Iraq Bases?

There must be over a thousand acres of land on the Tigris River that runs through Baghdad that house a gigantic American Embassy and military installations!
They cost numerous billions of dollars to build and even include underground fortifications.

All that wasn't built to abandon soon!
We intend to be there a long time just as we have in Korea, Japan, Germany, and other places.

No announcement will be made about our staying until we have withdrawn our combat troops from the rest of Iraq. Then we will say that the compounds are permanent but the troops there will not venture out unless attacked.

Why is that? Oil!

Since no one will be killed very often, Obama will not be blamed for staying. The Pentagon, CIA and others will convince him that they can not leave all that.

Afghanistan is a different matter. They are the ones who allowed Saudi and North African "Camp people" to train there for terror.
We gave them 8 years to prepare for our eventual occupation of Afghanistan, and it appears they have done a good job preparing.

I don't know what we are about to do about that situation but maybe the same sort of compound as is in Iraq!

The hard-line militants in our government and population have enough pull to see to something happening for perpetual war to some extent.

After all they have killed 6000 of us and wounded maybe 40,000. We can't let them get away with that!
