Dyer has ties to developers

Our fine city does not need any more “big box” retail stores. They cost the city more in infrastructure and service costs than they create in income. They force locally owned business to close, leaving empty store fronts behind, increase crime and traffic, lower our quality of life and threaten our village concept as a whole.

Candidate Les Dyer has said, “I don’t consider big box retailers to be evil blighters, and our existing establishments have brought us convenience and tax monies, albeit at the price of some congestion. I believe that carefully regulated growth, while adhering closely to our village concept, would best serve the needs of the greatest number of our citizens.”

Something about his wife working for Pathway Communities in my mind raises a question about how can we afford to take a chance on someone with known ties to developers. Not to mention his conflict with anything to do with Callula Hills, since Pathway owns it.

I think for Post 4 we need to listen to what Vanessa Fleisch has to say. She seems to be the better option, in my eyes. I think her only concern is for the homeowners of Peachtree City to be listened to.

Vanessa in her intro letter to The Citizen --
"Our city needs a council that will pass an ordinance that prevents any ground-up building until we reach an occupancy rate of 95 percent of commercial space. Also, any new development needs to be 80 percent leased before ground is broken; much of the new commercial construction is built before anyone commits to occupying it."

Then she goes on and admits she's a Realtor, albeit obviously not one that is up to speed on the law.

So when I compare a real and serious intellectual defect with a phony and exagerrated conflict of interest in Les Dyer - his wife works for Pathway's real estate company (for now) - I vote for Les. Seems like an easy choice.

Of course they both have a chance to soar or crash and burn at the Rotary Forum coming up next Tuesday. Don't miss it.
