Fayette man hauls in Fantasy 5 jackpotThu, 08/13/2009 - 8:23pm

A Fayetteville man has cashed in on the Georgia lottery, claiming a $223,000 jackpot for winning the Aug. 4 Fantasy 5 drawing. Bruce Palmer, a wholesale used car dealer, has already benefited from the lottery as his daughter won a HOPE scholarship funded with lotto proceeds. But this win was bigger, at least in volume. Winning numbers for the Aug. 4 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 10-24-36-37-38. Palmer purchased his Quik Pik ticket at Woolsey Chevron Food Mart, 1992 Highway 92 S., Fayetteville. When Palmer figured out they had won, he woke up Vicky, his wife of 39 years. "We jumped up and down like children on Christmas morning," said Palmer, a Fayetteville resident. "We were so excited." In addition to paying bills, the Palmers will use some of their prize to build a cabin in the North Carolina mountains, where they own property. Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 jackpot tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning jackpot ticket is sold, the retailers selling the jackpot winning tickets will share the bonus. Woolsey Chevron Food Mart will receive a retailer incentive bonus of $6,000. Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program. More than 1.1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program. login to post comments |
