The Zealots are worse!

And I'm not talking about Jews!

Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannidy, The Blonde Witch, Palin, The Dark Haired Witch, Newton, and everyone from South Carolina, And of course the screaming IDIOSO Beck, having nearly destroyed the republican party, they seem to want to actually throw the dirt on the coffin!

They are worse than ever. The same screwballs who followed these hypocrites and made them all millionaires are still doing it!

Our best bet for government survival in the long run is to have two strong parties to contest elections. The fact that they both want more money (some for corporations, some for commoners) shouldn't necessarily make it impossible.

The arguments should be made and votes taken. Constant harassment from the losers must cease.

What fun it is to watch the democrat party implode on itself.

America lost when Obama was elected as President.

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich---means, until we the rich get what they have left we can't manage it for them.

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong---means, until we have all of the power they will be a pest.

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift...means since Reagan and Bush2 put us into 13 Trillion debt, there is no prosperity!

You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the payer down---means, until they will work for company script--good only at the company store--we will keep trying.

The Republicans have already imploded...even more fun watching that.

America did not lose when Obama was elected.

The Republicans, the old white men's party lost.

We will get universal health care.

I personally know about four individuals of the "Tea" and "birther" groups, and they all are rattled very much in the brain.

The last election permanently did them in.

You fit the mold.

Best that you people have Westmoreland, and our two wonderful Senators in DC fix things for you. (I can't even think of their names, sorry).
Might I suggest that you dump your AIG stock or Citigroup into the ocean and not "Tea".

Those 'tens of thousands' represent the same 'talk-show listeners' that voted for McCain. Don't hold your breath waiting for the return of our country to the tight-lipped/arm-folded/white gentleman sitting on the Republican side of the Congress - with one rude/angry nut yelling at the president. There are many Americans concerned about the truth regarding health care reform - and the haters have unfortunately joined them with their 'hate Obama' placards. Tens of thousands don't approach the MILLIONS who are demanding reform for health care!

Extremist like David's Mom can whip out the 'race card' and the 'hate card' all they want to no avail. Those tactics have become about as productive and meaningless as school yard fight where a bunch of brats are calling other kids stupid and dumb.

My folks drove me to the Will Rogers International Airport this morning and my mother, who is a registered Democrat, was uncharacteristically going off on Obama and his czars and his assault on the foundations that have made this country strong. She said it eerily reminded her of her childhood when her family had to flee Czechoslovakia ahead of the Russians and their extreme socialist / communist ideologies.

She then mentioned her life long friends in South Carolina who had supported Obama big time and actually worked for his election claiming that after speaking with them this past week, they had major regrets now with his presidency. The funny statement she quoted was that "it appeared George Bush didn't look so bad now compared to President Obama and where he was taking this country". Be encouraged Lindsey. There is a major uproar across this country and it isn't from people described by DM, Main Stream and some of the other kooks on here. It is from middle roaders who are shocked, puzzled and sincerely frightened by the direction this president is taking us. Prezbo is a one termer. America IS waking up. Only problem is I fear the Westmorelands, Saxbys, and other ineffective and pandering Republicans will fill the void. So in effect preserving freedom, opportunity, liberty and all the other foundational tenets that have made this country what it is will not be restored...... it's demise will only be reined in.

BTW.... Happy 50th Anniversary to my parents on this September the 12th. Glad I was with them, even if only for a couple hours in the car on this great day in their life. Smiling

Your parents 50th? Congratulations to them! You could be the age of my oldest son!! (46) You’ve garnered much wisdom in such a short time! Congratulations to you too. Our 'kooks' will prevail. Your 'kooks' are wallowing in publicized misdeeds and rude/unacceptable behavior. It makes Clinton's indiscretions look small indeed. (Let's hope they all have an opportunity to 'atone'.)

Those tactics have become about as productive and meaningless as school yard fight where a bunch of brats are calling other kids stupid and dumb.

Agreed! Then why do some on this blog and some talk-show hosts keep using these 'tactics'? Why? Because we are still suffering from the legacy of a 'racist' society - and refuse to admit it and move on.

We see - throughout our great country - the racist comments made about our president. If you don't like his policies - fine. However - too many are still in a state of shock that a liberal 'black' man is now President of the United States. You, Mr. Real, couldn't even change your attitude that NO BLACKS had the ability to work for you and yours - (Gosh, I hope I'm wrong about that) - and give Hack a break in admitting that there is a wide range of black people in this country in ability, culture, etc.

There are many blogs that I participate on where finding an American with your attitude is becoming more and more difficult. Most Americans today are basing their opinions regarding others on deeds rather than ‘color’. Most Americans judge a fellow American by their actions. Most Americans are learning not to make the accepted generalizations about ‘whites’ and ‘blacks’ that have been made in the past. Most Americans have had enough experience with ‘others’ – that they know that the color of ones skin should not be used to define him/her. It is difficult – but the younger generation seems to be getting the hang of it. Younger generation = 40 and under.

Remember the 'Rove' crowd talking about McCain's 'black' daughter?

Regarding the younger generation, I thought you might get a kick out of this story:

A few years ago, when my daughter first started reading, my mother brought over a big box of my old books. It was full of books that I had even forgotten about: Trixie Beldon, Little House on the Prairie, Nancy Drew, and my old favorites, The Bobbsey Twins. The set of Bobbsey Twin books had actually belonged to my mother as a child. I remembered reading and LOVING those books, so you can imagine how excited I was to be passing them on to my daughter. I had forgotten that they were written in the '30s or '40s and that some of the terminology may not be relevant today.

After just a few minutes into the first book, my daughter came to me with a sentence that she did not understand. The sentence read: "Mrs. Bobbsey's house maid was a colored woman".

"So what about that sentence don't you understand?", I asked her.
"Well, what's a 'colored' woman?", her puzzled face was so sincere.

I explained to her that that had been a term used long ago to describe someone with dark skin. She still seemed confused so I said, "Honey, you know lots of people with dark skin...for example, your teachers' parapro (sorry, I've forgotten her name) has dark skin."

Her reply - "She does? I just know that she's really nice!"

It's refreshing how kids don't seem to notice or care about such things, isn't it?

Submitted by Davids mom on Sun, 09/13/2009 - 8:44pm.

That's precious! Good parenting going on there also! I remember having trouble with the term 'colored' as a youngster. Once embarrassed my family by calling a friend of the family who had very dark skin - a 'blue' man. Oh well - what does the song say? You have to be carefully taught! I enjoy watching the kids in my neighborhood lining up for the bus - all colors and not a hint of 'segregation' among them. I know our country will conquer this craziness - for I see the improvement in each generation.

I'm sorry, I guess I've missed the blogs and talk-show hosts that noted that Obama can't be president because of the color of his skin. Can you direct us to those?

BTW, my parents are a strong believer of our President and the new liberal agenda. I am; however, fearful of the liberal trifecta of Obama - Pelosi - Biden. This makes for some lively discussions when we get together.

I try to make it a point to listen to SOME of the Fox news commentators (national) - and Rush, Coulter, and the rest of that group. The tactics I was referring to was the labeling of Obama as a white hating Muslim, Marxist, Communist, Socialist. I think the blogger who stated that some in this discussion are uncomfortable because they are experiencing a change that they have been taught to fear is correct. I just 'peaked' at Ann Coulters book - correcting American history. Wow! Her story is making an interesting correction to His-story. There have been other presidents that have promoted some of the same strategies that Obama has proposed - and received great 'heat' from the citizens of this country. Laura Bush made an honest comment. This president has a lot on his plate domestically and with foreign policy - and he is doing a good job. (W and Laura have class that is not being exhibited by others.) This may surprise you - but there are lively discussions in our household as well. That is healthy I feel - and as family, we are respectful of one another. To disagree with respect is the American way. Liberals also believe in personal responsibility, hard work, accountability, and treating others as we would want to be treated.

Many in my family are considered 'liberals' because of the civil rights issue in this country. My parents graduated from college in the early 30's - and my grandfather before then. We wouldn't have made it in the early American society (pre-1960's) without hard work, etc. Those values belong to anyone in this country who succeeds. . regardless of the 'label' - I think.

My parents have big concerns about this country just as everyone else has. However, I differ with them on what path to take. No different than the discussions we have here.

It is hard for some people to give up the race card. They use the "card" out of habit even when there is no evidence to support their wild claims.

Submitted by Davids mom on Sun, 09/13/2009 - 7:55am.

There are issues with this administration that are based on ideology and patriotic beliefs regarding our country - but you can't hide that a man like Joe Wilson appeals to those who still have difficulty with our president having more melanin than the majority in this country. There is evidence throughout this administration and the election that preceded it that the elephant in the middle of the room exists. It makes us all uncomfortable - but it has to be dealt with. ..and elsewhere and HERE is being discussed without rancor and personal attacks. Many are trying to continue a civil discussion - it is difficult.

What Others Have Noticed About The Race Card

Submitted by skyspy on Sun, 09/13/2009 - 11:10am.

Ummm so just to be clear on david's mom's "logic"(?); what she is saying is that because Sen. Wilson called obumbles a liar when he blatantly lies that means that Sen. Wilson is a racist.??

Keep crying wolf david's mom, most people have turned a deaf ear to it. You are racist for calling Joe Wilson a racist. Did he use any racial slurs? No he didn't. You ASSume that he is racist because he is white.

Submitted by p-ode on Sun, 09/13/2009 - 12:37pm.

It is not unreasonable to conclude that a man like Joe Wilson might have a hard time accepting the president's race, or that Wilson's outburst might be based in bias, if you consider his history: he "belonged to the Sons of Confederate Veterans, led a 2000 campaign to keep the Confederate flag waving above South Carolina’s state Capitol and denounced as a “smear” the true claim of a black woman that she was the daughter of Strom Thurmond, the ’48 segregationist candidate for president" (Maureen Dowd, NY Times, 9/13/09).

And just as with any other "card" we play in this illogical ideological war, the "race card" is a legitimate face card in our dangerous game of division, denial, and delusion. We may not want to admit it, but it unnerves many of us that the balance of power might swing in ways we've never experienced. We are afraid! But if we refuse to admit and face our fear, we may implode--to the detriment of us all, left, right, and all in the middle. No one's crying wolf--he's already at the door and he's not the black man in the white house. He's you, he's me, and he's everyone of us who refuses to find any common ground upon which to agree.

Submitted by lion on Sun, 09/13/2009 - 5:47pm.

The right-wing anger toward President Obama is understandable.

President Obama embodies the worst fears of conservatives--particularly Southern white conservatives.

President Obama represents in their minds a takeover of their lives by the Federal Government, by Northeners, and by African-Americans.

President Obama is not only the first African-American President. He is the first Northern urban President since John Kennedy.

The Bushes were Southerners. Reagan was an honorary Son of the South since he opposed the Civil Rights laws, was pro-States rights, and anti-big Federal government. Although Clinton and Carter were Democrats, both were largely Southerners in many ways.

A United States President from the North who is liberal and not white is a cultural shock to many.

Relax, America is a big diverse country. The USA will survive and prosper.

If you had said 'I' - your comment may have been credible. When you say 'we' - I wonder who constitutes the 'we'. The Joe Wilsons of our country? Past members of the Sons of the Confederacy (A proud organization that many fine men belong to today- without racist intent but pride in the effort expended by the south for their 'cause') - a few who held racism close to their hearts until the day they died. . those who accepted the smear campaign against McCain as expedient to winning a primary election? . . those who called Mrs. Washington, Strom Thurmond’s daughter a 'lie'? Scare tactics? (Death panels, killing your grandmother, rationing, illegal immigrants receiving federal assistance) I don't think Obama's people stated those PROVEN lies. There is enough to question about the healthcare proposal not to have to resort to smear campaigns, lies, etc. You and I are on the same mission. Unfortunately, what you are espousing is based on facts not in evidence.

I'm not bitter . . just having a discussion about 'race' in America with citizens throughout this country - and many from other countries. Spent a wonderful week with visitors who feel that this country offers the world's best opportunity for all humans. If you viewed all of the news stations - you would see the 'signs'. If you read many editorials/opinions, you will see that 'race' is mentioned. To pretend that this is not at the back or front of Americans minds at this point is ludicrous. Fortunately, it is not an all consuming concern for most Americans - but what I found on this blog has been an eye opener. We have similar opinions of one another.
