The Detail Store Car Wash

I have never blogged before but read your comments daily. I have experienced something, that I felt should be passed on to Fayette County consumers and to ask your opinion as to where to go next.

I took my car in for washing and cleaning to the Detail Store on Crosstown Rd. As per usually the owner is grumpy and not thankful for my business when I pay the bill, which included air freshening this time. When I left, and went to my next establishment I realized that the air freshener was not added, and as I returned to the car, I noticed it was filthy in the front. I called the owner immediately, who gruffly once again with me who suggested that he was closing up now, but come back tomorrow.

The next day, I arrived, and this grumpy owner was walking towards the wash place. I noticed him and asked "Sir, are you heading inside?" He proceeded to not look my way, just point a finger up to state in a minute. I went inside. He grumpily asked me where my keys were. I advised him they were in the car, and he turned immediately away. I said "wait" I paid for air freshener that I did not get. He grabbed my copy and proceeded to state; no you didn't, but then noticed I did. Without saying one word, he turned to get into my car.

I then walked out as he was pointing out the front only for the washer employee to spray and then dry. I came up to the owner and stated that I noticed more areas not clean. He was bent down, so I bent down to point below the door. He could not see the dirt and proceeded to tell me that it was paint. I bent lower, and we bumped heads. He just very rudely stated that I was in his light and to move it. I proceeded to tell him "I will not come back here anymore, that he has been very rude to me." He threw down his hands and walked away from me not saying a word, just grumpy looking. I proceeded to work with the employee washer who spoke no English. No employees out there could speak English. And he got it done. In my opinion, the car should have been re-washed entirely and at the very least, stated that he was sorry for my inconvience.

I will never use this car wash establishment ever again. It is a shame as we have 4 cars that need washing periodically, and I have used this establishment for these cars for the past few years as I live in the area. Ever since the car wash place closed by Fisher Rd area.

Although I have encountered this grumpy, non communitive, unfriendly owner on several occasions, I let that go in the past. I can no longer do that! Especially in this economy and how I was treated, due to there error.

My family has resided in Fayette County for 29 years, we try to stay faithful with local small town mom & pop establishments, so they can earn a decent living for their family and to keep them in business.

Where is there a decent car wash detailing place to go around here now? I would like recommendations please! We are people that need help in this as we have health issues. I will go into Newnan or up to North Fayette County. Or is it better for the economy to have those waterless car company come to my home. Please help!

but there is an upscale detail shop in Tyrone. I don't know the name but if you are coming out of PTC on 74, Publix is on your left in Tyrone, you then pass a Bank and a drug store, it is on the left, right past the drug store. I've heard it is good.

The place in Tyrone is Reflections Car Wash and they've done a good job with my car. I'll gladly drive the extra distance and pay a little more for a place that does a good job and appreciates my business.

The Detail Store in PTC is very close to my office, but I'll never go there again unless the ownership and service changes. The last time I went there my car sat in the line untouched for 45 minutes while other cars that came in after me were serviced. The quality was terrible.

Any community deserves better.

I stopped going to this place years ago. The wife was the rag of the business. She didnt care if we existed. He was close behind. I figured I really dont need them. Their work was sloppy, they blamed everything on your poor paint job. Part of their machines didnt work and if you pointed that out you would catch hell. I would rather have a burger king on that corner than that ungrateful couple.

The owner seems to be always in a bad mood when I have been there. He seems to prefer not to be in communication with any one, unless he knows you. I to had to take my car back for repeat clean up. I have not been back since then. I prefer the location up on North Fayette, when I am in the area, I stop. They are very, friendly, better prices and clean the dash area, which some car places have stopped doing.

So be careful. Never met the wife, but the owner dude has an attitude and I've just decided to go elsewhere.

I have no idea why people who obviously can't deal with people go into a people-oriented business. Does that make any sense? My question or the idea that people in businesses like this self destruct.

Quite the story you've told. I do have to say that I frequent the Detail Store several times a year and have always had a good experience there. I've engaged the owner and his wife many times over the years and have always exchanged pleasant conversations with them. Pleasant enough that I go out of my way to visit them.

Sorry for your bad experiences there. It puzzles me. Puzzled

Been going there for years. Never had an unpleasant experience. I have always found the owner and his wife to be quite agreeable. However, if I was dissatisfied I would just take my business elsewhere and not start a blog defaming this man's business. But then again I'm not a Yankee.

I have used them several times and the wife seems to understand that they are in the service business and has always been nice and professional. The guy on the other hand is a pain, non-communicative, and I get better service from teenagers at a fast food place. The work has always been very good and I've always felt like I got my $$$ worth, so I kind of let him slide.
