GOP spends stimulus money in Georgia

Please explain:

Interesting that GOP Congressmen are spending stimulus money that they disapprove of.

“If the Democrats are hellbent on spending an astronomical sum of money,” Gingrey said in a statement this week, “it is my job as a member of Congress to see that the communities I represent receive consideration for the federal funds that the Democrats are spending, whether I agreed with its allocation or not.”

Do you just go looking for articles from the liberal bed-wetters at the Atlanta Urinal Constipation with headlines that attempt to diss Republicans, or do you actually read them?

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.

Isn't republicans dissing stimulus money but then gladly accepting it just like someone saying they don't believe in alcohol comsumption but hey, while it's being passed around, I think I'll take a swig myself?? Just another example of there's not a whit of difference between the two parties except this...say this for the democrats...they are at least up front with this kind of thing.

they had better...

but let me get this straight.. It's ok to be corrupt as long as "you're upfront about it"?

What is "corrupt" about accepting money from Washington that was sent there?
Just don't say it is wrong and then accept it anyway! Even Sonny folded on that one!

Some people (not understandable) espouse one thing and do another!

Lot of church people like that and justify it by saying "I am trying," I am just weak!

Watch out for these people.

No, S.Lindsey, that's not what I'm saying. I'm not saying anyone is "corrupt" in this. I'm saying the republicans who rail against the sitmulus package but then turn around and take it to look good for the folks back home are hypocrits. If they are so morally against it, then they should not take it...the only reason they do take it is for a very self serving reason...to get re-elected. So now the republicans can have it both ways....campaign as anti-stimulus package and at the same time, brag about how they brought home the bacon to their districts. As I said, right or wrong, the democrats make no bones about wanting it and don't hide behind a cloak of false pretenses.

Excellent answer to Mr. Kawfi! Reading requires the ability to comprehend and analyze. Mr. Kawfil has difficulty with this. . .but he's improving. The information (a graph) showed that the Georgia Republicans, who have consistently denigrated the ‘funds’, have taken more than their Democrat colleagues. Where is the integrity? This just say 'no' is unconscionable - if you've said no - but believe your constituents will benefit from the funds!

What would happen if you represent a group of people half of which think you should take the Money that is offered and you say no..?

I know you love to slam a repub.. ok I can go with that.. I slam them all the time. However Reality is the Money was allocated.. If they failed to take it in their district would it go back to the Tax payers.. NO. It would go to other districts..

No matter what their personal thoughts and feelings on the money.. they have a duty to their constituents to take the funds.

S.Lindsey, I want you to go back and take a look at your last paragraph and then look at what your Thomas Jefferson tag line says. They have a "duty" to take the money you say. But isnt that contradictory to what Thomas Jefferson says in your tag line?? So which is it??

Do you understand what Thomas Jefferson was saying there? How does that equate to what I said?

Are you ok with the massive spending?

Did you understand my "Jack Daniels" analogy?

Jefferson is advocating a smaller government which I agree with. Yet your comment about them having a "duty" to accept stimulus money flies in the face of smaller government. It is not a matter of "duty". It is a matter of doing the right thing. If they are fiscally responsible and believe in smaller government they would refuse to accept the stimulus funds and explain to their constituents back home why they did so. But no, they want it both ways...rant and rave about the evils of the stimulus package but accept the money with a false "gee whiz, I really didnt want to do this" attitude when taking the money. Why? To get re-elected! And that is why the republicans who accept this are hypocrits!

It's the hypocrisy that stinks -regardless of 'party'.
I'm sick of the whole political 'reality'.

I have some friends who are older - and you all know I'm older than dirt - who after receiving the information that their health care insurance will be more expensive next year - have made the decision to allow a 'disease' to takes it's course. THIS IS AMERICA! Why do we have to deal with this type of scenario??? THIS IS A REALITY that is playing out all over our country. Some have elected to go to Mexico for 'cures'. Do we allow the cost of health care to determine when we DIE? DO WE HAVE MONEY TO SPEND ON AMTRAK - and not stop the escalating cost of health care? Please help me understand!!!! We are a sick nation if we can't take care of ourselves/our own. These are people who worked hard, save wisely, live within their means - but would like to enjoy the life they have left rather than pay more for 'health care'. I know, I know - it's their decision - but why on God's earth are Americans being put in this position? This should not be the ‘reality’ of our country!

I wish everyone in this country had good jobs, nice homes, lived in good communities, the best schools, great health care, etc., but that's not the reality nor will it ever be.

Health care is something that transcends(or should) politics, but everything going on right now is pure politics that is almost guaranteed to end in a "solution" that doesn't provide better or more affordable care. The whole approach has been hopelessly simplistic and downright asinine to a very complex issue that impacts EVERYONE in the country. Our political leaders of all stripes presently are way below the level required to consider something of this magnitude in a rushed fashion.

Artificial deadlines for purely political purposes since it's 2009 and not big election year 2010 to pass "something," buying-off the pill-pushing clowns at Big Pharma, co-opting via the Clinton "triangulation" principle those who normally might be the opposition, trying to demonize insurance companies, completely ignoring every Repub idea and then yelling into the mike that they are obstructing everything despite every idea of theirs being rejected outright.......this is a quagmire right now.

Health care isn't going to get better or cheaper in this environment. You might end up with something as bad as Bush's Medi-reforms or worse. What you won't get is something that most will benefit from. Taking a huge issue like American health care and turning it into a political circus at the same time you have a Prezbo who just broke new ground in politics is something that isn't achievable. At least not something "good."

Take a look at Denmark. (Especially their 'health care') . . and they're considered among the happpiest people in the world!! What are we Americans doing wrong?

Agreed. However, this should not have been allowed to get to this point! Reasonable health care has been on the burner since FDR! Too much thought given to 'WHY NOT' and not enough brain power on 'HOW TO'.
VERY, very frustrating! (And too much misinformation due to 'politics'.)
