Peachtree City police are continuing to investigate the sexual assault of a woman on the city’s cart path system but no further details of the incident early Thursday morning are being released at this time.

The incident occurred Thursday morning at approximately 5:30 a.m. on the path adjacent to Lake Kedron and the cul-de-sac of Samuel Point and Larkins Landing, police said.

The woman said the assailant approached her from behind and forced her to the ground, sexually assaulting her before fleeing the scene, police said.

The suspect was described as a white male, approximately six feet tall, of medium build, with short hair and was last seen wearing a dark shirt.

The incident was not immediately reported to police, who were contacted after the victim sought treatment at Piedmont Fayette Hospital.

Police Maj. Mike DuPree said Tuesday while no new information can be released the department is still investigating the case.
