No Grace NO!

The citizens of Tyrone have a decision to make. Four years ago Grace Caldwell was elected to the Tyrone Town Council after waging a campaign of misinformation, half-truths, and outright fabrications. Grace Caldwell promised: "strategic planning and thoughtful decisions with citizen input" (Citizen 11/01/05); "Enforce the land use plan", "Balance the growth of Tyrone", and "insure the citizens have input on important issues" (Citizen 10/18/05); "We’ve got to have a traffic plan", and "We need a planner to help our staff"(Citizen 11/14/05). The major rallying cry of Grace’s 2005 election campaign was "Save Shamrock Park". She promised the citizens that if elected Shamrock Park would be a priority for improvements. For two years Grace kept up this rallying cry claiming that although she wanted to make improvements to Shamrock Park she was being blocked by the Mayor and other two council members. In 2007 the voters of Tyrone gave Grace what she wanted and elected the majority of the candidates Grace backed to the position of Mayor and Council member (a 4-1 majority).
Fast forward to 2009: NO improvements have been made to Shamrock Park, in fact improvements to Shamrock Park are no longer even discussed at council meetings even though the Town ended up with a $201,265 surplus in 2008 (page 27 Tyrone 2008 audit). NO balance growth, growth has simply been eliminated. NO traffic plan, it has never been brought up in a council meeting. NO planner to help staff. NO strategic planning and thoughtful decisions with citizen input, this group only wants to hear from "their" supporters and only then when they are praising them.
What Grace Caldwell has accomplished with her group is increase administrative costs by 34%; increased legal fees by 275%; made improvements to Triangle Park and Handley Park while ignoring Shamrock Park; put a new coat of paint on roads that are falling apart; forced a developer to stop all construction on Palmetto Road leaving unsightly, unsafe, partially constructed buildings to "impress" visitors coming into our town (I am sure that the fact that they are across the street from the house of the former Mayor who defeated Grace in 2003 had nothing to do with Grace’s action) ; drove previously successful businesses out of existence; eliminated the newsletter that kept the citizens informed; and abandoned two federal grants that would have paid for two extensions to the path system at no costs to the citizens.
Now Grace Caldwell wants the citizens to give her four more years! She has proven that she cannot tell the truth nor can she be trusted. I hope my fellow Tyrone citizens will have the same good sense that the citizens of Fayette County had after suffering through one term with Grace Caldwell as a county commissioner and vote her out of office
