Actually dm, it was 60 votes to stop a Republican filibuster and to allow the bill to be debated. The 60 votes did not pass the bill. And it was the Senate, not the House. You made 3 mistakes in one short sentance. I'll bet you voted for Obama.

Better than the debate on "health care reform" aka Dems buying votes to keep in power, being shut down last night as it should have been, we will now have weeks of discussion that more and more people will be paying attention to - which is not what the dopey Dems wanted. They didn't even what its own members to read the bill, much less the American people (and talk show hosts).

When left-center and right-center voters begin to focus on some of the details - one example being taxpayer funded abortions, there will be enormous pressure to back off this stupid idea. Republican counter-proposals may have to be heard (they have not yet been allowed) and one of which is tort reform aka nuetering John Edwards.

The Dems that have voted to allow this debate (in the Senate) or supported the bill (in the House) are selling tickets to their own execution, currently scheduled for November 2010 - less than a year away, Thank God. All the House members and 1/3 of the Senate members are up for reelection (which will be more like a public flogging if you are a lockstep mindless Dem).

So fine, debate health care, buy votes - $100 million for Louisiana's Senator, as the public gets educated it will get angrier and angrier the longer it goes on. This is why Obama and Pelosi tried to stampeded this thing through quickly with no readings or explanations. Now that it has been slowed in the Senate, each day gets us closer to its demise.

there's no guarantee that Reid can pass a bill at all.

How long do you need to "reading" this bill?

That is the worst excuse for being against something I have ever heard!
If it had said only: (half page)

Everyone who wants to can sign up for Medicare or Medicaid immediately.
Depending upon income and wealth it will cost you what you can afford.
5%; 8%; and 10%. Or whatever it costs you privately.
If you want your policy with the major health companies---be our guest.

If you will not do one or the other, we will put you in jail when you leave the hospital.

Doctors and Hospitals can either be on their own or sign up on salary with the government.

Or, you can move to Canada or Europe.

(could you read that?) (congressmen have 50-60 reading it--they wrote it)
