Cops plan weekend DUI crackdown for HalloweenThu, 10/29/2009 - 10:34am
By: John Munford
Peachtree City police and some of their law enforcement brethren will be on patrol Friday and Saturday in a special Halloween DUI crackdown event. Friday and Saturday, police will host a series of road checks and concentrated patrols in the area to target DUI offenders. Because of Halloween being part of a weekend, officials anticipate a larger number of impaired drivers on the road than usual. Some of the road check locations will be on high-volume corridors, police said. There will be special blood alcohol testing unit trailers on hand along with wreckers on standby to two away vehicles impounded from drunk drivers. Peachtree City Police Chief Skip Clark said sobriety checkpoints are an effective way to maximize the city’s DUI deterrence efforts. Agencies expected to participate include the Fayette and Coweta county sheriff’s departments, the Georgia State Patrol and the Fayetteville Police Department. login to post comments |
