Police: Kedron cart path sex assault report was bogus

A 30-year-old woman has been arrested for fabricating a story Aug. 27 that she had been sexually assaulted by a man on the Peachtree City golf cart path system near Lake Kedron.

Police have determined that the report made by the woman was false, officials said.

LaDonna West Chavez, 30, of Barberry Lane, Peachtree City, has been charged with making a false crime report and also uttering false statements and writings, police said in a news release late Wednesday afternoon.

Chavez initially told police she was approached from behind by a white male who forced her to the ground and sexually assaulted her around 5:30 a.m. Aug. 27. Chavez did not call police immediately but officers were summoned after she sought treatment at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, police said.

Chavez told officers the incident occurred on the path near Lake Kedron and the cul-de-sac of Samiel Point and Larkins Landing.

The news release gave no reason for why the woman turned in a false report.

Chavez was taken to the Fayette County Jail to await her appearance before the Fayette County Magistrate Court for bond, police said.

I know this woman personally... And I wouldnt say that I like her. I used to work for her. She is a WHITE female (not a race issue idiot) and a Proprieter for a very respectable place. She did it out of a desperate attempt to get affection and/or attention from a certain someone. She didnt accuse anyone and she TOLD the police that it was a false statement voulentarily. Its circumstantial... and for the comment about it tearing the community apart and all the b.s... dont be sooo dramatic. remember you are only reading part of a story.. is what she did wrong? yes... can you understand it... if your human with a heart and ever been deeply in love... you know that love makes you do crazy things... hers was just a little crazier.

Is that a Hate Crime?

When someone with a Hispanic last name accuses some fictitious "white male" of assaulting her, isn't that a hate crime? Why do they always pick on us white guys? I am offended. We need to protest! Maybe we can break a few windows and get a free flat screen TV. I am sure the ACLU is preparing their response already.

Felt something was wrong from the beginning and the one tip off was the time the crime occured.. I hope there is no plea deal and she gets the max for her efforts... Lucky for her no one picked this up as some sort of racial crime, it could have divided the community. Her trip to the hospital was most likely her down fall, given tmost likely there was no physical evidence to support her claim.

Seems like reporting false reports is the new trend lately..

I wonder how they came to this conclusion?

Anyone heard anything about how they determined that the claim was false? My guess is it had something to do with her trip to the hospital, but maybe not. If anyone's heard anything on this they should totally share that information

All it wuz wuz she called the newspaper and reported it at same time as the cops then went and goes to the hospital and gets sum medicine for her dizziness and swears them to secrecy due to her confidential health rights!

This is not the first time this has happened. What's going on here people??? Are we just so bored with our everyday lives that we have to make up stuff to add excitement? Is there another angle to this, perhaps trying to get people to turn away from PTC thinking it's some crime infested rat hole? (which it may very well be, but oh well)
