A police stakeout at a local industrial building netted the arrest of two suspects for burglary and related charges early Sunday morning.

Michael Poindexter and Joshua Hughes, both of Douglasville, were arrested after attempting to remove copper wiring from the Photocircuits building at 810 Dividend Drive, police said.

The pair arrived after 1:45 a.m. Sunday morning and caused damage in excess of $60,000, police said. The copper wiring they were trying to steal had a value of more than $5,000, police said.

The stakeout was initiated after a similar recent burglary at the same building, police said.

Poindexter is charged with two counts of burglary, criminal damage and possession of tools for the commission of a crime. Hughes is charged with burglary, criminal damage to property and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

I for one am glad that the officers took the time to set up and capture these thugs that are using our community to supply their drug habits with. It boils down to stopping the supplies to their meth habits. Every thing that is not tied up or watched over will be taken to supply these drug thugs’ habits. If you don’t believe me just look at all the states out west that have already been through this. Wake up Georgia. I applaud the Peachtree City Police Dept. for stopping these thugs. I wish all the agencies in the county would do the same. If they actually worked the drug problems in the county instead of riding the coat tales of the DEA, maybe we could put a real dent in our crime stats and not worry about what is cleared by an arrest. What’s that old saying “a bird in the hand is better than a bird in the bush"?

...and I for one agree with you! How many of you parents have had to purchase a paint product from a Lowe's or Home Depot for an underage teen due to the fact that is now considered a substance abuse product? My high school age son was unable to buy spraypaint for a school project! Also, some counties now require ID for purchase of OTC cold medicines due to the rise of teen addictions resulting from the highs associated with the chemicals found in some products. (DSM) The opium-like "high" associated with the dextromethorphine ingredient. Check out Channel 2's connectwithkids website for up to date information on these and other important programming segments which are very eye opening and up to the minute details on what's going on now. For the comment on the ostrich: it's not that the kids are being bad, or were assumed to have been born of an ill environment: predators seek THEM, out...not the other way around, and when they pose as teens themselves, and lure them in whatever manner, seductively or not, they can become victims without even realizing it!
