Electing Vanessa Fleisch step in right direction

By: Letters to the ...

I am writing to explain why I, a 14-year resident of Peachtree City, will be voting for Vanessa Fleisch for City Council, Post 4, in November.

Her letter to The Citizen of Sept. 22 I believe to be an example of what we can expect of Vanessa when elected. She is direct and she is specific. I believe her to be scrupulously honest and a woman of her word.

That belief is based on knowing her more closely perhaps than most PTC voters, and I suggest nobody simply take my word for this claim but listen and read carefully her positions on developing our city.

There are no “uncontrolled growth” candidates in the race, as far as I know. And candidates in the past have declared themselves to favor “controlled growth,” as does Vanessa.

But I feel a sense of uneasiness among PTC residents that growth has not been as controlled in the recent past as it ought to or could have been.

Electing Vanessa will be a step in the right direction on this important issue. She will make sure all the cards on the table will be face up.

You are correct that Vanessa's Sept. 22 letter is an example of what we can expect from Vanessa. Direct, specific and TOTALLY WRONG!!!! It may even be well-intentioned, but her idea of holding back permits on Property B, until Property A rents most of his space is so far out of bounds that it is embarrassing.

Lawsuits are expensive and I would guess if the Rotary weasels had stopped throwing the candidates softballs last night and asked my rather pointed question of Vanessa about her idea that all the other candidates would immediately see how foolish and illegal it was. What wimps - Rotary had my question before the meeting started and they buried it.

Even with the lack of serious questions, the forum was good and I was impressed by Shelby Barker. Bt default Kim and Les will get my other votes as will Scott for mayor.

I usually appreciate your thoughtful perspective on the various issues facing PTC. However, after attending the candidate forum, I've got to ask: In what manner do you think Rowland added to his credibility with his baffling performance last night? He seemed clueless at times.

I disn't get a warm fuzzy feeling or a tingle running up my leg (ala Chris Mattews). What I saw was a rookie getting used to the enviornment. He will get better. He should have run for council - any post.

What I actually said was that I will vote for him By default (even though I somehow misspelled By). I am a strong anti-incumbent and Don and Cyndi are both incumbents, as much as they pretend to be new and fresh. They have been part of the problem and they do not need to be part of the solution.

I know this will result in a protest from Mister (3-2 votes are unfair) Haddix, but I'm ready for it.

I am voting for Scott, Kim, Shelby and Les.
