Slow Surrender To The Taliban

Git Real's picture

So we surrender by slowly allowing the Taliban to have a part in the Afghan government. Hmmmmmm.... makes complete sense to me. Puzzled

Didn't we go there to eradicate them from their tyranical / evil rule over the Afghan people?

Can someone please splain all this to me?

Second thought.....forget it. I can already predict the silly defense of Obama's new strategy.

Uh, no. We went there to open up barrels of "whoopass" on Al Qaeda, and the Taliban got in our way.
Here is a good explanation on why the strategy will have to change: Why Defeating Insurgencies Is Hard
In Afghanistan and in Iraq, war is not a solution to the problems. I always wondered why, when 15 of 19 9/11 hijackers were Saudis, did we invade Afghanistan?

What is Obama's strategy?

He doesn't have one obviously. His "strategy" was to whine non-stop about Bush invading Iraq and stating repeatedly that everything should be focused on Afghanistan instead. He gets elected, realizes that now he's the one in the hot seat who has to make these BIG DECISIONS, and he folds.

I expect some half-azz solution that irritates everyone. The US will stay, boost troop levels a LITTLE, and that will be that. Those who want a surge(like the military who does the work) will be PO'd, those who want to get out entirely will be PO'd, Afghanistan will still be a total quagmire, and someone else will have to sort out the mess in 2012.

Oh, getting all of our allies on-board with the new kinder, gentler foreign policy and image isn't leading anyone to suddenly commit more troops to Afghanistan either. Everyone else is more than happy to get the hell out and leave the US to deal with it.

Obama put himself into a corner with all of his campaign rhetoric that was based on ignorance and pandering to the masses, now he has to live with and defend that position.

military. If I did or had one who was injured mentally or physically, or worse yet, lost their life I would be storming Washington. What are these wonderful young people fighting for and losing their lives over? I say bring all of them home now and let all of them over there fight it out amongst themselves. They have fought these battles for thousands of years and will continue to do so. Let's start looking out for our own. Spend all those millions we would waste there shoring up our own country, make us as safe as possible and build up our country to what it once was. Pretty soon they will be sitting in that Taj Mahal of an embassy we built there, directing their war of terror against us. Let's do more to protect us than issue codes--red, blue, orange, rainbow-whatever. We build them up as we go deeper into debt and the result will be the same--except that we will be a weaker and poorer nation--unable to defend ourselves at home. Enough is enough. Basta!

I am certain that Mr. Carbon Unit, Mr. Lion, and Ms. David's Mom will straighten this all out for us. I for one, really need some enlightenment on this whole situation.

I've been sitting on the sidelines shaking my head in disbelief over what is going on with President Obama's agenda and these strange world wide happenings. Maybe the zealots are correct in their end of times rantings.

because that is what it is.. The fight for America has started.

WE will either be a FREE Nation based on the principles of the Founding Fathers or we will see as Obama puts it.. a "Fundamentally changed America".

Which one will we see.. For me.. I want what our Founding Fathers envisioned for us.. The left wants us to be more like Europe. While they are moving away from Socialism.. we are racing towards it..

I will not let it stand without a fight.

Well... after Gore we already questioned the Nobel Group's credibility. Does this leave any doubt what-so-ever?

Perhaps they are awarding this upfront in 'faith' that Obama is actually going to earn such a once esteemed award sometime in the future? Puzzled

your President had to be nominated by Feb 1 according to Noble rules. So he was nominated after just a few days in office. What a bunch of bovine manure. Are they going to take it back after they find out he hasn't done anything?

American citizen prove to be right? Do they take away the presidency? Does his Nobel Peace Prize as well as the nation go to Joe Biden by forfeit? Hmmm, veeeerrry interesting.

He has proven himself over and over again to be nothing but a pathological liar.
