22,000,000 people need a jobMany others need a better paying job. (any family under 40,000 per year) There are those (Boehner, for instance) who say that Obama promised 8% unemployment and it is near 10%, so he failed. Had all of eight months and failed. There are those who say we should not have bailed out the banks and Insurance and auto companies--but we should have just let them all go broke at once, laid-off nearly everyone, and started over from scratch. No banks, no car companies, no Insurance companies, no stock market, everyone broke except the top 10%. There are those who say it wasn't Bush's fault but Clinton---at least it was congress's fault. OK so we "fault" someone. Now what do we do? I would guess the answer is somewhere in the middle---we will get higher unemployment numbers but maybe not the magical 20%, and maybe 10-12,000,000 of those unemployed will get a good job within the next two years. I wish that last statement was correct. I fear not. We got screwed. Not enough gravitas. Maybe, just maybe we will find another group of benefactors who will loan us another ten trillion and we simply will proceed to go at it again by borrowing. Bonkers's blog | login to post comments |
