MORE CITIZEN BLOGGER STUPIDITY

Newsboy's picture

Obama haters giddy with glee over Chicago's failed bid to host the 2016 Games no doubt will now demand that the federal taxpayer be 'refunded' for his trip to Coppenhagen, but the fact remains: If a president's duty includes promoting the nation's best interests in the rest of the world (and by any definition, hosting the Olympic Games is in the nation's best interest), how was this trip different than one to attend an economic summit, woo a foreign auto maker, etc? Obama was doing his job. They don't break down the individual costs incurred to run the executive branch on such a basis anyway.

Indeed, Ronald Reagan opened the '84 LA Games, Bill Clinton the '96 ATL Games - not by choice, but because it's in the job description people! Besides, didn't Jimmy Carter act as an ambassador for the ATL games ... he's still on the federal payroll as well (i.e. secret service, etc).

ONE MORE THING: To say the Olympics incur great hardship and indebtedness on the people flies in the face of both LA and ATL, which earned profits, and even Beijing, which no doubt considers every billion $$ spent well worth the positive lasting impression made to the rest of the world.

Tell me, Newsboy. How did the Olympics benefit Clayton County? Have there been any hardships as a result of the Olympics and the long term impact on that county?
And to chastise people for stupidity within two days of calling teachers malcontents and whiners? You may be occupationally unemployed, but it is sometimes evident that you are cranially underemployed as well.

Again ... FACTS! Let's not forget about those FACTS!

Clayton County's rapid decline wasn't caused by the Olympics, but GREED -- a good ol' boy county commission that, in back-room deals with ACOG and the city of Atlanta, was awarded the beach volleyball venue on the promise to allow construction of thousands of low-income housing units for displaced project residents holding section 8 vouchers. along the way, the county land-use plan was abandoned, every decent tract of land was rezoned, sold and clear-cut for starter homes, and many many people (including the commissioners) got rich and abandoned the county. the white man, not the olympics, sold out clayton county.

It is Clayton County - who cares? I don't like it being so close, but our police department does a fine job of profiling errrr, I mean patrolling and keeping the scum from sticking to the bathtub, so to speak.

And if you think the stuff they built in the '90's was affordable, it is on sale right now for much less. 3 br townehomes in the heart of Clayton County can be had for $11,000! What a deal, all you need is a gun ($300) and an alarm system ($400) and you're good to go.

the Mossberg Street Sweeper you will need when you go collecting the rent.

It is a little scary having that hellhole perched on the border of Fayette.

Maybe LT. Col. Linda Jones can scare them off.
