2-2 tie dooms 6-ft. PTC fence request

A resident’s request to change the minimum front yard fence height in Peachtree City from four feet to six feet will go unconsidered for now.

Smokerise resident David Cree asked the city council for the change so he can better protect his property. He cited two recent burglaries in his subdivision as a reason he wants to increase his fence height, and also bring it closer to the street.

Currently the city allows fences to be built only after the road setback on a particular parcel.

A representative of the Smokerise homeowners association told council that many residents would oppose fences reaching six feet tall.

Councilman Steve Boone said he felt the idea had some merit and some homes on larger acreage could have a higher fence. Boone suggested staff conduct research on the matter to bring back to council at a later date.

But his motion failed on a 2-2 tie, with Cyndi Plunkett voting in favor and Harold Logsdon joining Doug Sturbaum in dissent.

Due to the tie, the matter was considered dead and council moved to the next item on the agenda.

Why in the world would they vote in favor of this? All this would do would be to create a variance. What would be an easy to enforce city ordinance and covenents would become unenforceable and a further erosion of what makes Peachtree City what it is.

What is their vision of our city? It must be to create a South Atlanta version of Camp Creek Parkway and Cascade Road. Largescale stores and congestion and a hodgepodge of housing units and styles. They are taking a perfectly serviceable city plan and turning it into a commercial quagmire and joke.
We voted one of these out of office, let's finish this up so that we can change the course of this city.

Welcome to the 'why in the world would [Plunkett] vote that way...' club. Really the answer doesn't matter to me since the remedy is the same - VOTE PLUNKETT OUT!

PTC fence request dies

Now we just need Mrs. Plunkett’s Mayoral campaign to do the same.

OK, anyone who wants a 6 foot front yard fence is hopelessly in need of some ideas about good landscaping and yards. Do they have a reality show like "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" when it comes to yards?

Even Logsdon got this one right and for whatever reason Steve Boone decided to venture out on his own and go the other way. Cyndi? Yet another bad vote.

Between this vote and her vote on the tower issue she certainly isn't wining any new votes.

already won the "booby" prize. Free cell phones and usage for life. From the cell company of her choosing.

Comes in close second, wouldn't you say? At least closer than this vote will be for her!Sticking out tongue
