Charter Bank in Tyrone was robbed shortly after opening Wednesday morning. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.

Police Chief Brandon Perkins said a black male entered the Charter Bank branch in Tyrone on Carriage Oaks Drive at approximately 9:09 a.m. and brandished a silver semi-automatic handgun. The man forced employees into the vault after having the teller empty her drawer into a garbage bag.

No shots were fired and no injuries reported, Perkins said.

Perkins said the suspect is approximately 5'11" to 6' tall and roughly 200 pounds. He might have been driving or riding in an older model gray Jeep Cherokee (box style).

Anyone with information pertaining to this robbery is asked to contact Tyrone Police at (770) 487-4732.

Information and a photo on the bank robbery can also be found on the Tyrone Police website at www.tyrone.org/police

The guy that robbed the bank was the president of the bank? I missed that somehow.

Did any of you who subscribe to the PTC alert system notice how quick that new TheNixle service got the alert out about this? I received it on my phone and in my email not long after the incident. I'm not sure who manages this service for PTC but kudos on the quality and speed of the service...could be a life saver in the future.

What do you want to bet that he lives in South Hampton?

It's obvious from the poor quality of this photo that Charter Banks have no policy of protecting it's customers or employees. I'm sure their Loss Prevention department figures this theft into the cost of doing business. No big deal. If there is bodily injury or, God forbid, a murder committed, the bank will come out with the statement that they are devastated by the actions of criminals and value the life of their employees above everything.
Yeah, right. And pigs fly.

I can go down to Costco or Radio shack and plunk down a few hundred on a camera system with a much better resolution.

And didn't The Bank of Georgia on 74 toward Fairburn get robbed last week? where is the coverage on that?

Guys...if the banks system is anywhere compatible to the one I have, this fuzzy, copy and paste photo is probably digital. On a similar pic on my system we can hone in view the buggers hanging out this piece of human debris' nose.

Mock the pic all you want. Rest assured I'll bet the law dawgs are laughing their rumps off at this clown as he gazes into the camera with his 'possum fittin to git squished' look in his eyes. I'm betting this boy thug gets picked up in record time. Just sayin.....
