Let the Medical Rationing begin

“I mean, let the rationing begin,” said Representative Dave Camp of Michigan, the ranking Republican on the Ways and Means Committee. “This is what happens when bureaucrats make your health care decisions.”

“On Monday, the task force, an independent panel that is appointed by the Department of Health and Human Services, released guidelines saying that most women should start routine breast cancer screening at age 50 rather than 40, as is now the standard.”

“The recommendation carries influence, but is not government policy and is not enforceable. The American Cancer Society said it would continue to recommend regular screenings at 40 and major insurers, including the government’s own Medicare program, have no immediate plans to change coverage of mammograms.” New York Times.. (SF can you find this one?)

Get used to the idea.. Already the attempt to change our idea of Healthcare is starting.. You don’t really need to be screened for Breast Cancer or Colon Cancer or anything else at least until you’re too old for it to matter. Then they will decide if you are worth it.

Yep it’s all about Health and Care..Link to story

Watch out! The next move is to place anyone wearing a pink ribbon on the White House watch list!

The timing dovetails quite nicely into the Universal Healthcare debate. I will not be surprised if they start touting the benefits of smoking within the next decade. Dollar cost justified
