Why are PTC resturants closing

I have noticed several resturants closing lately. Why? Fudruckers was busy all the time.

I heard, but have not been able to confirm, that the "Buckhead Brewery" is going to be transformed into a "Cheesecake Factory".
Any truth? I see the sign now says Leased.

I think lousy service is the culprit in some cases. Remember Don Pablo's? The service was awful, and I'm really patient about that kind of thing. I wasn't surprised when they folded.

At the same time, good service (along with good food) can build customer loyalty. I've been to Smokey Bones three times in the last month and part of it is due to the fact they have very good staff that are on the ball.

I'd love to see a really good local non-chain steakhouse get started. I think that's a niche that hasn't been filled yet.

We have too many resturants for the population. Still having said that, I'd love to see an all you can eat buffet like Ryans, Golden Corral, etc. We don't need another Chinese, Pizza, Mexican, Hamburger, or bar/resturant. In short, diverisify or stop building new resturants !!!!

Because there were too many restaurants built at the same time and too few customers. The 26 and 27 year old restaurant and site locator "professionals" rely upon demographic data that any (local) fool can see is bogus. If you have ever heard one of these location pitches they make to coroprate HQ - Peachtree City is full of rich people who eat out every night of the week.

Obviously the reality is different.

Rachel worked at both of these restraunts and now they are closed. Maybe they bring her in as the place is going down and she does her job of closing the doors.

Lots of activity around it lately, and the Staubach Real Estate sign is down. Also the "3 Dollar Cafe" sign is now back up on the building on 74 North.

I was told that the owners of the Fuddruckers building went way up on their rent.

If the owners of the Fuddruckers building went way up on their rent they guessed wrong, because they are way down now with a vacant building. Stupid greedy people get what they deserve eventually. Wow, it felt good to say that. Makes me want to be a Democrat for a day - wait, no I'm over that now.

On The Border was run into the ground by new management. Another case of If it's not broken don't fix it.

Don't forget our glowing economy.

In two avery household income reports I saw it appeared over a few years it has dropped almost $20,000.00 per household.

Less money means less spending.

Then toss in the Hapeville Ford plant, Ft. McPherson and Ft. Gillam closings and Delta paycuts and looming doom and of course people are going to cut back on spending.

I hear of people being hurt all around here financially all the time.

Anyone who thinks these people are going to be routinely dropping $50.00 plus on for the family eathing out better think again.

I just try to be real.

As with On the Border. Same guy owns 3 adjoining restaurants. He closed it because, or at least claimed, it was not making as much profit as the other 3.

And rent is a killer. Most people don't realize just how much money has to brought in a month just to pay that! Well over a dollar a square foot adds up quick.

It does cost a lot to run a "good" place. RE On the Border, they closed locations in a few places around town. Menu also similar to Chili's in my opinion. Also, better (best in PTC) Mexican food can be found just north up 74 at the Hacienda. At least that's my thoughts on it.

Having moved from a city that had relatively few chains, Peachtree City is kind of disappointing.

Longhorn, Outback, Carabas, Smokey Bones, Chilis, and Macaroni are all, in my opinion, the same darn place with the same fried salty food. Cheese sticks, Blooming onions, burgers, and drab salads. It's all the same, and often these places are owned by the same corporations. Plus, there are three McDonalds, a Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, etc. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

America is becoming more and more homogenized. All the houses look the same. All the teachers teach the same. All the schools look the same. All the restaurants serve the same. All the cars look the same.

Yuck, yuck, yuck.

And that's all I have to say about it.

At least Peachtree City is unique in that it has the golf cart path system.

Without that: SAME as all the other towns.

You are right but it has been going on for years. My Mother was able to travel w/ my Dad all over the country and beyond and she remarked 1 day it wasn't any more fun to shop in Minneapolis than Atlanta..it had all become the same. When we all clamor to have a Wal-Mart, etc every 12 miles apart this is what we get. If you don't support your local business (or local musician) you get Muzak. Even the chain rest. failed when they tinkered w/ their menus. Teachers teach for a "standardized" test. & Amen to moving to the beach but it's a disap. only 72 in Key West. It is still great to live in the resort town we call PTC.
