Sounds of Faith - the faithful will miss it.

Well it happened. Turned on 'Sounds of Faith' and got Country Rock. Also got an announcement that 'Sounds of Faith' was no longer on 94.9 but could be found on the Internet.

Have removed 94.9 from my preselected stations and will move on. Running my computer on Sunday mornings is not likely to happen so its back to the CDs.

How a marketing organization can ignore so large a market I don't understand.

A station will run most anything if they can sell ads enough to make a profit.
But, due to regulations checks must be made as to how large the average audience is for programs before they can sell an ad and charge accordingly.

The only way you and others who want a certain type of program is to pay for it yourself.

Preachers do this all of the time!

Apparently there just wasn't enough of you to make it profitable for the station. They were either losing money or could make more money with country music.

I'm not sure what you were asking to happen that would keep it on would have been.

That's exactly how I felt when 99X went off air.

I knew it would happen sooner or later. The almighty dollar wins again. I have listened to the Sounds of Faith for almost 20 years, and was so disappointed when I heard country music last Sunday. Here is the response I recieved when i emailed 94.9:

Thanks for writing to us with your concerns about Sounds of Faith moving away from The New 94-9 The Bull’s weekend programming schedule.

After careful consideration and a six month study of the levels of listening on Sunday morning we’ve made the decision to program country music during that time. The decision we’ve made is in no way meant to express any negative feelings about the music heard on Sounds Of Faith or it’s devoted listeners. A six month study of the ratings showed that we were experiencing low listenership on Sunday mornings and not putting ourselves in a competitive situation with the programming we were offering. We’ve adjusted the formatting on Sunday morning in an effort to meet the expectation of our audience that we serve in every other part of the week.

I, in no way, expect the reasons explained here to make you feel better about losing a favorite show of yours on the radio. I do feel like you deserve an explanation and wanted to tell you the truth behind the decision.

Sounds of Faith is now available 24/7 online at www.soundsoffaith.net. You can listen to the full 4 hour show at any time of any day on your computer over the internet.
