When Doug Dee traveled to the W hotel in DeKalb County May 1 with his girlfriend, he had at least an inkling he could get into trouble with the law.

According to a police report, then-Whitewater High School Band Director Dee made arrangements via phone to meet two female prostitutes at the hotel that night. Before he was arrested, Dee searched one of the undercover police officers for a microphone and remarked, “I just wanted to make sure this wasn’t entrapment,” according to the report.

The girlfriend, then-Whitewater Chorus Director Kelly Butler, expressed some hesitancy about the arrangement.

The report indicated that Butler told one of the officers, “I might freak out, what should I say (laugh), can I say I am freaking out?”

One of the officers responded: “Honey, just say stop. We don’t want you to be uncomfortable.”

Dee agreed to pay $200, both in his phone exchange and in the hotel room, according to the report. The sting used the website Craigslist, apparently to advertise the “services” of the undercover officers.

During the phone call, Dee told an undercover officer, “My girlfriend is feeling naughty and I would like to meet up with you,” the report said.

Contrary to previous media reports, there is nothing in the police report to indicate that Dee thought the prostitutes were underage.

After they were taken into custody by police, Butler told officers that “she was sorry, and Doug and her wanted to try something different tonight.”

Dee, 40, was arrested on the scene but Butler, 33, was allowed to leave. She was arrested at a later date, officials said. Both were charged with misdemeanor pandering.

Both resigned their positions Sept. 10 after the school system became aware of the charges for the first time since the May 1 incident, officials said. According to DeKalb court records, Dee was arraigned in court this past Thursday also.

According to jail records, both Dee and Butler live at Balmoral Apartments in Peachtree City, but in different units.

Both faculty members began working for Whitewater in 2003. Dee had been with Fayette County schools since 1997 and Butler was hired by the school system in 2001.

The school system will work diligently to find highly qualified replacements for both, said school system spokesperson Melinda Berry Dreisbach. The school is also appreciative of parents and students who continue to support both the band and chorus programs particularly as they begin to make the transition to new leadership, she said.

Don't be as screwed up as these two perverted people! It's good they're gone from the children!

Contrary to previous media reports, there is nothing in the police report to indicate that Dee thought the prostitutes were underage.

This changes somethings for me, given there were no underage individuals involved. Looks like hey were looking for some fun and make a mistake..

Both were charged with misdemeanor pandering.

Okay, misdemeanors, so they are fore to resign and other with felony DUI charges still remain at their respective positions.. Odd,,,,

Who has received the mentioned felony DUI's?

well i can think of one particular commissioner that should have been arrested for a DUI. But because the looser cop that decided not to do his job this idiot is still in office may be allowed to stay as long as he likes depending on people like u! May be we all need to question this situation. Or lets just pick on the teachers because its easier. Because we can just sit at home and write articles in the paper instead of getting off our butts and going and protesting this idiot out off office.

I have heard wonderful things about both of these teachers, and I feel really bad for the children and the families involved. I understand that what they do on their own time is their business, however, can anyone honestly say that they want people who hire 'prostitutes' teaching their children? Shouldn't they be leading by example?

The band and chorus programs will go on and who knows, they could be better than they are now. Let's all get behind the students and the leadership and show the wildcat pride!

i assume that if it weren't for the media exposing their...uh...activities, no one would know.

so, i don't see how this is a relevant point, actually.

i DON'T care what my teachers do on their own time as long as their sexual activities don't include children (prostitutes or not). in fact, i think some of my teachers might have been a little more successful at their jobs if they weren't so wound up if you catch my drift.

to say they should lead by example implies that i (as the student) am expected to subscribe to my teacher's code of ethics. apparently, said code should be in congruence with yours, and, apparently, it excludes use of "prostitution."

fortunately, not everyone agrees with everyone else on everything, and it's too bad one line of thinking has so much influence on our culture, and more specifically our laws.

Your not looking at the Real Reason why these two resigned or were forced to resign, they withheld the arrest information from their employer. Teachers sign a Code of Ethics form and they knew that this type of criminal behavior (no matter how petty you think it was) would
get them fired.
You as a Student at the beginning of every school year have to sign a similar Code of Ethics and you could be expelled for things that you do away from school. Its the real World, get used to it, blend in and make it work for you, or fight it and you'll sink like a rock.

As a taxpayer and a parent of children in the school system here in Fayette County, the very least that I would expect from the teachers and other people that have influence over our children, is that they follow the laws. The last I heard was that prostitution was against the law. I would hope that the students follow THAT example.

What a joke. The "chil'ren" want to be like their slave master, obama, the master of corruption. The law doesn't apply to him, why should it apply to affi'can-'merican skool kids. Don't they deserve the privilage of creating under-age, illegal alien, brothels in they own 'hood ? Oh, with your tax dollars.

Who really cares where they get it. Id rather they pick up and pay for a lady of the night than get a hooker at the red room or any other bar in town. Just make it legal and tax it.

a correct sobriquet than Normal--or is it wishful thinking? There was no doubt once the Red Room was mentioned. Wonder what the attracttion to the Red Room?? Think maybe Bonkie hit on one of the short skirted ladies and got shot down??? By the way, there are at least two new 'others' on here that sound much like out old buddy. He can hide it for a while but then that old lovable Bonkie surfaces. Wonder if Normal has met $Dollars, etc., are they all kept in separate compartments?

Yeah, we're the ones who are nuts. You are the poster boy for schizophrenia. You post here as Bonker$ and normal (and several others). We all see the irony in your name choices. Do you, really?

Could you try to be "normal" though when you post as normal?

You don't seem to have a lot of respect for the law as it relates to people who serve the public interest.

Horgan and now this.

Are there any circumstances where you believe that those in public service should be held to a higher standard?

Are there any particular values that you think.....

Nevermind.

LOL

With the "law" reluctantly releasing scores of jailed people every year due to DNA, after vengeful juries canning them, and with the likes of spendthrift, arms supplier Reagan, and W. (spend) Bush (smoke em out), Torturer Cheney, and I don't care Rumsfeld, it is no wonder that people have little respect for such as Spitzer, our recent Chief of Police, and scores of other "public" serving crooks.

We even have on in SC with a paramour in Venezuela we pay to go see her.

This "higher Standard" stuff is baloney---there is no such thing.
We are all alike.

The court records show "450 S Peachtree Pkwy," which is actually Balmoral Apartments.

but I didn't think they were so bad off they had to live in Harmony Village. Isn't most of that wonderful Olympics gift given to our fair city mostly Section8?

Submitted by Bonkers on Sun, 09/13/2009 - 6:45am.

These teacher folks make anywhere from $35-45,000 a year unless you are DeCotis & staff. Bandman may get some other stipends!

Where else would you have them live? Smokerise?

You are a republican!

Bush the First didn't know about grocery store scanning or what bread and milk cost---no idea!

Submitted by MYTMITE on Sun, 09/13/2009 - 1:51pm.

reasoning you are a democrat and you live in Harmony Village? It is no secret that Harmony Village is a low rent project, mostly Section 8 subsidised. Why does my mentioning that I was surprised that PTC teachers would be living there make me a republican? Bush Sr didn't know about grocery scanning so I guess that made him a republican also?? I want the first ticket given out to watch the democratic leadership go through the grocery store while discussing the cost of bread and milk. I am sure you will be present. Are you establishing policy in this country? So much of it makes about as much sense as your stream of consciousness babbling does.

Well, you did yourself enough damage here (above) and I don't need to add any more.

Submitted by eem8 on Sun, 09/13/2009 - 11:01am.

what do grocery stores have anything to do with running the country?

and for that matter, what do politics have anything to do with "naughty" teachers teaching at my school?

this is a stupid discussion...get back to the crap that is actually fun to talk about...pervy disgusting teachers!! yay!
