Jesus not invited to the Whitehouse

S. Lindsey's picture

Well it's that time of year where we get together and hopefully reflect on what we have done and how better we can be.

Rather you are a Christian or not is irrealavant. The ideas put forth are good rather you believe or not.

However Christmas is about The Birth of Christ.. The phase "Reason for the Season" is correct.

Apparently the White house feels differently. They entertained the idea of a "Non-Religous" Holiday at the Peoples place. We would not want to offend anyone would we?

"If President Obama wanted to fuel the fears of every serious Christian in America and actually prove that he is every bad thing they've ever heard about him on every crazy Web site, the idea of symbolically taking Jesus out of the White House at Christmas would be just the ticket!"

. .for making a tempest in a teapot. Fox News, IMO, is following the Alinsky strategy to a tee. Destroy the image of the enemy through innuendos, rumors, etc. The spirit of the Christ will be in the White House - as always.

RE: Gala Christmas Party
I'm happy to inform you that the company Christmas Party will take place on December 23rd, starting at noon in the private function room at the Grill House. There will be a cash bar and plenty of drinks! We'll have a small band playing traditional carols... feel free to sing along. And don't be surprised if our CEO shows up dressed as Santa Claus! A Christmas tree will be lit at 1:00 PM. Exchanges of gifts among employees can be done at that time; however, no gift should be over $10.00 to make the giving of gifts easy for everyone's pockets. This gathering is only for employees!
Our CEO will make a special announcement at that time!
Merry Christmas to you and your family,
Patty

RE: Gala Holiday Party
In no way was yesterday's memo intended to exclude our Jewish employees. We recognize that Hanukkah is an important holiday, which often coincides with Christmas, though unfortunately not this year. However, from now on, we're calling it our "Holiday Party." The same policy applies to any other employees who are not Christians and to those still celebrating Reconciliation Day. There will be no Christmas tree and no Christmas carols will be sung. We will have other types of music for your enjoyment.
Happy now?
Happy Holidays to you and your family,
Patty

Regarding the note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous requesting a non-drinking table, you didn't sign your name. I'm happy to accommodate this request, but if I put a sign on a table that reads, "AA Only", you wouldn't be anonymous anymore. How am I supposed to handle this?
Somebody?
And sorry, but forget about the gift exchange, no gifts are allowed since the union members feel that $10.00 is too much money and the executives believe $10.00 is a little chintzy.
REMEMBER: NO GIFTS EXCHANGE WILL BE ALLOWED.

RE: Generic Holiday Party
What a diverse group we are! I had no idea that December 20th begins the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which forbids eating and drinking during daylight hours. There goes the party! Seriously, we can appreciate how a luncheon at this time of year does not accommodate our Muslim employees' beliefs. Perhaps the Grill House can hold off on serving your meal until the end of the party or else package everything for you to take it home in little foil doggy baggy. Will that work?
Meanwhile, I've arranged for members of Weight Watchers to sit farthest from the dessert buffet, and pregnant women will get the table closest to the restrooms.
Gays are allowed to sit with each other. Lesbians do not have to sit with Gay men, each group will have their own table.
Yes, there will be flower arrangement for the Gay men's table.
To the person asking permission to cross dress, the Grill House asks that no cross-dressing be allowed, apparently because of concerns about confusion in the restrooms. Sorry.
We will have booster seats for short people.
Low-fat food will be available for those on a diet.
I am sorry to report that we cannot control the amount of salt used in the food . The Grill House suggests that people with high blood pressure taste a bite first.
There will be fresh "low sugar" fruits as dessert for diabetics, but the restaurant cannot supply "no sugar" desserts. Sorry!

Did I miss anything?!?!?

I have laughed about this off and on all day! In my job I have to arrange luncheons and meetings for a very very diverse population . . .and I have had to deal with many of the things ole Patty mentions . . .One of my biggest challenges is the dietary requirements of so many nationalities. I don't mean to be rude, but if I were invited to a FREE lunch, if the food there did not appeal to me I would work around it; but not my guests, they want their special diet no matter what. One of my more memorable complaints was the fellow who wanted a vegetarian salad, so I ordered no meat, vegetarian salad, the salad had eggs on it, the fellow had a fit and went hungry I guess . . .too much effort to take the eggs off I guess. At any rate, I did love this trail of emails!!!

Obama and family have private quarters at the White House. There they may do whatever for Christmas or non-Christmas. The rest of the White House belongs to us. Many of us appreciate the traditions, like the Nativity, done in the White House at Christmas. It is not up to Obama to change the traditions done in the part of the White House that is open to the public.
Several months ago a reporter asked Obama what type of movies he liked to view in the WH. He replied, " In MY house, meaning the White House,etc.etc. No,it is not your house:you are just a renter.

Submitted by Davids mom on Thu, 12/10/2009 - 1:44pm.

Much ado about nothing. Every public room in the White House has been decorated using historic ornaments, etc. from past administrations. This house does belong to us - Americans - and visitors, public school tours, etc. will enjoy the beauty of the White House this year as in all past years. Now if you think that the Obama's will not have 'Christmas' in their private quarters, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you. And justwondering, he is living in the White House now as part of his duty as President of the United States. . .just like the Americans who held the office before him after the White House was built. Many are proud that he currently resides there ..and considers part of the house 'his'. I know most of you will choose not to watch, but the public will be invited to see the White House decorations during a TV program. . .and yes, the family sent out 'Christmas' cards. Obama and his family are Christians who try to follow the dictates of the New Testament. Those of you who profess Christianity – check out the writings of St. Paul. . . since some seem to have difficulty with the words of Jesus.

Axial Tilt is the reason for the season.

Submitted by Bonkers on Thu, 12/10/2009 - 7:28am.

I went through "phases" but never "Reason For The Season!" Is it a season rather than a day? Aren't seasons about three months each---even though we are lucky to get two of them in Georgia.

Axial Tilt instead of Christmas IS the phase: reason for the season, I agree (what is it)? Do the moon have anything to do with it? Mars?

December would have been OK in Jerusalem---what with warm hay, swaddling clothes and a donkey to sleep with. May have been a
Three Dog Night?" No, that was Three Kings, was it not? They had franky, murr and copper, I think? Joe was glad to git it.

You might be right about born in the springtime. Beautiful place right there in Palestine in springtime. (wait did I say Palestine? Were the Palestinians there then? They don't much like Jews, do they? Or did they then?

I think it was a "tax thing," the reason for the phase. We just do it electronically now, or the boss takes it every payday.
I wonder if the King took the same percentage of earning from those like carpenters wages as he did from those who owned a bunch of slaves? Was there am asset tax on the Jewish slaves?

How did they know how much one made in wages? I;ll bet they just took so many shekels from everybody regardless of how much they made!
Shekels and cubits always did confuse me.

I hadn't read the NYT article until now.

The White House should celebrate Christmas there as a traditional recognition of Christianity. Also, a celebration maybe at other times of other religions should be in order. I have noticed though that it is not.
Instead we are a "Christian nation."

In all likelihood we will stay a Christian Nation (laws resembling Christianity) until a majority of the voters says otherwise.

I also agree with some that persnickety and overbearing actions by a Social Secretary will only deter the progress that her race is making.
I understand the thinking of some of the new administration that they have been set aside all they intend to be and will simply overdo if necessary. That is a mistake and Obama needs to stop it.

As to the Secret Service allowing someone in to the function who was not on the list of approved personnel, whether or not someone from the social office was there is a mistake without a reasonable excuse.
The SS might as well not be there if they are going to make judgments which are not necessary. The Defense department lady who was trying to get these people in should also be counseled at least.

First thing you know we will be letting in Jews, Black people, Italians, Hungarians, Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, and even Terrorists!

Why we might even have school kids trying to get properly educated from other counties coming to Fayette schools! Or even into Wisconsin or Arkansas Universities.

Some here may not get your sarcasm. I feel this is the 'prime' reason for the controversy:

This is the tale of a woman who, like Icarus, flew too close to the sun. The public conversation quickly turned to Ms. Rogers herself and whether she broke some unwritten code of social secretary dos and don’ts. She shouldn’t have attended the dinner as an invited guest. (Social secretaries rarely do.) She shouldn’t have paraded in front of photographers in an avant-garde Comme des Garçons gown. She should have been something Desirée Rogers is utterly unaccustomed to being: invisible.

This social secretary has, however followed the tradition of former social secretaries in bringing culture to the White House. In my lifetime, the social secretary of the Kennedy's was a hard act to follow. It's just a little difficult for some to see an accomplished Harvard graduate, former CEO, attractive BLACK woman - who is actually a friend and social/educational equal of the president 'step out of her place'. Oh well - deal with it.

She has a primary job----seeing that the SS is furnished an accurate guest list. Even if she has forty degrees!
The SS will take the fall but this lady will never be Secretary of defense.
My only point was just that.

Submitted by Davids mom on Thu, 12/10/2009 - 5:53pm.

She gave them an accurate list. The 'crashers' were not on it. The email from the ‘friend’ in the Pentagon makes that pretty clear. By the crashers own words, they went 'just in case' their names had made it to the list. An email never came saying their names were on the list. Because the 'crashers' were 'cute', they should have been admitted? I think not. Now where is this the Social Secretary's fault? As has been pointed out, in today’s techy world, they could have reached her or her team and verified the names. NO CALL/MESSAGE WAS EVER MADE/SENT!!
There are reporters and staff - purple, green, plaid, who have been put off by Desiree Rogers - and there are those who are NOT COLOR BLIND. Pretending that race has nothing to do with some of these issues is just not realistic.

Submitted by MYTMITE on Thu, 12/10/2009 - 4:59pm.

blog that does not have a BLACK issue in it (The caps are yours). I know you were replying to Bonkers and saying you got his sarcasm and yet you still had to make it a BLACK issue. It is commendable that Ms. Rogers has brought culture to the White House. If she were purple, green or orange she still should have been doing her job which was the reason she was at the function. I think it is hard for you to ever admit that there is a legitimate reason to comment on something a black person does regardless if they are right or wrong. This very educated, accomplished, and attractive lady may be a social/educational equal of the president but she is still an employee with a job to do. If they had wanted her there as their social equal I imagine she would have received the invitation that all other invitees received and attended as such instead of the employee she is. You, my dear lady seem to be so mired in the BLACK (or at least presumed by you) issue that you can't see anything else.
This really seems to be a problem for you and maybe you should consider dealing with it.

You got that right!

The only possible harm that can be done on top of those WV & KY mountains is to foul the streams below.
In fact when they get through and spread out the dirt and rocks and sew grass and plant shrubs it is much better than before (I will say they didn't do any of that unntil they were made to do it).

However the streams run black while they mine it. The stench of sulphur is considered a food condiment in WV & KY.

One can even grow corn (no, just corn--not corn liquor) in those reseeded fields at 3000 feet once the mining is complete.
It is also harder to fall over the side of the mountain from the top but be careful down the mountain where it is steeper than ever.
Now another cash crop can be grown there on the side of these slooshes
and it has jungle overhead cover from the helicopters!
What timber is on top can't be logged out anyway---too steep and high.
They can roll the coal out, or belt it out, or sloosh it out.

I ain't agin it if dun keerect!

The good news about all this is that Prezbo and his handlers are completely tone deaf about the attitude of real Americans and they will continue with their childish, liberal, show biz behavior and further highlight the mistake that the mindless first-time voters made last November. The fact that I have to actually explain the definition of Real Americans is in itself a statement on how far we have declined as a country.

Well, David's Mom, since you asked, here is my definition of Real Americans:

Real Americans are first and foremost patriots who understand the sacrifices our forefathers made to establish our government and the quality of life we all enjoy - or would if you stupid liberals could stop asking for more handouts to the "less fotunate" (yes, I know that is a Neal Boortz term and I have credited it to him).

Real Americans in the spirit of their forefathers volunteer for the military and serve their country through good and bad times and through good and bad Commanders-in-chief. The abhor stupid liberal political policies such as "Don't ask, don't tell" and they dislike wars being fought with deadlines for surrender.

Real Americans work because they understand they should do their fair share to help themselves and contribute to the economy.

Real Americans support their families because it is the right thing to do. They don't run up big bills on their credit cards and skip out. They don't cheat on their spouse. They don't beat their spouse or kids. As a result, they don't go to jail.

Real Americans pay their taxes because they understand that the taxes they pay will be used for the essential services of government as outlined in the Constitution. Thus far, no Amendments to the Constitution about wealth redistribution, free abortions, health care defined as a right, welfare queens given $3,000 per month plus food stamps only because she has birthed 3 kids. But they pay their taxes anyway.

Real Americans get married and have an average of 2.3 children and pay for their support, educate them and remain in their lives - both the father and the mother. No mention of gay marriage or same sex marraige of life partners or any of that deviant behavior in the Constitution.

Real Americans vote and express their opinions freely whenever they can. Some protest government policies that they feel are wrong.

Real Americans do not attack and demonize other Americans who disagree with them.

Hope that answers your question, DM

The Native Americans to which you refered - some are Real Americans by my definition, some are not, most are dead.

Submitted by Davids mom on Thu, 12/10/2009 - 11:05pm.

Real Americans do not attack and demonize other Americans who disagree with them.

Your comment about ‘liberals’ disqualifies you for American citizenship - by your own definition.. so what are you? And most Native Americans are dead? I'm sure some members of the Indian nations will be surprised to hear that. A number of Native Americans reside right here in Georgia - Fayette County. You are classic sir.
