Mayor-elect Haddix: ‘Ready to get job done’

By: Letters to the ...

I would like to thank the voters of Peachtree City for the vote of confidence in electing me the next mayor of Peachtree City.

There is a lot to do to get our priorities, budget and more in line with what the citizens want and our wallets can afford. I believe the voters have elected a mayor and council ready to get the job done.

Several of the goals I stated in the election cycle are already in work. We will have better communications via a website forum, Internet streaming of meetings and creating an online video archive along with staff talking to Comcast about televising meetings.

A more efficient use of hotel/motel tax as well is in work. Ordinance changes I could not get done the last year are again moving forward, including removal of the big box special use permit.

Those are just a few of the efforts under way.

Looking back on the first 50 years, let us all learn and work together to make the next 50 years even better. Yes, there is a lot to do, but it is worth the effort.

Again, thank you for electing me your ninth mayor and for electing a council I look forward to working with in the future.

Don Haddix

Mayor-elect

Peachtree City, Ga.

[Haddix becomes mayor Jan. 1.]

Truly appreciate your letter and Mr. Imker's as well. Just say no when it busts the budget or violates the land use plan. It really can be that simple.

Love the idea of streaming and televising the meeting. Don't drop the TV idea when it gets complicated (and it will). Remember we have a sizable segment of our population whose technology prowess ended with the remote control and VCR. Don't leave them out.
The (purposely???) inconvenient 7PM meeting time keeps many people away from the meetings. If they can pick it up on TV or Internet, they will become more involved and interested. And most importantly, the quality of citizen feedback will increase dramatically. You will hear from more than Phyllis, Bob Brown and Dar.

Good luck and Congratulations.

No brown suits or checked sport coats or pale ties on TV. Stick with Black, navy and jewel-colored accessories.

Dar?

The only time Dar slithers into a city council meeting is when he has a scam to make money and make sure the taxpayers are on the hook if things go south.

As far a Phyllis is concerned, we could use about 20 more of her kind and a few more Beth's as well.

P.S. aren't you a Cyndi supporter or have you switched sides yet again?

If I need to hear constant whining and complaining, I can always read here instead of hearing from the ignorant and grandstanders at the Council meetings. I'd say Beth is a lot better than the usual doom-and-gloom/everything-is-a-total-disaster crowd, though.
