Peachtree City Election

The Prince's picture

What are the early predictions? Simply based on signs I'd say:

Mayor: Scott Rowland

Post 1: I saw one Beth sign and two Barker signs, so I guess it is still up for grabs.

Post 3: I haven't seen any signs for this post.

Post 4: Fleisch

Now, my prediction is: Don/Rowland runoff, with Rowland taking the win as the "new" candidate. Post 1 will be a runoff but I don't know who will survive. Post 3 Boone will win as the incumbent. Post 4, after reading Fleisch's letter I highly suspect Dyer will win.

What do you think?

2 groups will be voting against him - anti-incumbents and pro-women.

I see at least 2 women on council.
Could be 3, but Fleisch showed her inexperience and lack of reason with that letter on a commercial building moratorium. Sounds like Steve Brown is coaching her.

And for sure Haddix and Roland in a runoff. That assumes there are more anti-incumbents than pro-women. If not, then Cyndi and Haddix in a runoff. Either way the runoff is too close to call. I predict the winner will have less than 200 votes over the loser.

But these are just predictions - please attend the Rotary forum on Tuesday and try to learn about who should definitely not be allowed to get their hands on our taxpayer money. Biggest thing to me is to avoid people who will invite lawsuits. Lawsuits really waste our money.

No way, not the way the Council has voted on many items lately, many of them were 5-0 votes.

The last vote I cast was in August and there were 3-2 votes. There have not been 5 votes to cast since then.

But then again, I am not an incumbent now either. Am I?

Haddix has been in there fighting for Peachtree City and I think he will continue to do so. He has always been accessable unlike our sitting mayor-. There are those denigrators who say he is always speaking up on any subject--sure would rather have this than a mayor who has no concern for his constituents and never responds to any request for information. Mr. Haddix is familiar with the running of the city---has the best interest of the community at heart and is not in the developers' pockets. He will definitely get my vote.

I am also interested in the other positions. Are you finding it as hard as I am to pick a good candidate?

for PTC council. One has an ego that I think would be detrimental--one seems to be connected to developers and I have not seen or heard too much from any of the others. I know I will be very careful voting for anyone who currently has or have had in the past any connection to developers. Too much has been given to developers already. I want to save as much of the Peachtree City we all came here for--and, if possible, over time get back what we have lost from uncaring or dishonest politicians. We do not need people who kowtow to developers because they are "scared" to not give in to their demands or have ulterior motives . Let them threaten a Hooters or another tire shop. We get those anyway after giving in to demands and here they come again with both hands out, wanting more and more.
There has to be a limit to what we are willing to lose. I know for me personally we have long gone over that limit.

When I make my final selection it will be for candidates who are working and paying taxes. That way, if a mayor or city council member votes for a tax increase - splost or millage - I know that they too will have to pay that tax!

esteemed Senators or Congressmen who seem to have short memories when tax time comes around. If you are referring to someone who is retired--guess what--we pay taxes too and if you live in the area affected you will pay whatever tax others in the city are paying. If I am not mistaken, the only tax exemption, other than homestead exemption, that a retiree would be eligible for would be school tax-
as for splost, which I am not too keen on--wouldn't this be a tax that everyone who spends in the area would be paying?
