Generals and Admirals don't resign anymore!

When they are asked to perform stupid political holding patterns or even not holding patterns, they don't resign!
When they ask for what they need and aren't given it, they simply obey orders and fail.

There is a big difference in dis-obeying orders and simply resigning!

I realize that for a senior oficer to resign may keep his pension to that point, but it won't make him a multi-milliomnaire once out of service. His books won't sell and no large corporation will hire him, or her.

Also, politicians in general feel as if they can ignore command officers recommendations nowadays as to how to proceed. I suppose they think they aren't savvy diplomatically.
However most of them have masters or PhDs in the very subjects they are ignored about!

A good way to ruin an army and a country.

Put idiots in charge.

You got an example or did you just miss a dose of meds? Regardless, it's about a sorry-ass comment that is empty of meaning or realism--the kind of stuff you dwell on.

LTG Eikenberry, now ambassador to Afghanistan.
Every six months or so from 2003 he was in charge and spouted such positive notes that he was loved in Washington. He got to be Ambassador. Tonnage of Opium went from 80 metric tons to ten times that much while he was there and we accomplished nothing else, yet everything was fine, according to his speeches.

LTG Sanchez, The lady General in charge of Abu-ghraib, and on and on!
The Air Force General who was Rumsfeld's buddy---nothing but positive speeches for years which were baloney!!
