The State has frozen property reassessments???

Frozen for next three years it says.

Why is this? Is it to keep the lower values of the last two years from showing up causing property taxes to reduce if allowed?

I have never seen this done when the values went up!!!!

Is this an idea of Sonnie's so as to not look like a tax increase? (which it is in effect since values are too high currently.)

Anyway what has the state got to do with how much tax we collect in Fayette County?
Or how we value our own property?

Now. only those who can afford to pay higher taxes, since many are out of a job, will pay them---rest will have to sell out to richer dudes!

Seem like I read about this kind of shenanigans in the 30s!

As has the state done (see above) why don't we "freeze" the city and county budgets at a minimum of where they currently reside?

If we need to increase them we could do that 5% at a time withour recourse to mil rate or property values.

That way, no public employee could be laid off or put on part-time, but some could be added.

The 5% increases should take care of getting them a raise for attendance every year!
