them. Really real Americans thank the Good Lord every day that they have the Constitution to protect them from people like Robert Morgan imposing his litmus test on us. Really real Americans are grateful that the Founding Fathers gave us a country where Robert can make up his own definitions and they rest of us can assess it for what it is and ignore it.

Too bad for Robert; living in a country where his real Americans can't control what really real Americans think and do. That must be terribly frustrating for him but for the really real Americans, it's part of what makes this country so great.

Your comment about ‘liberals’ disqualifies you for American citizenship - by your own definition.. so what are you? And most Native Americans are dead? I'm sure some members of the Indian nations will be surprised to hear that. A number of Native Americans reside right here in Georgia - Fayette County. You are classic sir.

Welfare queens, tax cheats, child molesters, criminals, sodomizers and America-hating Marxists are not Americans in my book. I guess we do have to give a pass to those types who serve in the Obama administration or it would mean we really don't have any leadership in the country.

And DM, any native Americans who are still alive would be really, really old. Their decendents are here and that's fine. In my book there are no hyphenated Americans- native, african, irish, italian, etc. even though they all have different and interesting and sometimes painful histories (or their forebearers did) they should all be considered Americans and they
(hang on tight DM, you are not going to like this)

THEY SHOULD BE JUDGED ON THE CONTENT OF THEIR CHARACTER AND THE ACTIONS AND DECISIONS THEY MAKE TODAY! WHAT THEIR GREAT GRANDFATHER DID, WHETHER HE WAS A SLAVE, SLAVE-OWNER, FAILED POLITICIAN OR PRESIDENT OF THE US HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW PEOPLE SHOULD ACT IN 2009.

. . and Mudcat, you are one of those people who judge all Americans on the content on their character? Wonderful. According to the birth certificates in this country - Americans are identified by their 'race' not their nationality - right? Why? If you believe that we should no longer have hyphenated Americans - why don't you write your Congressperson regarding CHANGING the policy of identifying Americans at birth by their race? Oh, oh - we aren't quite ready to do that yet - because some Americans identify 'blacks' along with 'handicapped persons'. . . even though the President of the United States is 'African American'. I know, I know - his mother was 'white'. . .so many are trying to say he isn't American - to justify their 'not so hidden' fear of his being 'black'. The sad thing is that you don't even realize your 'racism'. I know I still have racist tendencies - and reading some of the stuff expressed here isn't helping me to 'heal'. However - most people really have good hearts - and want to and DO treat their neighbor as they would want to be treated. It's when we get to discuss the different 'groups' - and who is or is not a real American that we all get into trouble. People are proud of their heritage - and America is made up of every 'race' and 'nationality' in the world as part of its heritage. The Irish shouldn't have to forget their forefathers, nor the Italians, nor those from the Nordic countries . . .nor those whose forefathers came from Africa. If you're not sure where your forefathers originated - take a DNA test. I don't know what they teach in the schools in Georgia - but many Native Americans are very proud of their forefathers, their heritage, and their culture. THEY are not DEAD.

I did not think we were going to go down this road, but why should I be surprised at anything anymore.

I do like the "Content of their character" Somehow that resonates with me.
