Jobs 'Saved or Created' in Congressional Districts That Don't Exist

S. Lindsey's picture

“Here's a stimulus success story: In Arizona's 15th congressional district, 30 jobs have been saved or created with just $761,420 in federal stimulus spending. At least that's what the Web site set up by the Obama administration to track the $787 billion stimulus says. “ ABC News(bogus website)

The Arizona’s 86th district also saved/created another 80 jobs for a Million bucks.. Oh the problem..?

Arizona only has 10 districts..

These are just a few of the “ERRORS” ferreted out on this Administrations claim of “Saving/Creating” jobs.

You want a few more here ya go..

In Oklahoma, recovery.gov lists more than $19 million in spending -- and 15 jobs created -- in yet more congressional districts that don't exist.

In Iowa, it shows $10.6 million spent – and 39 jobs created -- in nonexistent districts.

In Connecticut's 42nd district (which also does not exist), the Web site claims 25 jobs created with zero stimulus dollars.

The list of spending and job creation in fictional congressional districts extends to U.S. territories as well.

$68.3 million spent and 72.2 million spent in the 1st congressional district of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

$8.4 million spent and 40.3 jobs created in the 99th congressional district of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

$1.5 million spent and .3 jobs created in the 69th district and $35 million for 142 jobs in the 99th district of the Northern Mariana Islands.

$47.7 million spent and 291 jobs created in Puerto Rico's 99th congressional district.

Now I have to ask.. Just WHERE DID THE MONEY REALLY GO?

Does this surprise anyone?

In a sad way you have to admire the audacity of American politicians/crooks. They have no shame. They honestly feel they are entitled to our money.

The one that's unbelievable to me on so many levels is the idea of moving the Guantanamo Bay prisoners to Illinois, and creating up to 3600 jobs at a cost of around $1B over the next 4 years. That's about $5 million per detainee over the next 4 years.

I think we need to hire another cowboy to solve this problem.

Growing up in the Chicago area, we used to hear this kind of stuff all the time with the first Mayor Daley. Repairs to roads and bridges that didn't exist. Huge payrolls for departments that didn't exist.

Daley and his Alderman pals had opulent beachfront homes on Lake Michigan just north of the Indiana/Michigan state line. The homes were maintained full-time by, you guessed it, employees of the City of Chicago.

I haven't lived there in a long time, but old friends tell me this stuff is still going on under the current Mayor Daley.

Obama and his thugs learned from the pros.

Sonny Perdue had a law written that only he qualified for so he could get $100,000 in tax breaks. When he was asked how others could gain a $100,000 tax break, he responded, "Get yourself elected governor.". What a filthy crook. I cannot believe Georgians would vote for such a corrupt person.

Didn't he have a lodge in the NY mountains for him and his paramour? State troopers did the driving and protecting.
It is common for those high strung dudes. Drove poor old Mr. Speaker Richardson nuts! Sonny was crying over it.

That down in south Georgia somewhere, we saved 900+ jobs in a recreation dept. although only 500+ work there. Ya gotta admire that kind of math.

The worst is yet to come: Unemployed Americans should hunker down for more job losses

"So we can expect that job losses will continue until the end of 2010 at the earliest. In other words, if you are unemployed and looking for work and just waiting for the economy to turn the corner, you had better hunker down. All the economic numbers suggest this will take a while. The jobs just are not coming back."

Yep, that 787 billion in Stimu-pork really did the trick Mr. President - way to go!!

I believe my favorite lie posted was attributed to the amazing recovery in Talladega County, Alabama. It claimed they saved or created 5,000 jobs...get this though, from only $42,000 in government money. If you do the math, that would mean if all 5,000 made the same income it would be $8.40 annually. Now, I know the cost of living is cheaper in rural Alabama and all that, but.....

The interesting thing is the Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, a DEMOCRAT, is calling out the Obama administration on this. Rep. David Obey called the inaccuracies "outrageous" and the administration owes the American public "a commitment to work night and day to correct the ludicrous mistakes".

Huge props to Ed Pound, the communications director for the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board though. He said the mistakes were caused by human error. He said "We report what the recipients submit to us". Nice.....

How many of the 13 million out of work did Bush LOSE?

meanoldconservatives's picture
Submitted by meanoldconservatives on Tue, 11/17/2009 - 1:36pm.

The last count I saw was Bush was responsible for 24 of them. However, it is a little difficult to determine since you and all the other Obama APOLOGISTS refuse to decide/admit when Barry's term actually began.

Submitted by Bonkers on Tue, 11/17/2009 - 3:29pm.

Who is Barry? Is that the President?

Well, since he doesn't have a suitable birth certificate, he really isn't serving as yet!

The President didn't bring any of these people out of work with him---none! You know that.

Submitted by meanoldconservatives on Tue, 11/17/2009 - 4:36pm.

You won't get any disagreement from me when you state Obama isn't serving yet.

Having said that, here are the pertinent facts:

Barry's term started Jan 20, 2009 (deal with it).

Unemployment was at 8.1% when he took office.

It is now at 10.2%.

His jobs saved and created claims are BS and are being proven so. (I noticed you didn't address the point of the post. You just went into but, but, but, Bush......)

Keep trying to spin that like a good little Democrat sycophant.....

Talking about avoiding the subject!

What the devil difference does it make how many jobs have been saved?

Bush actually saved some of his own creat5ion by bailing out the banks. If they had all shut down, havoc would have been immediate instead of gradual as is happening.

Shouldn't we be working together on this to stop the continued degradation of jobs and bank operations?
How can you think any thinking person thinks Obama caused all of this unemployment---makes NO sense!

He is trying to save Bush's A..

Submitted by Bonkers on Wed, 11/18/2009 - 4:44am.

You said he was responsible for the difference in 8 and 10% unemployment!!
If you didn't say that what did you mean?
He didn't bring any jobs or unemployment with him in January!
Solving eight years of catastrophe can't be done immediately!!

Stop blaming democrats until they have a chance.
If you don't, then suggest what they should be doing, to immediately solve the problems.

This crap isn't worth arguing.

Oh no, it doesn't work like that Bonker$. You can't blame Bush for everything in the previous 8 years and then say all the current problems happening in this administration are none of Barry's doings. His "policies" are speaking for themselves, much to your liking and to my side's dismay. The clock has been on for his term since Jan 20th whether you want it to be or not.

"Stop blaming democrats until they have a chance."

Oh, I've been admiring the sparkling results from the Democratic controlled Congress for quite some time now. Really impressive....

"This crap isn't worth arguing."

Then, like I told you before old man.....don't respond to my posts. Especially with losing arguments. Easy as that....

"What the devil difference does it make how many jobs have been saved?"

Because they are lying about the recovery and they know it. Besides, gullible fools like you believe their BS or don't care if they are being BS'ed. Which is the case with you?

"How can you think any thinking person thinks Obama caused all of this unemployment---makes NO sense!"

I never said one time that Obama caused all of this unemployment. I specified the numbers when he took office and now. Anyone with a brain (which obviously excludes you) can see the difference.

"He is trying to save Bush's A.."

Now you just show what a fool you are. Barry is trying to do a lot of things. But, nowhere on that list is saving Bush's A$$. Besides, after his start he'd better be concerned with his own A$$.
