Losing Elections

The likelihood is that republicans will lose many more seats in the next congress. They appear to not have learned a thing from their drubbing last time.

They simply refuse to recognize that such conduct in the area of wars, the economy,
ignoring banks-insurance and other paper shufflers, and the attempt to further introduce religion (Christianity) into our method of governing and foreign policy is still their main interests.

Religion is a personal thing and can not succeed as a method of managing and demanding citizen's conduct. That occurs only between the various religious groups, not in Washington. D.C.

We are a democratic nation, run by a representative elected government. If those electees happen to be Christian, so be it and they will vote as they see fit.

We must also allow those who are not Christian, or Christians who do not mix the two, to vote their thinking.
One is only responsible in government for their own salvation--not others.

To ignore the fact that by far the majority of the population of the world is not Christian and try to force that thinking upon others will not and can not work. Several major wars and Crusades have proved that.

All this has little to do with evangelism in the private sector and whom you wish to vote for in an election.

My point is that we need two strong parties. To destroy one is a sin in my opinion.
It is difficult not to however, when one party refuses to realize their mistakes and want to continue trying failed and wrong policies.

You have stumbled across something I have said for years about the Republicans and what they need to do to avoid the inevitable end of the party as all the white old men die off.

Solution is obvious. If we live in a right-leaning centrist country - which we do - the Republicans need to move to the center and do it sincerely. Moving to the center like Clinton did (albeit from the left) was phony and everyone knew it. A sincere move toward the center for the Republicans means dumping the religious right. One nation under God, that's fine. Government shall not establish a national religion, that's fine. Kowtowing to the anti-abortion crowd and using that as some kind of litmus test for every elected and appointed official is just plain stupid. If you don't want an abortion - don't get one, but don't tell me what I and my family can or can't do. I'll worship my God anyway I want, anytime I want and that has nothing to do with government's role in my life or anyone else's. Less government intrusion into personal matters is always better.

By dumping the baggage that comes with the religious right, the Republicans will lose a few thousand votes and several thousand extreme right wingers won't vote at all, but hundreds of thousands if not millions from the moderate (meaning sensible) part of the Democratic Party will convert by moving slightly right. Of course the Republicans need attractive candidates and an easy to understand platform - less government, lower taxes (or even the Fair Tax) and secure borders and a strong military -all of which helps the economy and even the dumbest borderline Democrat can understand that that kind of platform has a better chance of success than Mr. Hope, Change, Tax and Spend.

The Republicans need a new Contract with America very soon and if they get coordinated the House takeover in 2010 will be easy. 3 more years of Prezbo, his choice of advisors, ACORN, etc. will guarantee his demise. Of course Hillary will run against him in the primary, but an attractive Republican (not named Palin) can beat either one of them if there is a strong right centrist platform and some real coordinated ridicule of the Dem's foibles.

Note to Republican Party: If you don't want to be known as the party of old white men, don't nominate one for President. Basic politics.

A little sugar here and there is detectable and not worth reading.

Always saying nice stuff and not criticizing dumbness is not efficient.

I need not get-along on here to survive, so I can say it exactly as I see it.

The intent here is not to say that Christians or anyone else can not serve in government according to the constitution. Even Muslims.

I don't need any responses from many doe-does on here. I get more than I can read, that are intelligent and make sense, from several other blogs elsewhere.

Apparently there are more counties in the USA who wanted "change" and got it but are willing to discuss the best ways to make those changes other than to continue the illegal foolishness of the last few years.

Well, I guess the question is why do you spend so much time and worthless effort here then? You're just like Main. Too good for this place, but just can't pull yourself away. Are you her father?
