Police: woman took elderly man's card for joyride

A Jonesboro woman was arrested Tuesday by Peachtree City police for for going on quite a shopping spree with an elderly man’s credit card, officials said.

Sandra Lee Miller, 40, of Devonshire Boulevard, Jonesboro is charged with 20 counts of identity fraud.

According to police, Miller was working for an elderly Peachtree City man doing housework and other miscellaneous tasks when he gave her his Discover card to purchase some medicine.

Miller is alleged to have used the card to a tune of $2,718 in 20 different purchase and cash advance transactions in Peachtree City, Jonesboro and Norcross, police said.

is long here. First the cardowner, next all the merchants (who obviously didn't match ID & Card) and finally, the accused. I really want to ask if there was a Plastic Surgeon involved, but I won't go there!

his PIN as well if that works with a Discover card. Otherwise, yes, shame on the merchants who never asked for ID. I always thank the ones that do ask me.

According to the agreement the merchant has with the credit card processors, they are not allowed to ask for ID. They are supposed to check to make sure the card is signed and then match the signature on the receipt to the signature on the card. Cards without a signature are not supposed to be valid.

Where did you hear that? A lot of retail place require employees to check ID's.
